I always liked Transformers... even if it was a 30 minute commerical along with all the other cartoons of my childhood. As for the Thundercats it was a show that had its moments of reasonable glory amist its mostly mediocre few seasons of existence. Of course after saying that I did watch it a lot growing up. Also how the heck does a gigantic gyro in the center of a planet keep it gather? eek stare Did anyone else notice that the snarfs were basically Thundercat slave labor? I mean damn they probably fed them soylent snarf to keep food costs down.
The Looney toons cartoons are some of the best ever made and what's more amazing is they were done by a handful of people in three weeks... where as today it takes a whole studio, computers, and other nutters just to squeeze out a few episodes a year. talk2hand Oh and the Disney cartoons like Darkwing Duck and Duck Tales were very good, well at least I remember them as being good. My memory doesn't always work to well since well....since... hrm when was it again. rofl

GI Joe all the way. I was such a GI Joe geek growing up. Transofrmers was enjoyable. He Man was cool. Jason and the Wheeled Warriors(?) I seem to have fond memories off. Alvin and the Chipmunks (I don't believe they've been mentioned yet!) was a Saturday morning fav along with the Smurfs. The Pirates of Darkwater (another that seems to have been missed) was far too short for how awesome it was. I always enjoyed The Real Ghostbusters. Dangermouse? How can you go wrong with that? Count Duckula was another great one. Dinosausers? I won't vouch for the quality, but I really enjoyed it. Inspector Gadget? Go full conversion 'borgs!!!! First few seaons of Mask was quality (if a half hour commerical). For the Disney block: Gummi Bears, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, Alladin, Boonkers, and of course Gargoyles (which was just awesome). Tiny Toones and Animaniacs were both great.
Thundercats, I remeber that I loved it, but, ahhh, I know better then to watch it now. Same story with Voltron (man, but I loved that show when I was a kid). Bionic Six? I rember watching it, but not much else details wise. Captain Planet? Yeah, ahh, maybe if they weren't total tools...
Anyone else remember Bigfoot and the Musscle Machines or Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling?
Ah man, I know there are a bunch of cartoons I used to watch that I'm missing, but these are the big ones I remember off hand.
As for more current cartoons, there is some quality out there. Avatar? Ain't nothing wrong with that. Kim Possible was suprisingly good. The Clone Wars cartoon? Aweomse. Samurai Jack kicked a ton of a**. Dexters Lab was always fun to watch. Danny Phantom has it's moments. And where does Batman Beyond fall? Cause, that was 10 pounds of awesome in a 5 pound bag!

Oh man, I really miss most of those cartoons, but I watch them online sometimes. Plus, now-a-days you can watch the original Japanese anime with subtitles that aren't jacked up and changed.
My ultimate favorite, though, has to be Tom & Jerry / Tom & Jerry Kids! on the simpsons they did a great job of showing the truth about T & J with the Itchy & Scatchy show.
Others unnamed, i think, are Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixie Tails Strawberry shortcake, Pinky and The Brain, so many others.
I Love Captain Planet and Thundercats, thank you very much. Along with the classics of Looney Tunes and the original Goofy tutorials (those things were hilarious)

Isbjorn dinkthemushroom Captain Planet was awesome, well, at least I thought so when I was a kid. I've always wondered how the kid with the "Heart" ring dealt with the fact that he was royally screwed when it came to ring power. Everyone else had the "cool" elemental powers...and he could psuedo talk to animals. Poor kid. I always wondered that to, I mean yeah talking to animals is kinda cool but I'd pick controlling fire or water over that any day! I think I am the only person that remembers the weird "What if" type episode where it showed the Planeteers being evil. Heart kid was totally mind controlling people. He had the best power he just never abused it like he should have.

I am going to be a stick in the mud here and say that the cartoons of the 80s and 90s were crap. I have tried to watch some of them recently and all I want to do is claw my eyes out. There are some cartoons today where I want to do the same, but not all.

There are some cartoons today where I want to do the same, but not all. Its honestly the same crap just in a new package. Advertise products and teach children about kindness or sharing. Now there's Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh back in my day it was Captain N and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

There are some cartoons today where I want to do the same, but not all. Well, I'm just happy to know I'm not alone. There's still some good stuff on now and there were even a few nifty animated things back in the 80s, but mostly it was crap. Half hour commercials, jingoism and after-school-special propoganda (that I don't think most kids really beleived, anyway.) I mean, I knew this one kid who ended up doing a couple years for posession of some substance or other... I think it was just grass, but he loved all those 'toons with messages. I think the really twisted and bizarre cartoons are more worth remembering because their creators tried to do something a little different. But, then again, I liked Duckula, so who am I to talk?

Harbone I think the really twisted and bizarre cartoons are more worth remembering because their creators tried to do something a little different. But, then again, I liked Duckula, so who am I to talk? What's not to like about a zany, vegetarian, vampire duck with the voice of David Jason and a Castle that can teleport? smile The 80s revival continues apace in the UK. They're releasing Mysterious Cities of Gold onto DVD at last. I'd be jumping up and down in glee if I hadn't bought the French boxset a year or two ago... DW

I miss the 80s idea of diversity which sometimes was more offensive than anything. Like how the Burger King Kid's Crew had the kid that was in a wheelchair and his name was Wheels.

When i was little i would deliberately wake up two and half hours before school and watch my morning cartoons like He-man, She-ra, smurfs, (my mother loved that show too), then their was also fraggle rock, had a whole line up and it was almost like a daily ritual for me my day just didn't feel right if i didn't watch my cartoons

My favourite cartoons when I was little were David the Gnome, Rupert, Muppet Babies, and Magic School Bus. I loved Reading Rainbow, Wishbone, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago. Now I still love those shows but have fallen into the Transformers G1 fandom heart .
