Yeah, he's got a point. The closest thing to flamboyancy you'd see on a pilot is a scarf, and even then it's not that bad.

Not really.
But I have flown my father's plane a few times.
It's pretty fun but scary as hell to me.

It's weird, I have a fear of heights, yet when I really want to do something I can overcome it for a while.
