I've read Watchmen and I am fairly certain that the movie will not succeed. The comic has such depth and charisma, I doubt that it can all be retold on the silver screen. The movie stills I've seen do look promising, but I'm not holding out for this one.

The latest Rambo movie is one big gore fest of exploding bodies and gore, double win! blaugh It did occur to me that all what John really needs is a big hug instead of all that thinking stuff. Have you hugged your Rambo today? heart

Unfortunately, my Rambo went missing before I got into a hugging mood.
Coincidentally, a stream of killings occurred shortly after he disappeared.
I doubt there's a connection, though.

I really liked the new Rambo movie.
It was more Rambo than Rambo, which made for such awesome Rambo viewing.

Seriously, only Rambo could literally tear a guy's throat out.

I loathe to admit, but Hollywood does sometimes deliver in between all the rubbish and utter s**t.

Rambo is good, a little high on the redemption and *zoom in on face and watch person GASP IN SHOCK* crap, but it was good and satisfying. Only Rambo could tear out a throat with his bare hands, hijack a .50 and mow down half an army. However, it did show some pretty gruesome and miserable things as well. What of the four other girls on that stage? Gang raped most likely. And why didn't Rambo stop the evil commander from having sex with that boy? It goes to show that not everything can be made good with violence. Kudos on the realistic violence and gore though, when that would-be rapist was stabbed to death, it had to be one of the most realistic stabbings I've seen in a movie to date.

There Will be Blood is also good, it is most likely beyond the scope of most people here, but if you like a drama set against the late 19th, early 20th century, watch it.

I've also rewatched Batman Begins to prepare for the upcoming sequel. This is about the only superhero movie I am looking forward to this Summer. It's also one of the few reboots that really works out well. Same goes for Casino Royale, I am looking forward to the Quantum of Solace.

Happy Songfestival pre-lims by the way. Finland rules.

Iron Man breaks the mold for Marvel comics movies. Where before they have been mediocre and off cannon this movie take the nail and smashes it with a slegdehammer

Remember, Mac wears a monocle, suede morning coat, fez and felt slippers at home while smoking a pipe and enjoying a real paper like the Times, not that smut from the Sun.

Well said. The weeaboo's around here are of the level of Naruto and Ideo Kojima, not Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson.

Americans are going to do a movie about the Battle of Britain and the main character is an American who in real life got shot down in the early days of the war and died, but in the movie will most likely screw Churchill's daughter and singlehandedly win the air war against Germany. British will have the outrageous "funny" accents and most other nations that flew during the campaign will most likely be omitted. So no flying Poles gonk

@Mat: looks are not everything, if you read the comic you'd understand why so many people are against making a film of it. There is just so much going on in the comic that it just can't be summed up in a movie of two hours.

No, its the whole comic, seeing as the Comedian is in it and the story starts out with him dead and squished. Visuals aside I am going to wait and see. Same with GIJOE, though Sienna Miller looking like this is a good thing:

*can't find image of a gun-toting Baroness at the moment*
