P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter raised one finely shaped eyebrow questioningly, amused eyes trained on Eduard. "Are you accusing every single other person of hallucinations to, my dear Marquess?" He smiled a slightly lopsided smile, getting into Rosaline's character now. Or maybe it was still him. It was hard to tell when one was in character so often. Peter looked out the carriage window when they arrived, waiting for the footman to open the carriage door. They were in some place that he had never seen, but that didn't surprise him. What did surprise him was the distinct silhouette of Rutherford within the entrance hall. Peter could recognize that from a mile away.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

"Of course. Mass hallucinations." Eduard replied with a slight smirk. After the door to the carriage was opened, he exited, turning and aiding Peter from the steps. "I had hoped not to fool with him tonight." the Marquess spoke, knowing instantly that Peter would realize who he was referring to. "To think someone with no love of the theatre could even get invited to a party such as this. Simply ridiculous." And yet another snub at Eduard.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter smiled slightly at Eduard, murmuring, "Well, there are two amazing actors here, well, at least you are, so we'll show them." His smile turned confident and he put his hand on Eduard's arm like he was supposed to and they started walking into the estate. Peter was on the lookout for whoever was the host, since it definitely didn't seem like Rutherford was the absolute center of attention, even if he was quite popular. Perhaps it was the nasty scar that was still left on his face where Eduard had made contact. Peter couldn't suppress the shiver that passed through him when he remembered seeing Eduard punch Rutherford.((I'll totally reply to the PM when I have time! I just don't at the moment... Sorry...)) The Marquess walked with confidence, Rosaline at his side, his arm in his grasp and one hand over the one she had placed on his arm. "Lord Rutherford." Eduard spoke to the man before entering the estate. Rutherford glared daggers at them, but bowed his head ever so slightly, "Marquess Michaels. Lady Rosaline." Once they were inside, Eduard glanced down at Peter. "This party is being thrown by the nobility in honor of the theatre, so you may see some familiar faces from other theatre troups of London. Unfortunately, after my little outburst the other day, my theatre has fallen out of favor. They couldn't resend an invitation to a Marquess however," he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "This appearance is to make sure that my hit to Rutherford the other day, isn't forcing me to commit social suicide, to be honest." In other words, if Eduard had not attended, his status in the social circles of London would have fallen considerably.
(((Hehehe, that's fine. Don't worry about it.)))

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter nodded, showing his understanding. He would then have to act a lot more worthy of Eduard and becomingly, not that he wasn't doing so before; now he just had to accentuate it and make Eduard look better than he ever did. Rosaline was like eye candy tonight. Peter gave Eduard a slight questioning look and murmured very softly, "Is there anything specific that I should be doing?" He added, "Besides looking gorgeous, of course." He laughed equally softly. His words were only loud enough for Eduard to hear.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Peter's response made Eduard laugh softly and he turned his head down to look at him for a moment. "Be Rosaline with everything you have tonight, my dear." the Marquess whispered, his words careful to keep from betraying any secret. Gently he pressed a soft kiss to Rosaline's forehead before winking. "Don't worry... and enjoy yourself."

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter nodded and smiled fleetingly before looking around, trying to tone down his actions as to not betray his excitement about his second ever social gathering in the aristocratic world. It was in a larger area than Rutherford's ball had been in. There were many more people in attendance, and the atmosphere was just slightly different. It was still 'sophisticated,' but maybe with a slightly different, more comfortable twist to it. It just felt like there were a little less formalities—though not greatly noticeable—since everyone was of the same general interest. For now, all people were doing was mingling and chatting idly among themselves. But as Eduard walked past, heads turned once again. Peter suppressed a shiver of de ja vú, remembering Rutherford's party all too well.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

The Marquess felt the atmosphere change as he passed, but it soon returned to idle gossip and chatter not long after he and Rosaline went on their way. When they reached a group of aristocrats that Eduard knew by name, he stopped. They were Lords, like Rutherford, only one of them he knew was perhaps the kindest man he had ever met. "Lord Beale." Eduard spoke, nodding his head in a slight bow, something that displayed how much respect the Marquess had for him. The man, an elderly fellow with greying hair, smiled pleasantly and inclined his head as well. Eduard had long ago told him not to bow... the man had a bad back, after all. "Marquess Michaels, a please to see you here... though I fear some may say otherwise." Eduard smiled softly, "Yes well... I have my own story to go with the gossip they have likely heard. Have you met the Lady Rosaline?" he asked, presenting the woman at his side. "My Lady, may I introduce Lord Beale, a very good and trusted friend." his dark gaze fell on the man, "Lord Beale, the Lady Rosaline." Beale inclined his head in a slight bow once more before taking one of Rosaline's hands in his own. "A please to meet an acquaintance of Marquess Michaels, my Lady."

