Working on Warrior 3, finding that it has quite a bit of dust on it.

Rather than painting over the dust, I decided to figure out a way to get it off effectively, and here's what I came up with.

Take a large, soft brush, dip it in water, partially dry it, and brush the model off all over. 3nodding

I gave up and I'm about to start work on my Hive Tyrant; I'll be working on this and the final Warrior at the same time.

Right now, I'm working on making the base, which ought to be a feat in itself; A 60mm flat base cut in half, about 2 inches of Plasticard added to extend the base, then I need to build up a rock ledge sloping in one direction, for fleeing and sheltering Guardsmen to be interacting with.

Don't you think you're overdoing it a tiny bit with the scenic base? sweatdrop You're almost doubling its size, that would make it less game friendly.

Some ways, but with that Tyranid, it can be better to be base-to-base with more models; its Lash whip means that all models in base-to-base with it lose one attack each.

Myesss and this is where I would object. Something like that wouldn't float in our club. Mounting a human sized model onto a 40mm base is okay and epic, but what you are doing, almost doubling the size is not very sportsmanlike. Yes it might result in a nice scenic base but for not suited for gaming. Take a look at the Nid army of Marco Schultz, he has scenic bases and the like, but doesn't increase the base size.

The base expansion is also front-to-back, and most assualts are on a rough line; the front of the base is not any wider at all, so the actual impact on the number of models in base-to-base is minimal.

I also think I mentioned earlier in this thread that the Tyranid army was almost entirely a showcase army anyway, though I might not have.

I seem to recall reading in a thread somewhere that by GW rules, increasing a base size is legal, though decreasing it is not.

I'd also point out that a Tyrant is simply big enough to take up the entirety of even the expanded base.

Edit: I also just did the math: using a 40mm base for a 25mm model is tripling the area.

That requires going out and buying a model, I have more than enough to work on at the moment. sweatdrop
