Hehehe, I know what that feels like. I remember my Little Lucie. I was saving up for a Mercury's Moon, but then I saw how cheap Little Lucie was, and that I could buy Biancamella and Trilune's Covenant from what's left. So, long story short, I still don't have any Mercury's Moon sweatdrop You'll get out of it soon enough, when you get tired of the items out there.
No, I don't really fish, sorry sweatdrop I have tried it, but I just couldn't get how it works, so in the end, I just stuck to booty grab, the fastest way to earn gold (other than using actual money in buying that is).
Well, you need to be active in your quest thread. People won't really donate to you just because you posted a quest thread, you have to show them how dedicated you are. Stick around, talk to people, visit other threads... that would make people know who you are and know what you're up to.

What do you get from fishing? Do you actually catch gold there? The only thing I got when I played it were the frustrated speech bubbles that appear over you when you can't catch anything rofl
Yeah, stick around there and chat with people who come along. Contests and other quirks might also help people come in and stay. My quest thread is also kind of a tipping thread. I basically just ask people to help me by tipping me. At first I thought that the tips would increase my gold count faster, but in the end, I never really notice the tips made. However, it did boost up my morale to see so many people tip my posts. It made me want to stick around more and be more disciplined with my questing.
