All Xero could do was groan in response to the extreme amount of sass coming from the nan before him. He couldn't do anything else now but make sound effects. There was no more energy left in any of his limbs, especially his wings.

When he heard the other b'alam finally walking away he breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Well, at least she wouldn't be around to mock him. Though, as soon as she left he couldn't help but notice the slight pinch in his chest. Lonely? That was an even less desirable feeling than hunger. Why would something like that spring up now?! The feeling and understanding of the word was so sudden it left his already throbbing head spinning more.

No matter how hard he tried to focus on being relived that she was gone the pinch would not go away.

Than, as if she heard him calling internally for some form of company, the sound of paws padding across the grass graced his ears. Without thinking of it his head wearily lifted a moment and his eyes cracked.

"Grrrts...." He hissed before allowing his head to flop down and eyes to shut tight again.

-thup-

His nostrils flared to the scent of the meal set before him. Without thinking on why she had done so he begun to nibble on the rabbit. The blood was not as satisfying, his wings still felt powerless, but it felt good to get something in his aching belly.

Prisca's tongue savored the taste of the blood as she cleaned it from her fur. Why must something so messy taste so good? She'd always wondered if the bigger prey tasted any different. Perhaps juicier with all that meat on it. But she guessed it would also make a bigger mess. It was bad enough having her paws messy. She didn't think she could bear making a mess of the rest of her. What she was wearing and the hairstyle were what she had woken up in. She wasn't sure where to get more materials to make it, if she even could on her own, or where to find someone to make it for her. She rather liked her clothes. She had seen her reflection in the water a few times. It made her look...Dignified. Elegant. She liked that. While this one just looked rough. Intimidating. Just not to her in this current state.

The nantlil paused in her cleaning long enough to give him an appraising look, one paw still suspended in the air near her muzzle.

"Better?" she asked, though she figured the answer would be yes. They were meat-eaters. No different than the other meat-eaters she had spied. Like the ones in the sky that swooped down on the mice in the grass. Or the little weavers that trapped flies in their intricate webs. They came in different sizes, but they all craved the consumption of other living beings as energy to keep going. He was enough like her he should also require the same. Nature wasn't woven to have two creatures of the same species have entirely different diets.

All this aside, he did also have the sharp teeth of a carnivore.

"I think proper etiquette dictates this is where you say 'thank you,'" Prisca added, licking the paw and rubbing it across her face.

The small meal was at least enough for Xero's head to clear a little bit. It still throbbed and ached, but his thoughts were less scrambled than they had been a moment ago. His wings still felt useless and his limbs felt weak. Perhaps it just took a while? No, that wasn't it. Something told him he needed something else still to be able to use his wings and to have all of his strength returned.

It wasn't long before there was nothing left of the rabbit but remnants of blood coated on Xero's maw. Even the small bones and organs were consumed. Crunchy and not as pleasant as the meat, but it was something more than he had. It even helped distract him from what had been troubling him.

When Xero heard the prompt for him to say "thank you" he turned his ears forward very cautiously. His maw parted slightly as he prepared to force himself to repeat her words. Than, just as slowly, he tried to move his wings from his eyes and open them just a-

"ARGH!" He roared before withdrawing back and wrapping his wings tightly around his body. His jaws snapped shut again. The light seemed to be much brighter than it was before and thus burn even more.

The light was bad. The light was still present. If she was being so kind to feed him than why was it still too bright to see?! And he still did not feel as though he could stand properly. Each of his limbs felt barely useful.

"How is it you can still see anything?" Xero forced his words through clenched teeth. How had this light not burned her eyes out!?

While he consumed the rabbit, Prisca had finished with her cleaning, enjoying the feeling of once again being clean. The scrap of her tongue over her own fur was relaxing. No different than jumping into a lake or river for other animals to get rid of the caked on dirt causing their fur to pull painfully against their skin. Course, she wouldn't enjoy the feeling later when all that ingested fur wanted to come back up. But nothing enjoyable in this world wasn't without a price, she supposed.

