What Gaia means to me?

The freedom to go anywhere and find something interesting to talk about. Showing off your avatar, being a "new you" sort-of speak.

The past 10 years have been wonderful. And I'd like to insure another 10.

To me Gaia is like it's own magical world because every time I log on I get to add to one long ongoing story with my friends and our avatar characters. Sorry for sounding cheesy there... ^^'

++ I guess I'll add mine here too!
To me Gaia is motivation. To keep me going at certain hobbies that secretly get better
behind my back without me knowing. Debates. Art. Interpersonal communication. ++

Gaia to me used to be a place where I could escape poverty, prejudice and bullying. I would play Zomg when it was still going with tons of users, get items and dress up nicely and everything was affordable with a little bit of work. I entered in art contests held by the site's mods and such. This place was good for progress in my art, support and escape from reality when I needed that break. Gaia before all this new stuff never reminded me how poor I was, and I liked that about the old gaia. Because everywhere else in my life reminded me every day how much in poverty I was. And it hurts, it hurts being reminded that your only food will be school lunch, that your home might be different each day, your bed is made of cardboard or you sleep on the floor, your new clothes will come from the back alley of the cap office covered in lice and fleas, that you might be attacked when you go to school by bullies because you look poor and weak. It was a tough time and I don't think gaia would have been much help for me if it was how it is right now.

I can say that I am in a better place now. I am no more rich but live with a supporting friend and am able to make enough money on my art to buy food and clothes when need be. I am also far away from the state I grew up in. Which has helped my health a ton. Gaia is no longer what it used to be for me. All it is now is for me to RP a little and chat with friends who refuse to use Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter like archaic cave men.

Gaia is a hurdle I decided to jump when I joined at '09. I gave up a year later, but I've returned because I feel like I have a chance of jumping it this time.

My missions were:
zOMG- To level up my rings and beat the game.
Art- To get so good that people would pay for a portrait.
Items- To clear my wishlist and parade in my glorious inventory.

Which explains why I'm so furious with inflation, and why I don't want Gaia to cave in just yet. yum_puddi

Gaia to me is my place to get away from even. Even though crap happened here too. Lol. I frst joined at the very beginning of Gaia because I am a writer. So for years all I did here was rp and little else(I love trick-or-treating and caroling). Rping is still the main reason I am here. I also run or help run a lot of guilds and would hate to leave them. Plus I have two charities and bump shop so I love a lot of things here.

Gaia to me was the escape from a troubled and chaotic home life. Later, it became an outlet for my creative energies and connect with friends. Initially when I first joined Gaia, I was content to play the games and browse the forums. Eventually, I made it into the Barton town and began to role play. At first I was terriable! I mean, I was really bad at it but I did improve over time. I fell in love with expressing myself through my writing, my art, and customizing my avi. In my writing I found confidence and joy when I needed it. And, as cheesy as it sounds, I grew up here on Gaia and I learned a lot. I've made friends here that have influenced and changed my life in profound ways. And it was also here, nearly 8 years ago, that I met my significant other. The memories I have here and the rp'ing are likely the best reasons for why I've stayed as long as I have..

To me, gaia was something I'd go to to chat with friends, play games and forget troubles. Hell, most of my friends I now because of gaia. I was never great at talking with people in person, but gaia and everyone I met through gaia, helped me become who I am now. Met a lot great people. Met three former girlfriends and my current one through it. Gaia's gone downhill since I started...but I stay because I believe it can maybe get better. yum_puddi yum_puddi yum_puddi
