Lil Brat *smirks* Good luck with that, Katana... If they had impulse control, they wouldn't be in the Behavior Unit ~ wink LOL, which is why we try to phase them out by their junior year! xd Usually by then they've learned what to do to be somewhat successful. We're still there for support, but they're not necessarily in there for a class....

*shakes head* See, that's why I could never be a teacher. I don't have patience for other peoples kids! I don't get that talking back and cursing adults out and all that other crap. I'll be the teacher they'll have to escort off the premises in handcuffs for putting my hands on one of them brats!

I couldn't be a teacher... there are minimal repercussions for mouthy kids these days ~ or at least not until they've broken several laws on multiple occasions. stare
Then they're handed off to the system to be "fixed" when it would never have gotten that far if someone had headed it off at the pass. xp

Oh, the stories I could tell ya'll...... blaugh

Oy, I bet ~ some kids are way out of control. Some simply because there's no supervision, and some just because they're so mental health and the parents didn't know what to do and didn't get any help.

Meh, you'd be surprised at the number of parents that don't realize what services are available to them if the child is classified as having a disability (& ED is a disability now), and more surprised at the parents who REFUSE services......

There's that, then there's the part where a kid can opt out of a parent being told anything about their mental health issues at the ripe age of 13 ~ cuz it might be the parent's fault they're MH to begin with. When said kid acts out; however, it is the parent's fault... WTH? Whose brilliant idea was it that kids can decide what the parent gets to know after a certain age even if the parents are legally liable? I love these black/white laws that leave no space for grey areas ~ NOT.

Meh, the whole system needs to be revamped...but the problem is in schools, it's administrators making the decisions, usually w/out input from the people who are with these kids on a daily basis....that's what frustrates the hell outta me....

The schools, the courts, the lawmakers... several issues out there. What's sad is that these kids are the ones who really pay for it in the long run. And yes, it tends to be the ones who spend the least amount of time with them that insist they're the best able to make the decisions.
I think we've scared Icy away with this topic ~ ninja *Fixes up a fresh batch of SCSAW's to tempt her back.*

No longer works in the direct vicinity of the little darlings... and couldn't tell stories anyways ~ Confidentiality laws and whatnot. sweatdrop Can't say what does work with any given kid, but sure understand a few things that don't work with any kid. 3nodding
