I was looking up fanfiction to read about one of my favorite Korean bands (now disbanded, if you've heard of H.O.T.), and came across a gay fic about Tony and Woo-hyuk. At first I was confused and thought maybe they WERE gay (as they live(d) together), but then I showed my best friend and she said it was a whole type of fandom of its own. And then I found out how popular it really was!

Ok, ready for a ramble? A while ago I was new at a karate club and I befriended someone. We didn't really hang out except at karate, but it was fun. When she quit the club, we fell out of touch. After that, I got really into Yu-Gi-Oh! and I started reading fanfiction. I was new to it, so I didn't know what most of the terms used meant. I stumbled into a YamixYugi fic and went O.o O_O heart _ heart I looked around more fanfiction on Yu-Gi-Oh! and Evangelion, but I lived in an anime/manga deprived area so didn't really find any new fandoms. Then I ran into my old friend from karate at the library, and saw she was holding a manga. We started talking again, and I discovered she was an anime and manga fan. When I discovered she was a yaoi fan, I was thrilled. She let me watch some of her anime DVDs, read some of her manga, gave me links to good fanfiction, all kinds of stuff. We became much firmer friends than we had been the first time around. She helped me discovered a wider range of BL, and has been an awesome friend, so I am eternally grateful to her. Her gaia account is DarksLight. ^_^ [/ramble]

One of my friends were obsessed with it and mentioned it. As curious as I was, I decided to check it out and started reading some yaoi and shounen-ai fanfics. I just started it liking it more and more until I started becoming obsessed with it. heart

Shoujo, romance, all that kind of stuff was always my fave genre of manga or anime. Then, when I came across a shonen-ai manga, I really liked it alot more. There's always different elements with boy-love that makes it much more appealing, such as the "forbidden" aspect.

My friend brought a Shonen-ai to school one day, and I stole it. Of course, being the naive child I was, I pointed to one of the pictures of the two guys making out. And I said 'that couple is so cute!' she looked at me and said 'you know that's two guys right?' I tuirned it over and smiled. 'It's still cute!' and then it all started. sweatdrop

I went out to buy some manga and I picked up the first volume of two mangas, Wish and Fake. I read Fake and was like "Hey, this is cool". I have passed it on and all my friends enjoy it (evn the ones who aren't into Yaoi).
Now my poor friend Aaron who is usually the only straight guy surrounded by yaoi nuts (he has nothing against yaoi it's just not ''his cup of tea'. ) He always looks over at the wrong time and he has seen some very raunchy pictures. Poor Aaron.

I probably should have seen it coming when in HS, all those years ago, my friend and I had a long rant about why they turned Zocite (from Sailor Moon) into a woman just cause he was dating Kunzite/Malachite. Damn censors. I'm still annoyed about that. And don't get me started on Haruka and Michiru. >.>
It wasn't too long after I came across GW and one does not go through Gundam Wing (especially its fandom) unscathed. XD Like ShadowedMoonlight so eloquently put it... I went O_O heart _ heart

HAHA... This thread is so amusing! XD SOme really great stories in here...
As for me... I have a friend that writes (fantastic) yaoi fanfics. I think she was afraid to let me read them. But then I was like... "Hm... boys making out? Bring me more!"
I was pretty much hooked. ^^;

Iras - First Experiences with Shounen-Ai/Slash/Yaoi
Prepare for a Rant
Now, I had watched things like "In & Out" and seen a few things with gay people in them, and never thought much about it, except that I accepted it. At this time, I had just discovered fanfiction.net (through a friend) and decided to read some Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfics. I started with traditional pairings (Yami x Anzu) and went towards weirder ones (Shizuka x Seto) and then, stumbled across one of my current OTPs, Seto x Katsuya. I read it, I loved it, I can't stop it now.
First Shounen-Ai Fanfic Pairing: Seto x Jounouchi First Yaoi Fanfic Pairing: Draco x Harry First Shounen-Ai Manga/Anime: Eerie Queerie! First Yaoi Manga/Anime: The Art of Loving Current OTPs: Seto x Jounouchi, Harry x Draco Current Favorite Shounen-Ai/Yaoi: Sukisho, Loveless, Gravitation
