dame sighs and looks at Daniel with sad, tired eyes, "Daniel, I came here to get help. I checked myself in, of my own free will. I want to get help. I haven't even been in here a whole day, a whole twenty-four hours. I haven't started treatment yet or had my first session with my doctor. I yearn for the kind of assistance they can give me for my problems." She drops her eyes at the grass, "Last night might not have gone great for me, but it certainly wasn't because of this place. It's because I have things in my life I cannot get a grip on anymore and I need help doing so. I'm...I'm hoping I'll find this place somewhat peaceful, serene enough that it will keep my demons at bay while I work at eradicating them."
The young woman crosses her arms over her middle, "I don't know why you are here or if you are here of your own free will or not and I am sorry you aren't happy. But I cannot go on your adventures outside these walls just yet. Though," she looks up and smiles at him, "I will promise you fun adventures for when we are both free beings again. I know the best of places. xd "

Daniel stuck his hands in his pockets, and shuffled his feet in the grass. His face bacme petulant, as did his voice.
"Oh, all right. But the longer I'm here, the more interesting it's going to have to get. Standing around, wandering between the shrubs, the tree, and the bench will only work for so long. There's so much to learn out there. And if I can't get to it, then I guess I'll have to bring it to me."
He seemed to cheer up slightly at that thought, as if he had said it without really thinking of it. His eyes twinkled slightly as the grin returned a little.
"Yes. Ah, oh, heh-heh yes. That could be a start."

dame grins again and is about to respond when the nurses start rounding people in, her eyes light up, "Oooooh!!! Breakfast time! Yay!!! 4laugh " She looks like a little girl who was told she's going to Disneyland. She bounces on the balls of her feet and motions to Daniel, walk towards the building, "Yaaay breakfast!!"
After breakfast, dame will have her first session with her doctor and be given her prognosis. He tells her the main issue they are going to work on right now is her PTSD and the way they are going to do that is to start her on some medicine to address other issues and work through her memories to work past the events that caused or started her PTSD. He says she also has a mild anxiety disorder that is amplified by the PTSD and some depression problems because of the anxiety and PTSD. Medicine and sessions will help her start working through these problems. They have to find what works for her, individually, and slowly bring her back to her normal self - controlling and understanding her emotions, rationalising through said emotions and feelings and getting a grip back on her life. dame mulls this information over for a while, writing in her journal, finishing her entry from last night, and to help organize her thoughts. By the time she is done, she feels better than she has in a while, starting to see a shimmer of hope.

At Dame’s exclamations for breakfast, Daniel can’t help but smile broadly. The winkle in his eyes returns, and he seems to forget what he had been talking about mere minutes earlier.
“Oh, yes, well breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Or night, I would suppose, if you’re not waking up until after the sun goes away. But they had better have some sort of pudding confection in there, that’s all I know.”
Daniel starts to head after Dame towards the buildings, but pauses for a moment. Turning he looks out across the fields and trees, scanning along the horizon, his eyes narrowing. The feeling had been brief, but it had been there all the same. The unshakable feeling of being observed from afar. His face became contemplative for a moment, but then at a call from Dame, he turns back heading to catch up.
“Yes, yes I’m coming.”
<<<>>>
Later that afternoon as promised by the Director, Daniel found himself in a small room devoid of any sort of decoration, save for an overly sized mirror set into the wall which he eyed suspiciously. He sat across a small table from middle aged woman wearing a lab coat over her plain black dress. On the table were an assortment of items, from a stack of papers, a pile of multicolored blocks on a tray, and a small camcorder on a tripod facing him. The woman finally looked up from the notepad that she had been writing on and flashed Daniel a tight but professional smile.
“So, Mister Doe, this will be your initial evaluation. We’re just going to be getting a feel for how you handle different things to assess your current state of mind.”
“You mean you want to see how nutty I may or may not be.”
The woman smile slightly but continued.
“Not exactly. Think of this as more of an acuity assessment. Since we have no records or prior information for you, we just need to start getting an idea on how your brain processes different stimulus. And to start I see you have requested to be addressed as Daniel. Is that correct?”
“Yes.”
“But you say that this isn’t your real name.”
“Nope.”
“Any reason you think you chose Daniel?”
Daniel paused before answering, trying to recall if there had been any reason. Beyond the one he knew, he couldn’t think of any other reason. He was reluctant to answer, be he knew hiding it would only make them dig harder.
“I think I choose it because it was one she would be comfortable with.”
The woman cocked an eyebrow at his answer.
“I see. And who might she refer to?”
“It refers to she who is not relevant to this particular evaluation, I believe.”
The woman didn’t reply, but instead scribbled at her notepad some more before placing it in portfolio she had in her lap. Then she nudged the tray of blocks so that it was in front of Daniel.
“Very well then Daniel, let’s get started. We’ll do a little physical stimulus first. These series of blocks all combine to make a larger cube. I want you to assemble them as best you can, as quickly as you can. Do you understand the instructions?”
Daniel nodded, “I believe so, yes.”
“Then begin.”
The woman looked down to pull her notepad back out, and we she glanced back up Daniel was smiling innocently at her, a small multi-colored cube in front of him. The woman raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“How’d you do that?”
“Do what?”
The woman stared at him. Her look was one of judging and weighing.
“Very well, let’s move on to some perception analysis.”
The woman picked up her stack of cards and tapped them straight.
“I’m going to show you an image, and I want you to just say the first thing that you see.”
“Okie-dokie.”
The woman turned over a card revealing a symmetrical ink blot of seemingly random size and shape.
“It’s an ink blot.”
“Yes, but what images do you see?”
“I see an ink blot.”
The woman set the card aside. “Very well. And this one?”
“Ink blot.”
The woman looked a little frustrated already, and proceeded to go through the cards much more rapidly than Daniel suspected she was supposed to. He tried to hold his grin as best he could.
“Ink blot. Ink blot. Multi-colored inkblot. Ink blot. Crab Nebula. Ink blot.”
The woman actually slapped the cards down on the table and glared at Daniel.
“You’re doing that on purpose.”
“Define ‘on purpose’.”
The woman just rubbed the bridge of her nose and then made some notes on her notepad.
“It’s going to be a long session.”
“Really? Is that bad?”

