For more werewolves, Skinwalkers. For vampires and werewolves, Underworld and Underworld 2. And Blade, Blade 2 and Blade Trinity for just vampires.

Yup. Works in maths, computer science and QBL.
It's a good film but the sound in it makes me violently ill.

Speaking of obscure horror films involving witchcraft and the occult...

Necromancy

It's a low budget occult thriller, but like most Burt I. Gordon films delightfully creepy and disturbing. domokun

Event Horizon

Obscure scifi film but it does indeed dip into concepts of magic and extra dimensional existence. (gods devils whatever)

On top of all that it has 2 Scientologists and is an all around lame movie.

The Butterfly Effect for an example of the idea of "retroactive enchantment" found in chaos magic. Also, Secrets of the Occult is a good introductory documentary.

*Cheer*

Well then, I reccommend 'The famished road- ben okri'
It's about an african spirit child (in the book they refer to it as an abiku child, but I know them as obanje's). Who has chosen to stay living on earth.
The book is about his life and interactions with the spirits around him who want to take him back home. There's an entire chapter where he goes to the otherworld.
Set in the 90's, it's laden with african superstition and folk religion blended with christianity.
Everyone go read it now!

Oh.. I thought you meant like a whole new thread...

I know there is a Recommended Reading thread, but the fiction section in the first post is rather small...

Has anyone watched Haxan (The Witch), a silent film from Denmark made in 1922 about the medieval witch hunts? Although the first chapter of the documentary makes too much use of classical artwork to illustrate the medieval view of the universe, later chapters of the film use a number of bizarre and surreal images to reveal the dark secrets of the Witches' Sabbat.
In spite of the fact that the film was made from a Christian point of view, it is quite accurate in depicting the mass hysteria which gripped Europe during the medieval witch hunts and attempts to explain it from the viewpoint of modern psychiatry. Well worth watching.

No It doesn't. At least not in the sense your presenting it.
