Somber_isis_Queen Hm..How to do this w/o flaming? lol Okay, just to say something, I agree with a lot of you. There are many jerks...and teenies that shouldn't be saying certain stuff...But just because you've run into a couple of idiots, that doesn't mean there aren't thousands of hardcore fans who are super nice people, (like a lot of people in this guild, which is why I joined it.) that are out there listening to 'Bullets' or any other MCR song for that matter. Also, I'm not saying you're bad people. I'm just a little disappointed. I think a lot of people have lost touch with MCR's meaning. Yes, The Black Parade was a little eccentric. But who EVER said that Gee, or the rest of the band for that matter, wasnt'?! I think it's a beautiful CD, you have the right to your opinion, but I think real fans love whatever they do, even if it's polka...or...*shudders* country. Yes, they'd never do it, but what I'm trying to say is love them for what they are. I am extremely disappointed by the fan base decrease just because they ventured out of their little bubble of punk rock or whatever you wish to call the 'Revenge' era. If it wasn't for TBP, I don't even know who I'd be. MCR truely DID save my life, in more ways than one. I'm sorry, but I have a serious problem with people who go around calling MCR "gay" or "emo" because of a little costume change. Listen to the lyrics. The messages are the same....Like in LOTMS, Gerard says something to the effect of "Don't be afraid of being messed up, because there's 5 guys just as messed up as you" *note, I'm sure these aren't the exact words he said, but close to it at least.* Get over it, They're not going to marry you either. If you can get a message out of their songs, more power to ya. They're maturing guys....If you don't like their music, don't listen to it, and stop whining about how crappy it is to you. That is all wink I compleatly agree. I got into their music because of the black parade and the lyrics of the songs in TBP really spoke to me at the time for what I was going through. but I hate when im talking to an MCR fan who thinks they are better than me cause they were into MCR when they were going Three Cheers. I am a fan too and I should be respected as one I think.

_Ghostette_ I hate some newer fans, to be quite Frank, pun intended. I've been a fan since the release of Helena. Technically, that would make me anything between older fan and newer fan, but I don't rank with the teenies. Instead of ONLY listening to Three Cheers, I went out and learned the band back-to-front. I learned everything I could, everything I could get my hands on and my mind around, I know it. Everything. It's actually BAD. I also run a fansite on MySpace called The Black Parade Around The World. that is me and another fan:] but some of the new fans act all high and mighty and TEST older fans, such as myself. I consider myself an older fan, just because they've progressed GREATLY since I learned about them. I'm not a fan of TBP. I actually despise it. and the newer songs as well, the ones that are un-named and that song Stay isn't great, either. I don't like the direction the band has taken, but I am a fan...of the OLD MCR. New MCR just doesn't strike any heart strings like the old stuff does. And that disappoints me, because I have ad a long love for them:[ _Ghostette_ I am bitter with all the new material and the change in the members and whatnot. MCR will always be five beautiful boys from Jersey and one from Chi-town who were a little f**ked up. I liked them better when they were f**ked up, they seemed more real to me. Not anymore:[ I AM BITTER. the reality of it is that they are older, they are maturing and I think that though they still have the passion and they energy to still be musicans, you are still [i think] in like with the younger versions of gerard, mikey, frank, ray and bob. Their music has changed, yes, but as you said, they have changed. I personally like The Black Parade. Sometimes I like something mellow and some of what is on the album is somewhat mellow. The truth as it is, is that the cd's have been becoming quieter and quieter since "Bullets." Bullets was loud and screaming and all over the place [also had some of the best lyrics out of all their cd's] and The Black Parade is more tonned down, but instead of metaphores, they are just throwing everything out there, as it is. Such as the song cancer, that song is so sad and has so much feeling because it is so truthful to what having cancer might be like. It could be filled with methaphores but it wouldnt be as real that way. I have only been a fan since The Black Parade came out [though I think I listened to the Three Cheers album a couple times before knowing who MCR was] but I as you learned them back and front. I went out and got all the music of their I could get my hands on, I got Life on the Murder Scene, I watched interviews, read interviews and just looked up as much as I could find. Also I do like the Three Cheers album but I do respect that for the Black Parade album Gerard was totally sober. If you have ever watched life on the murder scene [and from what you say I assume you did] you will see he was really messed up during most of that album, drugs, alchol, ect. He almost killed himself over his depression. I really feel like Gerard almost sounds like a new voice on the Black Parade album because he has over come so much. Thats just my feeling on the matter though.

Now that I think about it...
It's sort of like...They're being re-born..
(Or now, should the term be, they WERE being re-born? haha)
Gerard was...sober for some of Three Cheers, but this was like starting clean for them.
I can't wait for TBPID!
So far away ><

Honestly, I've only been a fan since Three Cheers, because I heard Helena on the radio. That was about the same time I got into FOB. But, obviously, it doesn't matter how long you've been a fan. Just as long as you love any other fan like they are a part of you. That's what I believe, because My Chem fans are NOT like any other fans. We're much more of a family, aren't we? We've been through thick and thin with each other, even though we aren't right there next to each other, holding hands.
We're a freakin' cult. heart

For one thing {and I don't want ANY of this to come out like a flame}, who cares how long you've been a fan? You could've been their first fan and be the biggest teeny bopper in this guild, or you could've heard Teenagers on the radio, gone home, listened to more on YouTube, and know every song by heart and be a fan. Time is just a number, it's not the judge of who you are.
But, yes, MCR fandom has taken a turn. I will admit I haven't been a fan for very long, but like I said above, that doesn't change how much of a fan I am. I won't run around, screaming that I'm MCR's biggest fan and that I'm going to marry Gerard. I've listened to every album, watched LOTMS, seen them live at PR. I'm not 'broken-hearted' over Gerard's marriage with Lyn-Z {if anything, I embrace it, MSI and MCR are two amazing bands, and I think they make a good couple}. More fans are teenies who are crying and complaining, but who cares? Soon that fad will die down and as was said before, the true fans will return. We need to stay united as a family, though, no matter what. MCR fans aren't just like other fans; we're dedicated, loyal, and we stick together like we've got glue all over us. And we need to continue with that, for these boys who have grown and matured from five f**ked up adolescents, to five f**ked up men.
That's what I have to say.

Brilliant, thank you! I hate how things have almost become a contest to see who's a real fan or not. If you like the music, you like the music. I mean, of course there are those annoying people who don't actually know anything about MCR, but even they should be allowed to enjoy the music. It shouldn't be necessary to be totally obsessed with a band to enjoy it. Also, just because their old music was different, doesn't mean it was better.