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter was observing the elderly man with great interest, though not showing it. It was evident that they were making their way to him, and Peter tried to figure out whether or not this was yet another 'Rutherford.' But Peter was relieved to find out that this Lord was on Eduard's side, and that this was a friend of Eduard's. Peter was all too happy to be introduced, and when he was, he spoke with utmost grace. "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Lord Beale," Peter replied fluidly, adding in a very warm smile at the end that even further emphasized Rosaline's beauty. He didn't even know that he was doing it.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Beale smiled, "And here I thought your companions could never get lovelier." he spoke, to which Eduard smiled as well. The man's attention was soon directed back at the Marquess, something Eduard was glad for. The less uncomfortable Peter had to feel, the better. "So, what is this nasty rumor about you actually engaging in fisticuffs with Lord Rutherford?" the old man asked, obviously skeptical to the rumor. Eduard's smile remained, "Does a man not have the right to defend his lady's honour?" he asked seriously. "Rutherford insulted the Lady Rosaline's integrity. He came to my manor, unannounced, while I was in bed ill. Of course I tried to show him some common courtesy by speaking with him, but apparently that was not enough. After he issued insult, I was a bit too overcome by fever and the need to avenge those words... and so I simply punched him in the face." Beale's eyes widened, but instead of the normal 'noble' response of revulsion, the man laughed. "Rutherford deserved it then." Lord Beale replied, and the men who were in attendance around him couldn't help but agree. "Leave this matter to me, Marquess Michaels. I'll be sure Rutherford stops spreading any rumors in his favor about this situation." Smiling, Eduard inclined his head in a slight bow, "I would be most grateful." "Besides," Beale added, smiling to Rosaline. "A Lady's honour should never be questioned by a man such as Rutherford."

P e t e r - W i n t e r s'Rosaline' blushed, and nodded slightly to show shy agreement. But Peter was more taken by Eduard's explanation of it all. He remembered how terrified he had been when he had first seen Eduard punch Rutherford, and how he wouldn't be calmed by most of Eduard's explanations for a long time. Peter wanted to laugh at himself for ever thinking that such a gentleman as Eduard could ever be terrifying. He gave Eduard a tender glance, full of appreciation and love, which was partly in character, but also partly Peter's real emotions. He definitely respected Eduard quite a bit, and felt that their relationship, though a very odd one, was changing ever so slowly.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

"Perhaps I should let the two of you dance, hmm?" Beale asked, having noticed how Rosaline's gaze had fallen on the Marquess. He wasn't surprised when Eduard returned the woman's gaze with a gentle one of his own. "Unless the lady would favor me with a dance instead?" the man asked when no response was forthcoming. Eduard's violet gaze focused on Rosaline, "Lord Beale is a rather good dancer for his age." the Marquess teased. Of course Beale laughed, "I could certainly show you a thing or two." he joked back before extending his hand to Rosaline. During their conversation, Eduard had noticed Rutherford once again. Truth be told, he would rather get their evening confrontation, which was certain to happen eventually, out of the way with Peter not being present. A dance was a perfect distraction. 'Besides... Peter shouldn't have to deal with someone as filthy as Rutherford.' he thought to himself.
(((Yes, I'm also doing this cause it splits them up. Hint hint. Oh and in the PM I asked a question that I still need the answer too (I think) regarding what sort of person I'm going to play to Rosaline and vice versa for you to Eduard.)))

P e t e r - W i n t e r sRosaline accepted Lord Beale's hand and flashed a quick smile at Eduard before turning back to Lord Beale. "I would be delighted to dance." He smiled and allowed himself to be led off onto the dance floor since it was right at the start of the next dance.((I replied! Eduard smiled as he watched Rosaline move to the dance floor. He was glad that Peter could enjoy himself here, and noticed how much more at ease he was than before. One of the men in Beale's circle offered him a drink, and since he knew the men, he accepted. They wouldn't be stupid enough to try drugging his drink. Not like that buffoon, Rutherford.
Meanwhile, Beale smiled to Rosaline as they danced, "You are quite the accomplished dancer, mi'lady." he commented politely.
(((That is quite true, hehehe. And I hath replied.)))

P e t e r - W i n t e r sRosaline blushed and replied, "Thank you. It's only because of Marquess Michaels." Peter figured that that wasn't quite the best way to take a compliment, but he never was really used to getting them, so he continued, "And the Marquess's words are true; you are a very accomplished dancer yourself."

Lady Ruben glanced around the room and found her target. She hoped that he would be here today. And he was single for that matter. She approached Eduard with a sweet smile, hiding anything mischievous, and said, "Ah, Marquess Michaels! I have heard so much about you."((Sounds good!
