After Dame left finished leaving the room in her semi-dressed state, Daniel whacked himself in the head a few times with the book he had in hand. One of these days he was going to have to figure out what it was she did that was scrambling his brain. It didn't happen every time she walked by, but she seemed to be able to do it as easily as flicking a switch. Trying to get his mind onto something else, Daniel opened the book he was holding and tried to actually read it. He checked the title, Theoretical Reasoning of Electron Field Prediction, and raised an eybrow in wonder at finding a book he hadn't read through yet.
Flipping open to random page he began skimming without reading indepth. Almost immediately his mind began locking onto the information that he had picked up in other books, and as he did patterns started to emerge, and he began to read in earnest. By the time Dame's guests left, to whom Daniel gave a half-hearted wave being only half-aware of being spoken to, Daniel has opened four other books. Most of them concerning chemistry and physics, Daniel is flying back and forth across them, cross referencing and making connections.
Long after Dame had gone to bed, Daniel had long forgotten about trying to sleep. Instead he felt as he had just made a break through, though how it fit together with him, he still couldn't be sure. Writing the five words in large letters ona blank piece of paper, Daniel stared at them for moment.
"So, titanium, selnium, sulfur, calcium, and carbon. What am I supposed to do with you?
Leaning back Daniel scrubbed his eyes with a hand as a sigh escaped him. Everything always led to something it seemed. But with all his searching, all his discovery, he was still left with the single question that had started everything in his mind. Who, or what, am I?

((Long post is personal introspection and revelation.))
Daniel strolled out of the kitchen, half eaten sandwich in hand, looking at the door that Dame had just walked out of. He listened to her boot steps fade away and then nothing. Standing in the front room, Daniel finished eating his sandwich as he continued to watch the front door. He chewed slowly, listening to make sure no one was coming, and especially to ensure that no one was left in the apartment. Once the sandwich was gone, and he was certain that he was alone, Daniel leapt to the couch.
Sweeping the books on the table aside to reveal the stone tablet, he then dug the rod out from the couch cushion and started twirling it in a hand absent mindedly. After a quick scan of the runes on the tablet found no sign of the elements that he had come up with earlier, he settled in for a fresh look. It was an old story, even from the perspective of when the tablet was first carved many thousands of years ago. Daniel traced the story with a finger in the circular path that it followed.
It spoke of an ancient race that had once walked amongst the stars. A more literal translation described them as gods who straddled pillars of fire, but Daniel knew the description could only be space craft. There was a long stretch where the tablet's maker extolled the virtues of these 'gods', basically describing them as guardians of all the young races of creation. In general, the story seemed to imply they could do no wrong. Daniel skimmed a bit until he came to what he thought was key. Apparently, the 'gods' suddenly stopped showing up as regularly as they had. And then one last visit had brought word that a war had broken out in the 'far realms'. Bad things from unknown places had come, but were defeated, but at great cost.
The story implied that the gods consumed themselves in some fashion, forming a single super deity of some sort, but Daniel could only imagine that meant that these advanced people had been spent beyond the point of recovery. This last visitor left shortly after arriving, but not before relaying the news that something was being left behind to ensure the continued safety of the young races. The text became more ambiguous about what this thing was, but referred to it as "divine essence" and the "heart of all things".
Daniel picked up the rod as he stood and stepped to the center of the room. The tablet he had been shown, but the rod he had found on his own. And not surprisingly, at least not anymore, the rod was mentioned in the tablet as the "Divine Justice". Batakos in the ancient tongue of the tablet writer. It was supposed to be one of several that the 'gods' had scattered about, to be later found by the Coor'atu. Literally meaning "One who walks new trails". Though in the weeks that he had spent with his hosts, Daniel had learned the meaning to be closer to "One that finds the path."
With a twist of his hand, and a nudge of thought, the rod suddenly extended, and he was now holding a red lacquered staff. It was frighteningly light, though through testing he had found it ot be harder than any stone or metal he had struck with it. Just as suddenly the staff was back to its rod size. The people that had given him the tablet seemed to think he was this Coor'atu that was written of, and that he was tied to the "divine essence". Juggling the rod from hand to hand, Daniel posited a question to himself out loud.
"So if I am this Coor'atu, this Pathfinder, why can't I remember? And what am I supposed to be doing?"

Despite much protest, Karrie had taken Amy's phone away from her for a day after the party. After she nearly attacked Razz, it was decided it was best, by some, to not have Amy exposed to more of the problems at Aqua Springs until she calmed down. Since Kits was co-owner, she could handle the place and all of the problems for a day.
On Tuesday, though, Amy made sure to get her phone back. When she got the text from Kits, she nodded in agreement, even though Kits couldn't see her, and began to quickly type back. Deadly fury was not in her eyes this time, though, just simple anger was.
Amy's text to Kits I KNOW!! You should come over so we can talk about it. We can also talk about other AS stuff. I can make some drinks and snacks if you come over. What do you think?