Once she was satisfied that no speck of blood or dirt or sticky bark was left, the Light B'alam settled down on the ground, tucking her front legs in under her body and dozing a little in the warm light of the sun while she waited for the tahtll to finish. Her mind had begun to drift when he suddenly cried out, making her jump straight back to her feet, expecting to see some herd of larger animals thundering towards them with intend on trampling them. A quick survey of the world around them proved they were still alone, save for a flying insect here or there. A little ant was clinging to one of her paws for dear life, probably not realizing it had crawled up onto a living creature. She blew it away before settling back down on her hindquarters. Her tail wrapped around her body, the tip still darting around violently as her heart still raced.

Wait, he said something. What was it?

"See?" she repeated, momentarily confused. "Because the sun is out and lighting up the world. Much better than the moon does on most nights. I think the better question," she added, leaning towards him a little, one paw struck out to support her body, "is why can't you see? Every other creature can. Or perhaps you just hit your head harder than you should have."

Xero could hear the nan move in closer even with his ears pinned back against his head. How could she say that about this 'sun'? It had done him no favors so far. The sun was the reason he had lost his pray, hit his head, and now looked so pathetic in front of this nantil. Xero would have rolled his eyes if it did not feel as if they were spiked orbs in his sockets. Simply trying to gaze up hurt almost as much as his head.

"When the land was dark" Xero hissed. "my eyes did not burn, I could see. That bright orb in the sky-" Xero had only briefly noted it was circular before his head was metaphorically light on fire. "-is nothing but a pain."

Every other creature could see? "Perhaps I am not like the other creatures. No one else was trying to drink your blood, yet I was. I need it..."

How did he know? The rabbit had brought the idea to life. he had tried to drink the blood, but it was not satisfying. While his head was clearing from the kind sustenance the rabbit did provide he thought back to why he had started to chase the nantil. She did have something he needed. Blood.

"Didn't you want my blood as well?"
Xero asked in almost a whisper. Talking was causing his head to pulse again.

Prisca observed the tahtll with unintentional growing compassion. That was right. He had tried to attack her. She thought he was going to rip her apart. That would have been a shame when she'd only been in the world for a brief time. There was too much to see and learn to be snuffed out so quickly.

Still...It caused her to ache slightly to see another uncomfortable.

Though the rabbit had helped enough to allow him to talk, the Light took note that he wasn't coming out from hiding or even was moving much. She was probably still safe. At least until the sun went down.

"Mm." Getting up from the ground, Prisca shifted her body so she was now sitting very close to him, using her shadow to help block out the sun from his eyes. Had he wanted to, or could, he would have been able to simply reach out a paw a few inches and grab her. Her front paw was sitting just inches from where his was. Or what could be seen of that leg under the wing.

"Perhaps. We have the same shape, but I don't crave your blood. Blood is no different than drinking water. It only fills for a short time. If I wanted you for food, I'd want your body. Not that I want you for food. Any animal satisfies me. Other predators would put up too much of a fight for the effort and outcome." She watched him for a while, than finally sighed and flicked her tail towards him, bouncing it purposely off his wings to get his attention. He had a whole rabbit in his stomach. If she offered her blood in the end, he shouldn't drain her, right? Nor have the energy to do more than bite. "Try to leave me enough to go through the rest of the day."

Xero's ears twitched forward to the soft hum the nan made. The movement sent a shot of pain through the side of his head and through his skull. He hissed again. This was beyond miserable. Now it would seem as though she was scooting closer, studying him. Perhaps that wasn't the miserable part. Aside the fact she had humiliated him and caused this eye-burning light to appear. Maybe. Still, had his head not been in so much pain this would be less of an undesirable experience. What was she talking about? Something about blood?

Before the pain had settled back to the numb throbbing he felt the soft fur of the other b'alam tapping the outside of his wings.

The gentle touch caused his wings to flex open just large enough for some of the light to get through. Though, surprisingly it was not as bad as before. Xero's eyes peeked from behind their lids to see a vague shadow highlighted by a burning halo of light.

His wings closed slightly while his eyes shut tight once again. His nose inched forward toward the tail offered while he took in a slow breath.

"... There is not enough in your tail... I can't bite it properly..." Xero spoke reluctantly. How he knew this was beyond him, the information just seemed to surface while he was 'testing' the tail.

