Okay, I am tired of this. Why do people keep knocking on my door, then refuse to leave me be? Look, if you want to know why I leave my keys in the lock where anyone could take them, just use them to unlock the door and come in and ask.

I hate standing in the doorway...

P.S. I happen to love frogs, so no that would not help.

We could always invite frogs, but I'd think salamaders would work out better.

I leave the keys to my apartment in the door so I remember where they are. Any time I leave the apartment I lock the door behind me and take the keys with me. I do not see what the issue is.

I am still waiting for someone to just walk into my apartment. Anyone who would is someone I want around.

I like to imagine this will start with a hairy fellow walking in and asking if you've got any ginger ale, and lead to all the local hippies being in your apartment on any given day.

Hippies around here? This is Oklahoma. We do not have anything, not even hippies.

I would guess that they don't want someone else to wander off with your keys in their possession and thus prevent you from locking up behind you. Most times when keys are in a door it is due to forgetfulness after all.

I would think that, except they wind up staying at my door for twenty minutes (on average). The conversation should not take more than five minutes, and it would only take that long if flirting was involved.

I have nothing of value in my apartment, so people are welcome to have my keys anyways. I would just leave the door open, but there are too many dogs and cats in this area, and I would hate to gain a pet.

Your apartment should be good enough for them if they're between boxes.

Even our hobos are not really hobos here. As I said, Oklahoma does not have anything.
