This reminds me of how a person text into a talk radio discussion on Ireland's upcoming civil partnership bill saying that if you look up marriage in a dictionary, it only mentions union between a man and a woman.

The host of the show basically commented on this, saying that he had looked it up, and that isn't the only, singular definition of it.

That has to be one of the absolute worst counter-arguements ever. People shape what language does, and the meaning of words. If they didn't, where would we be? Meanings change and evolve. neutral