Xero couldn't puzzle why she would suddenly change her mind. That was the kind of information he would have liked to have suddenly be known. She couldn't trust him, he gave her no reason to do so. Yet here she was offering something that she needed to live, something he could take away so easily. He did not want to take away all of her blood though, no matter how much he had to before. She needed it, they both needed blood. Besides, if he did, she would go away again... Not that that would be bad. Right?

The pinked tipped white tail never ceased in it's twitching, even as the tahtll moved closer to what Prisca assumed would be the bite. She'd never, naturally, been considered as a food supply to another, unless you wanted to count the little biting bugs. Which she didn't. They were small and never took a lot from anyone. This guy was not a bug. He was a B'alam like her. A larger one than her. Which meant he should need more nourishment than her.

Why was she offering her blood to him, again? Because she felt momentary compassion for his suffering? He did look pitiful, that was true. And she was very curious to learn more about their differences. Which she couldn't while he was in this state.

The Light nantlil bent down, pushing her face in close to his. She could only vaguely remember a flash of blue as far as his eyes went. And something odd about them.

"Then what do you need?" she asked, her hindquarters suspended slightly off the ground like a cat preparing to pounce, tail flicking back and forth quickly.

This would have been the perfect moment to strike! Just a quick lunge and a flash of teeth and claws and it would be all over. Sacrifice and atonement for his humiliation would be satisfied. However, Xero could not bring himself to even bare his fangs aggressively when she scooted closer to his snout. It had to have been the headache and the smell of his own blood on his forehead. Which was not as sweet smelling as the other b'alams. How he could even smell her blood was a current mystery. He just knew it was there.

Xero tipped his nose to the side and drew in another deep breath through them. It smelled much better here than it did on her tail.

"Your neck..." Xero spoke between clenched teeth. Talking was still not a fun experience. And he was even more unaware that that sounded more aggressive than it was intended to.

Prisca titled her head slightly at his words. Made sense. When she studied larger prey to determine if the effort was worth it, her instincts told her to attack the throat. Grab onto the throat, bring them down with your weight, and clamp your jaws tightly onto their neck until they stop breathing and moving. Was easier to do with smaller rodents. Two paws, one on their head, one on their stomach, was enough to keep them down for the death bite.

Though he only said he wanted blood, was it safe to bare her neck like that for him to bite? If it worked on other animals, the death bite would work on her.

Would depend on how much blood he wanted, she guessed. Leaving her alive for only a small portion of it would make more sense than killing her. Then she'd be around if he needed more. No sense in wasting what you didn't have to, right? On the other hand, she had to kill to get at what she needed. No animal could survive with half their body gone.

Prisca frowned slightly as she thought on it, then sighed, scooted a little closer, and turned her muzzle out of the way. "Only if you do not snap my neck or choke me or leave me with too little to survive. Or this tree will be your gravestone."

Xero only grunted in acknowledgement to the nan's warning. As much as he had wanted to moments ago all he wanted now was a drink. Something nourishing and something he could feel satisfied with. He had little idea on how much he needed, but that wasn't going to stop him. Talking was a pain right now and he wasn't going to tell her he had no idea how much was enough.

Given her personality, she would probably swat him or burn him fully with her light before he had a chance to in any case.

Carefully Xero scooted his paws under his frame than released a grunt as he pushed off from the ground just enough to get his maw at level with her neck. Long wings unfurled while his eyes shut tight for a moment. The extra light slammed against his skull with the full force of a boulder. No, he didn't want to make this one bring in more light.

Quickly he wrapped his wings around the both of them so the light would not be a bother, by much. Than, very carefully, he cracked his eyes slightly. Just enough to see the shadow of her neck. He could smell a perfect spot just behind her jaw.

Just as carefully he opened his maw and sunk his fangs in. A strange coat of saliva covered his sharp fangs before they broke the surface of her skin. The puncture site would numb and pleasantly tingle, quite the opposite sensation one might associate with the long sharp fangs of a dark b'alam.

Within moments of the generous donation Xero could feel his limbs strengthen, his wings felt as if they could move proper.

Than, as carefully as he had latched on, he removed his fangs from her neck, unwrapped his wings, than took a step back. His eyes cracked open a little before closing tight and his wings wrapping around his now sitting frame. He released a slight growl to the light still being a bother. Well, blood didn't fix that, but he did feel less useless. He felt stronger, awake, his pain had actually dulled. His tongue poked out and lapped any reminisce of blood that had remained on his lips.

