I think some people here are a little confused...lol

Girls loving yaoi doesn't mean they're gay/lesbians...in fact that's what female-made or whatever yaoi is known for being aimed at...females. I'm sure some people assume that girls reading yuri are lesbians but they don't assume girls reading yaoi to be lesbians.

But yeah, anybody could be "straight" or gay or bi or whatever...and read yaoi...doesn't mean they are definately gay or bi.

If I saw a guy reading/watching a yaoi I wouldn't assume anything. I would just go over and start reading/watching with them.

Or if they seemed like the kind of person who would get too nervous if I did that, I would just smile, wave, and leave.

I dunno what I would do. xD Cause I do have a guy friend that's into yaoi, but he's gay, and we talk about our fav pairings, lol. <33

I'd probably be like "Wha? o.o" at first, but hey~ That's their thing, right? ^^ To assume that they are homosexual or bi- would be like when people assume I'm a lesbian because I have short hair; it's just silly. xD <3

Plus, some of the yaoi stories and plots are super awesome! Makes for great reading material =D

I don't think it would automatically make him gay...I just think it would make him cooler. In my case I have a male friend that occasionally reads yaoi (Mostly by my influence sweatdrop ) but it's for the sake of art. You see he's an artist and according to him he finds that in yaoi/shonen-ai manga the male body is drawn with more detail.

No.. I dont judge. maybe giggle and strike up a conversation or just walk on past. There is a guy in my art class that loves Loveless. He wants to borrow some of my yaoi books.

He once told me he'd rather read hardcore yaoi then see the images.

>_<

wow, u actually know a guy who loves Loveless??!! whee Lucky you!! All the guys in my art class are like "That's just sick!" and "I can't believe you watch gay cartoon porn!" and I just wanna smack their silly little heads off! scream stressed Lucky you... stare

I do not see where reading a yaoi manga would point to homosexuality. Not at all. One of my favorite pairings includes two females from Loveless, and, I am not attracted to other females, to call myself a lesbian.

I actually know several straight males who enjoy yaoi. For one, I know that the story is what he goes in for, not necessarily the relationships, and/or sexual tension(s). He especially enjoys the Fighter/Sacrifice arrangements, in Loveless. I once heard him say, "Ritsuka could be a girl, for all I care!" Another friend of mine was reading FAKE, and, half-way through the second volume, he was screaming, "Get Him In Bed, Already, Dee! Get Your Act Together, And, Put Him To The Sheets!"

I have also sat down to watch such anime as Gravitation with male friends. My brother is a big fan of Yami no Matsuei, and, while it is not technically a yaoi... The undertones never bother him.

Personally, I find the relationship dynamics much more appealing in same sex relationships, and heterosexual ones are so common in literature and movies that, while I can enjoy and appreciate them from time to time, for the most part I find them boring.

And, as a side note, well-said. I am in complete agreement.

I probably would without meaning to.... or.. maybe not. 'cause I wouldn't just assume he's gay, I'd think more along the lines of "I wonder if he's gay."

So yeah, I guess not. *shrugs*

Same with me. ^^

Haha. XD Samee. I wouldn't care if he was gay or not. He could be into it and like it even if he was straight.

Nope. Just cause I've met plenty of guys who read yaoi, and aren't gay, and only one guy who reads yaoi, and is gay.

Speaking completely...

Well, it would depend on the age rating of the manga.
If it was Older Teen or whatever I might (if I was in a particularly confident mood) go over and start talking.
If it was M, I'd probably just go back to reading whatever the heck I had my nose stuck in. And mentally slightly question.

Anyway, it's my opinion that sexual orientation isn't quite a cut and dried as most people would consider it. More like varying degrees.

But it doesn't automatically make you gay/bi if you read something with a same gender pairing of your own gender and enjoy it. rolleyes

I believe that every one is at least bi to some extent, so I'd just keep on doing what I was doing or talk to him.