Another day gone, and yet more questions risen from the few answers Daniel had found. Or at least he assumed them to be answers and not just his own imagination. Looking back on it all now made things seem almost ridiculous. A bizarre message from places unknown, became a list of stable isotopes of natural elements. Elements which at first seemed to have nothing in common, until Daniel had found two very distinctive references. Titanium and selenium were two key components in current semiconductive technology, especially in amplifiers.
Sulfur was closely related to selenium chemically, and theoretically could be combined with carbon in a super cooled state to create another form of amplifier. The reason it all seemed so incredible and impossible was the last part. Carbon bonded all too easily with calcium in the right conditions. Essentially, his research of the puzzle seemed to intimate the existance of organic amplifiers. So why don't I just dismiss it outright? Why does it feel so familiar?
Daniel stood straight from where he had been crouching on the rooftop of Dame's four-story apartment building. His t-shirt and shorts rippled in the cold night air, and though he felt that it was cold, Daniel could only think of his lack of concern for it. He felt it, knew that bare skin would not last long in such exposure. But he also knew that it would not truly touch him. As nothing ever did. On the streets below he saw the occasional person hurrying into a building, or a vehicle slowly arriving or departing. And none of it seemed to touch him anymore. Lifting a hand revealed that it held the jagged shard of metal that Dame had removed from his back on the day he had truly begun to understand how inhuman he truly was.
Placing the sharpest point of the shard against an upraised wrist, Daniel quickly yanked the shard down, and gashed his arm from wrist to elbow. He winced at the pain, and the same time at the lack of enough pain. The wound began to bleed profusely, but only for a moment. Suddenly the blood started to reverse and flow back into the wound, and then the wound sealed up, in perfect reverse from elbow back to wrist. Nothing. No more damage. No more pain. No more sign that anything had ever happened.
He was stuck. In more ways than one. His mind was stuck on figuring who he was. His body was stuck from ever truly changing. And yet he seemed unstuck from everything solid or real. So he had come up here, to start over. Maybe if he returned to where he had begun, with everything he had learned thus far, it would all start to make sense. As he raised both arms straight out from his body, a large gust of wind nudged at him and whipped his clothes about harshly.
"For clarity. For Hope."
And with those soft spoken words swallowed by the wind, Daniel stepped off the roof top and raced towards the ally below.

Kits Rose text from Kits to Amy Sure, I'll come over sometime this week, whenever we can work out a good time together.
Amy's text to Kits Great! I'm free this weekend. I was thinking of making eggnog and cinnamon rolls. Any other requests?

Daniel focused his mind on the moment of impact. He tried to trace the feeling of bones breaking and splintering, muscles twisting and stretching in ways that should render them completely destroyed. Daniel embraced the immense pain that was now setting his body on fire, though apparently enough damage could be done to his body, as Daniel at last lost his grip on consciousness and blackness swallowed him.
<<<<>>>>
Daniel found himself staring into the dark holes of the black and white mask of Mahvatshi. It was currently displaying a sneer of contempt, but the look was one of disdain. The mask suddenly receded into nothingness so quickly that Daniel wasn’t sure that any time had passed between the two states. A soft voice sounded from everywhere and nowhere.
Ssssooon. I can ffffeel it now. Ssssooon.
A soft chuckle echoed around the nothingness. Daniel was neither afraid, nor concerned. He was on a mission.
<<<<>>>>
When his eyes shot open, Daniel found himself looking back into the dark sky he had just leapt from. Sitting up straight he looked at himself, noting that his clothes had taken little damage in the fall. Remember damn it. Remember. He lifted his hands. When he had come to those weeks ago, he had been running on pure instinct. Knowledge so ingrained that it was almost autonomic. His hands had been the first things he had really noticed. He lifted them again, and the memory struck him. Surprise? No, intrigued. He had been intrigued because of something. A sudden twist in the back of his mind and Daniel felt as if the realization had physically hit him. He was intrigued because he was human. Again. He was human again. Implying that he hadn’t been.
Pushing himself to his feet Daniel walked slowly out from behind the building. A little shaken, but not truly surprised. As he made his way back towards the apartment he fought to not only hold onto the feeling from the memory, but to extrapolate it. Why here? Why no memory? Why did Mahvatshi pursue him? What was the creature looking… Mahvatshi was looking for something. Something that Daniel had. Or had known.
Walking in the door of the apartment his eyes fell on the rod and slate laying on the table. If he was supposed to be the true owner of that rod, and was supposed to be capable of defending entire races; if he could not be damaged or destroyed, then what could possibly have blanked his mind? What could have physically affected him?
Daniel found himself standing in the bathroom, staring into the mirror. His eyes seemed darker than he could recall since he first saw them.

Daniel felt whatever it was he was feeling lessen. And for the breifest of moments, he sensed it again, but further away. Then came Dame's tired voice from her room. For a moment the words themselves didn't actually register in his mind, and he had to shake himself.
"Uh, fine. I suppose."
Turning to look her way, Daniel feels the urge to just gather his things and leave before it got any more crazy. But he had learned a thing or two in his few weeks of memory. Instead, he walked to her door, leaning in the doorframe. For a blink, the ebbing feeling was there, but it was gone just as quickly. Crossing his arms, Daniel suddenly realized how ridiculous he must seem, standing there in jogging shorts and an undone dress shirt.
"So, uh. Rough day?"