First day of October, dame breathes deep, oh man, smell the premise of chill. It’s amazing. She takes a few more deep breaths – inhaling, exhaling and sinks to the ground, back against the three. The young woman smiles and leans her head back, closing her eyes and enjoying the slight chill of the breeze. Fall has always made her happy, the expected change, the cooling of temperature and shortening of days, the crisp, clean, cool air, the crunching of leaves. It calms her. Pests going into hiding, weather starting to chill and freeze their bones. It’s fantastic. The colours of the trees, the forces of nature never fail to amaze her. Along with the season change and the response of medicine and sessions her insides are beginning to settle.
dame opens her eyes and looks around at the sun filtering down through the leaves on the tree. The leaves on this tree had yet to change colour. It had just now started to get cooler. She reaches over and pats a root, speaking dreamily, “Soon though, soon.”
She lets her thoughts drift, all things fall swirling around. Very soon, she finds herself thinking about MW and Flame. For awhile they were thoughts of fall activities, of strolling through the leaves, walking around town it all decked out for autumn, MW’s famous theme parties and how Kat will probably go all out for Halloween. A smile forms on her face before reality finally hits her…she might not…probably won’t be out of here before the end of fall…Maybe, if she’s lucky, Thanksgiving… eek she has NEVER spent a Thanksgiving away from her family…not once. And…they don’t even know she’s in here! gonk How will she…what will she…dame starts to hyperventilate, drawing her knees up close to her chest and rocking, breaths becoming more and more shallow, pupils retracting. After a moment, she remembers her sessions and what they doctor told her. She starts to get a grip on herself, slowly uncurling and talking herself back. Slowly, ever so slowly, she pushes her anxiety to the recesses of her mind and finds her calming spot, focusing again on the wind in the trees and the feel of fall.
A little while passes and she is calm once more, zoning slightly, or appearing to, always watching, observing, training hard to forget. She hears the birds in their nest, the rustling of the leaves, small wisps of hair billowing across her face, a chipmunk or squirrel of some type, chittering quietly, little nails and teeth chipping and scratching away at a nut. She tries to focus on it all at once, as a single and as a whole. dame’s face is passive and she keeps an auditory check on where the nurses and orderlies are as well as the other patients. She takes note each time the door to the front closes and opens, or when the orderlies’ voices drop to a whisper.
It’s hard to believe she’s already been here a week. A week away from what she knows and misses. She wonders briefly how the others are doing but quickly closes these thoughts off again so she doesn’t become sad. dame, despite missing people, is already starting to feel better about her situation. She truly believes this place can help her deal with her issues. She also knows (hopes) that having a positive attitude about it will help her recover faster – that and working as hard as she can, being receptive and participatory. At least she certainly hopes so.
dame once again leans her head back and closes her eyes, stretching her legs out in front of her and folding her hands in her lap. The wind gently blows.
