I listen to virtually everything under the sun but Opera, Blue Grass, and heavy metal.
I don't really stick to one genre...my musical taste generally changes with mood....last week I was in a Country mood, this weekend I've been listening to both classic and modern rock...so it depends...
And I do enjoy new bands like the Flobots and I'm really into a band out of Britain called Last Picture Show...they have a different yet familiar sound that I'm drawn to.

As far as rock goes, I still listen to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Ten Years After, CCR, Heart, etc. But ever so often I throw in Nightwish, Metalica, Enya, Marilyn Manson, EvaneScence, Linkin Park, theres a few more but my brain is not bringing anything to forefront for me to type down. My preference has always been classical music and techno. The latter was harder to find in the 70s. But now it's everywhere and I so happy! 3nodding

I really enjoy classic rock more than anything. My faves, just to name a few, are Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, and the Beatles.

My Profile has a ton of music I like from the old school stuff I used to listen to ... and the more recent stuff. Lately, I've been listening to Abney Park, Emilie Autumn, Dr. Steel, Perfect Circle, Assembladge 23, VNV nation, Kate Nash, Adele... Most of the time my player is on random though... it plays J rock and J pop, blues (love me some Ella), metal, EBM, goth (gotta have some Cruxshadows and The Cure), Steampunk, alternative, R and B... and what ever else is on it.

I was a rock baby, then when I was like 9 I went to listening to country (why I have NO idea.. wait, my best friend didn't like rock anyway) I grew up on Ozzy, Ratt, Poison, Alice Cooper etc, my genre of music was always vast, and it's always been that way. I could listen to Alice Cooper one minute, TLC the next and the minute after that a techno song. But then again, my music tastes might be because I had a teenager for a mother, and we both loved music. Still do. We go to concerts together and everything. lol.

I find new bands from time to time, usually from friends, but occasionally through the media. I recently got into The Magnetic Fields.
As for tastes... I like a little bit of everything. Even in genres I don't care for (country and rap) there are artists or songs that I do enjoy. And I like opera and polka, so when I say 'a little bit of everything', I kid thee not.
Perennial favourite, though, would have to be MeatLoaf.

The only musical genre I still don't listen to is country music.
I listen to a variety of genres as I got older. When I was younger, I grew up on rock, metal, and reggae. These days I'm getting into performers like Jamiroquai, Matisyahu, Tomahawk, etc.

music is very important for me....for my life and my job. I usually listen to rock and pop.....bands like HIM, linkin park or others like phil collins. my taste is always different... sometimes I like only rock, then I'm only listening to J-rock and the last days I'm only listening to a wonderful pianist. I think it's always up to in which kind of mood I am...when I'm sad or lonely or only want to relax, then it has to be maksim mrvica or josh groban. when I'm happy and full of energy it's rock smile but with the time, the music always changes, because there are more and more new upcoming musicians....so it never ends whee

What kind of music I most enjoy depends entirely upon where I am, what kind of mood I'm in, and what I'm doing.
Laying down in the late afternoon to take a nap: Smooth Jazz (OH NOEZ THE SMOOOOOTH JAZZ COUNTDOWN! twisted ), New Age, or Electronic Ambient
Working: Classical. Keeps my blood pressure down.
Driving home from work: 80's hits OR alt-rock like Serj Tankian/Against Me!/Tool/Paramore, etc.
Nostalgic: Disco, E.L.O. OR 80's/90's hits

Music isn't music anymore. It's old classics rehashed into monotonous... stuff...
They even stole the name R&B! That's Rhythm and Blues! A FORM OF JAZZ, which is DECENT MUSIC, not that... that... noise!
At least call you're 'Rhythm and Beat' B&R!
As for rock? It's all sounding... the same... what happened to the glory days of my parents?
...Did I just say that?

Communist Riott To anyone who likes the Cardigans for more than just Lovefool (or even just the album "First band on the moon") deserves some real props! I too love The Cranberries and Garbage (i have every garbage album sitting infront of me). I am also drawn to female vocals, but she doesn't need to have a particularly strong voice. I really enjoy 'til Tuesday and Aimee Mann's solo work. She is incredibly poetic, and you can hear the emotions in her voice. That is important to me. As for male vocalists I enjoy; Morrissey is a god. Simple as that. heart Morrissey heart I don't think I'm actually old enough to say that I love old music but I do. I'm from Michigan. I've been to Hitsville USA and I love motown and soul. And Death metal. And post-punk, UK punk, french chanson (so long as it's not too electro), brazilian salsa. Michigan also has a strong, thriving Middle Eastern community and I love the way the sitar sounds. So no.... I don't really keep up with the times as far as music goes. Of course there are exceptions.... *hugs Weezer*

I absolutely cannot STAND what has happened to modern day hip-hop and rap, but there were a few choice faves of mine I still listen to old tracks of, such as En Vogue, Toni Braxton, TLC, Fugees, and MC Hammer. I'm nota big fan of the pop music of this generation.. it seems like it sucks more a** every year. However, I still love a bit of rock and roll, alternative rock, jazz and blues and anything but the absolutely female-condemning rap and hip-hop this century has produced. Is it me, or after the 1980s & 1990s, everything started to suck a little more with each year? cry
