Hey guys just wanted to bring this to your attention.
There was a bit of an argument in the saxophone sticky in the woodwind/brasswind subforum.
I've already let them know that i'm watching them but i thought i'd let you guys know what they said so you know what has been going on.

Yo, I play tenor sax in beggining band. I been playing since around september, 2008 and im having problems with some notes. =[

When i try to hit high notes (and some low notes) it either squeaks or it sounds wierd. The only notes i can really play is when i dont have to use the octave key. I dont know if somethings wrong with me or my sax.

The sax is NOT mine its the schools and i use RICO reeds size 3 and my mouthpiece is size 3. Help?

ok try positioning the mouth piece differently on the neck. that has happened to me before. i had no idea what was going on, so i tried to fix it. i kept moving around the neck piece, and voila. it worked. also, the reason it might sound weird is because it might either be flat or sharp. arrange the mouth piece. ;D

..e.e...how long have you been playing? adjusting the mouthpiece does NOTHING besides change the tuning. this guy's problem was most likely his embouchure and/or his saxophone. if you want to "help" someone...make sure you actually have useful, valid information

third, i really dont need your criticism.

adjusting the neck wouldn't change anything but tuning either e.o...but, if you pulled it too far out the octave key wouldn't work..still...not valid information, even if you DID mean the neck

the fact that you don't understand just assists in your appearance of a "noob" sax player.

exactly. i practically am a noob tenor sax player. a very good one for that fact. Mrs.Fullerton has already asked me to be in Jazz Band. i am better then i 3 year saxaphone player in my same grade. i am better than a seventh grader. and i got my tenor sax in march. i started sax this year. so i really dont give a s**t about what you say. it doesnt effect me whatsoever.

first, if it didn't AFFECT(not effect) you then you wouldn't have bothered responding.

second, IF YOU'RE A NOOB DON'T TRY TO GIVE ADVICE!!! chances are you'll do MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more harm than help. for all you know, you could be ruining someone's musical career.

third, better than a 7th grader? big whoop. some of us here in this guild are playing on a college level. some of us have EXPERIENCE. USEFUL and VALID experience. and who care's if you're in the jazz band? chances are, most of the saxophonists in this guild are. i've been in the jazz band since i started the sax in the 8th grade. and before you say "haha you must suck, you only started in 8th grade" i've been playing clarinet since 6th grade, and i play both of them on a college level.

After this i replied with:

i'm in the SAXOPHONE(at least have the respect to make sure you're spelling saxophone correctly) section because, although i do play clarinet, i also play saxophone. it's really not that uncommon to find someone who plays the clarinet AND the saxophone...so...wtf is you problem?(btw, don't is spelled with an apostrophe and a lot is two words, not one.) it's only called messing up if you actually know how to spell the word in the first place.

I sent both of them warnings and i'll be watching them closely

I had to send one of them a comment instead of a PM because he turned his PM's to friends only.
Oh and because of posts like this should we turn this thread into admin only?
Maybe make another thread for them to posts the new sigs?

I accept a bunch at a time but it only says one made it. The rest are like "Request could not be accepted, it has already been accepted or has left the queue"

It just gets a bit laggy when there's a large amount in the cue that you accept

I get that too. It usually happens when there's about 5 people or so accepted at a time.
