My mission: My heart or my job?

"Are you sure?" Chris asked, tickling her sides a little bit.
She squeaked squirming.
"Knock it off Chris." She demanded, fighting another giggle.
"And if I don't?" He asked bending close to her ear.
"I'll s.i.n.g again." She replied.
Just like magic, he pulled his hands back and raised them up in defense.
"Okay, okay!" He said with a laugh "No need to be so hasty!"
She rolled her eyes and laughed a little before heading to the kitchenette.
"Anyone else thirsty?" She called.

"I am, but I'll get it myself," he called back to her before heading into the kitchen to grab himself a glass of water. He had it down within two gulps before washing it out once more. He reached over and poked her side nonchantly before exiting the room to go hide back in the fort they made.

She glared at his retreating figure. She had managed not to squeak when he had poked her side, but she had pulled back. What was everyone's sudden interest in tickling her? She sighed getting herself some water.
"Can I have some too?" Chris asked walking in.
She nodded taking a gulp. She reached to get another class, but he stopped her hand pulling her face close.
"I don't need a glass." He whispered.
She picked up hers and threw the water in his face. She swallowed and laughed a little.
"Looks like you need a towel though."
"Aw Rena!" He whined. "That's no fun!"
She laughed and threw him a towel and got him a glass of water. He grumbled a little and returned to the fort with his water and towel. She leaned against the wall, sipping her water and watching them.
"So what exactly are you two doing?"

"Oh you know," Haru replied simply from the depht of the fort. "Guy stuff."

"If it's anything like gossip and other girly type talk, then you can go ahead and clean up this mess. We do still have to get back to headquarters. Seriously, how can children be so messy?" She said with a half smile.

"No ma'em it is nothing like that," he said, nonchantly. "And children are always this messy. Well, most of them anyways." He chuckled.

She shook her head.
"Still, we do need to report in to the director eventually...and I mean in person, not a phone call. Now am I gonna have to treat you like children or are you going to pick this mess up yourselves?"
"Come on, Ren. It's called fun. You remember what that word means right?"
"Ha ha, Chris. I mean it."

Haru let out a long sigh before exiting their fort. Then he pushed on the blankets making them topple on top of Chris. "Take that Chris!" he yelled before he went around and picked up pillows.

"Hey!" Chris whined. "Ren, Haru's being mean!"
She sighed and shook her head. She walked over and helped untangle Chris from the blanket.
"Alright now Chris, come on. You need to act like a big boy now." She said using her babysitter tone.
She sounded like she should work with children, that she was used to things like that. She tone was softer and warmer making him even feel like a child.
"Do I have to?" He asked looking at her with puppy dog eyes.
She smiled and laughed slightly.
"Now Chris, you know those eyes don't work on me. Come on. You have to act like a big kid sometimes."

Haru just chuckled at the two as he continued cleaning up.

He pouted a moment, but she eventually got him up and helped with the cleaning.
"Well, at least it looks nicer now." She said when it was done.
She put her hands at the base of her neck rubbing them slightly as she often did. It wasn't much, but it helped relieve some of the tension and stress.

Haru stood by the door now, waiting for the other two.
"You guys ready to head back to Headquarters?" he asked. He really wasn't looking forward to going back. All he had to look forward to was muffins, which were delicious for not being homemade.

"Hai." Rena replied. "Come on Chris."
He lazily draped his arm around her shoulders and ignored her death glare.
"I'm ready!" He said.
She rolled her eyes at him and headed for the door. He matched her pace easily.

He lazily draped his arm around her shoulders and ignored her death glare.
"I'm ready!" He said.
She rolled her eyes at him and headed for the door. He matched her pace easily.

Haru nodded to them before gracefully doing a 180 degree turn to leave. Soon there after they met their escort and zoomed off back to headquarters leaving Haru feeling a bit off. The only thing to look forward to going back to that place was muffins and the cute muffin girl, who entertained him oh so much.

She had to keep beating Chris' hand back on the ride back. Once they arrived, she turned to Haru.
"I'm going to see the director." She said. "Do you want to come? It's up to you."
