"Is there a problem with that?" Utsuki questioned, now getting really annoyed. "If you're still mad about yesterday I guess I should have visited another day." It looked like Kenichi wasn't really happy about the visit, so maybe it was best to leave.

"Yes, there's a problem with that," Kenichi snapped. "Make up your mind, kid, because you're giving off mixed signals right now. Of course I'm mad about the other day. You know that the entire way here, that father of yours was shouting at me about how I could dare to touch you and that if I'd done anything to hurt you, he would personally make sure I got worse than a life sentence in this stinking hell hole! Why didn't you say something?!"

Utsuki didn't say anything. What reply could he think of when he felt guilty knowing that he could have said just one helpful thing? He couldn't say that he was afraid of what his dad thought. Kenichi would just condescend him about it again.

Kenichi scowled at Utsuki. "I'm done. Come visit me when you figure it out... if I'm not on death row by that time." With that, he stood and started back to the commanding officer. "Get me out of here," he snapped at the guard.

Utsuki had never felt so lost since the day his mother died. He really wanted to apologize, but it wasn't going to do any good. All that was going to happen was a worse situation than what was going on right now.

Janet moved and put an arm around Utsuki's shoulders. "Come on, Utsuki. We'll visit him again another time. Let's give him some time to cool down, okay?"

"I guess you're right," Utsuki said dejectedly agreeing with her. He began wondering if this would be the last time he would see Kenichi. Maybe he should talk with the chief about the matter, that is if he ever built up the courage to do so.

Janet nodded and led the way out of the visiting room. "We'll come back in a week or so, okay? I'll bring you back whenever you think he and you are ready."

Utsuki just nodded and followed his tutor. At least she was able to cheer him up a little. The situation was getting a little worse, but until he figured out what the heck he was feeling he wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

The next week passed quickly, and Janet woke Utsuki up gently. "Come on. Get up, Utsuki. Do you want to go back and see if that man is up to talking again?"

"I don't know..." was Utsuki's only reply. Over the week, he couldn't identify his feelings even when he read about them. He didn't want to go back and have Kenichi get mad at him again.

Janet pulled the covers off his bed. "Utsuki, get up. You are going to talk to this man. It's been a week. You cannot, and will not, go on like this."

Utsuki reluctantly sat up. When his tutor put on a more commanding attitude, he knew this meant she was serious. He never was able to go against her at this point.

Janet nodded. "Now get dressed. Breakfast will be ready in ten minutes. If you're not down by then, you won't get breakfast."

Utsuki stood and headed to the bathroom, grabbing a change of clothes on the way. Might as well think of somethng to say while he got ready.
