Does any one remember the off shoot of the transformers called the rock lords, the shape changing rocks. I remember as a kid having their plane that changed into a tall mountain, and a robot that changed into a ruby.
It has been a while, but I used to like the Rock Lords. - Dark Quazar -

Oh my god, I never relised just how many cartoons I used to watch. Lets see I watched: xmen, spider man, I think I also watched a fantastic four cartoon, smurfs, rainbow brite, carebears (there was a movie called the care bears adventure in wonderland and it was my fav, people don't believe me when I tell them about it), jem, gummi bears, ducktales, gargoyles, my little pony, ren and stimpy, tiny toons, aladdin, little mermaid, talespin, pirates of darkwater (this show is still awsome), lady lovely locks, mario and zelda, chip and dale (I still know the themesong, my friend and I got really drunk and sang it once) and of course even though it's technically anime and the dub sucked sailor moon (my all time fav, I still have a poster on my wall, she was my idol when I was like 12)

Wait just a minute. Some of the current cartoons are HILARIOUS and clever. Some have some really cool animation effects, creativity and original concepts. Here are just a few: Spongebob Squarepants, Invader Zim, Dexters Labratory, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Fiarly Odd Parents, Chowder, Total Drama Island, ChalkZone, Jimmy Neutron, and others. I have an appreciation for animation because I know what kind of work goes into making something like this happen.

My favorite old-school cartoon was "Devilman" by Go Nagai.
It's the usual cliche Demons in human world type anime, but at the same time, its true offering to the table was in regards to the explanation of human nature especially pertaining to fear.
However, to defend today's anime/manga, I must say that there have been some great releases:
Akumetsu - a Sci-Fi crime thriller where a vigilante kills corrupt politicians in Japan (kicker is he uses actual legal terminology and situations as well as actual real-life corrupt politicians with just the names changed).
Zetman - Yes, another "--man" manga, but this one is definitely more themed for adults. very limited on sexual themes, it is more down-to-earth despite the demon-slaying involved.
There's a great deal more, but as of this moment, these two are the 'newest' releases/offerings to anime aficionados.