The other, she felt there? Still...

"Are you alive still...?" Xero inquired flatly. An honest inquiry. He couldn't really tell if he had taken much out, or really how much blood was in one's body. She still smelled like she had a lot...

Closing her eyes, Prisca prepared for what she expected was going to be painful, or at the very least, uncomfortable. She'd had little rodents try to bite her paws. It had hurt, even those little teeth. Not enough for her to let them go, but enough for it to sting just a little as sharp teeth penetrated her skin.

This, however, was not painful. She barely felt it. And even than, she wasn't sure if her mind was merely making her think she could feel it or if she truly could. It might have just been the rush of blood she was feeling. She could hardly tell it was over until he began to speak, again.

The Light nantlil moved her head back around, pale eyes focusing on a pair of greyish purple paws. Well, he was sitting. She guessed that was good. It was an improvement to sheltering and growing under thin wings. Such thin wings that probably didn't do much for anything. Didn't one need feathers to fly?

"So kind of you to ask," she spoke sarcastically, no matter that she had been the one to offer herself. She moved her own body into a sitting position, wrapping her tail around her paws. She couldn't meet him at eye level and wasn't feeling in the mood to look up. She settled for the grass on either side.

*tch* Xero scoffed to the sarcastic response from the nantil. Whatever. He could care less if she was going to continue to act as such. Maybe he should have drained all of her blood... maybe the light would go away. Perhaps he could deal with being alone again. No. Not really. That thought was terrible. Even if not being alone meant he had to sit to a sour piece of work like the being sitting in front of him. Without his head throbbing so, he could hear a bit better. He heard her shift to her haunches and curl her tail. The grass made a swooshing sound when she did.

"I will not try to kill you... could you take the light away now?"
Xero huffed. His t ail thumped the ground. "It burns my eyes."

Part of him had a hunch she really wasn't responsible for the light in the sky. He even felt slightly silly for asking such a thing. However, he would not admit such a thing. It felt like that anger was something solid to hold onto at the moment. The only other alternative was to tell her to shove off. Which, again, was not something he could bring himself to do. Why? That was a mystery he didn't care to explore...

Prisca titled her head slightly to the side, raising one eyebrow at his continued intentions to involve her in the sun. I mean, really. How could anyone in their right mind think she was responsible for the blaring sunshine from the sky? There wasn't enough light for her little orb to noticeably shine. But she supposed she could forgive him. On the excuse that he'd clearly just woken up and had no idea about anything. And why trust a stranger's word? For all he knew she was lying just to keep him sedated, still. Like she needed him for something, needed him fully aware of his surroundings just enough to suit her desires. So she had offered her blood.

Course that wasn't really it. She hadn't been long in this world, either. There was nothing she could have needed him for. Not yet. The world was large and she wanted to learn about it all. There might be something out there she'd want him for. Why not? Anything was possible.

The Light B'alam sighed, feeling the tinge of a little headache herself. How many times did she have to go over that?

"You think I have enough power to light the entire world? You are insufferable. Stay around until dark and I will show you how much I can brighten." Than she made a hmph sound in her throat and turned her head away to look somewhere else. She'd leave him behind if she had any idea of where to go. Put this annoying exchange behind her once and for all. Instead, she kept her ground and barely moved a muscle, except for continue flicking the tip of her tail, more urgently this time.

Xero bristled to the answer he received from the nantil. She surely was a piece of work. How would she know that it went down? Again, the answer felt very obvious. His inner most being knew he was being quite stupid with his claims and over estimating the abilities of one woven just as he was. However, admitting it would mean admitting he was wrong. That had to have been a worse fate than anyone could have imagined.

A huff to mimic her own, only far deeper and gravely rattling around in his own throat, sounded shortly after her's.

"And how long would that be?" Xero retorted with a growl. "Surely you would know that, considering you know so much about this accursed light."

He allowed his disbelief to be as obvious in his voice as the sun sitting low in the eastern portion of the sky. Another side to this obviously silly questions, well, she couldn't leave without answering them! That would mean he won. By some law he just now considered might be set in some unspoken word. Xero guessed she was stubborn, just like he was. She had to be. She was still there, so that meant that was true, right?
