"Thank you, that's a very good price." Hugo paid the clerk, then followed his sister.
Paige looked around at various vendors who sold watches and jewelry, but it took her a while to spot one that stood out from the rest. "Hey, it looks like this stall has enchanted items, including a couple watches. Do you have pocket watches with special magical effects?" She asked the young man, who looked like a foreigner.
"Hello. All my items are enchanted, so those three pocket watches each have a different effect," said the young merchant. "The first one glows orange and sets off a loud alarm when you press a button, the second one glows blue and projects holographic snowflakes into the air with the twist of a dial, and the third one glows a soft yellow and plays a short lullaby every hour."
"Well, I don't think the first one is what I'm looking for. The other two sound nice. Anselm, Tauriel, which one would you choose?"
Hugo watched his sister browse through the stalls from a distance until she found one she liked. "Huh, that guy reminds me of someone, but I can't remember who..."
OOC: so, this particular merchant is also a mage/sorcerer/wizard, and one of my characters, it will be revealed next time (dun dun dun...)

"So, have you decided yet? If not, take your time."
"Yes, that makes sense, Anselm. Personally I think the snowflakes one would go well with Elsa's theme, but I don't know, apparently she decided to give up the ice magic. I heard her groom has a sunny personality and perhaps the golden yellow musical one would suit him, and their future children might like it." Paige selected the third watch, since she thought it would compliment the couple well, and agreed with Anselm. "All right, I'll buy this one," she said to the merchant.
Hugo looked at the merchant a bit longer. "You know what, I just figured it out. He looks like some undersea merchant mage guy, except that guy had purple skin and octopus appendages."
OOC: The pocket watches would probably look like classic vintage British pocket watches with chains, with etched designs that reflect the special effects; most likely gold (and white gold with snow crystal etching for the one that glows blue.) The lullaby tune would sound something like a music box tune, but it could be something similar to the tune in that video without the background percussion. As for the merchant, who is definitely my shapeshifter OC, he is wearing shoes by the way. They'd be black with silver like the spear which he is not currently holding. And he's not staying in the roleplay for now, but he'll likely reappear later. (his name isn't shown because the characters don't know who he is)

"The swirly patterns and stars on this are perfect, I agree." Paige bought the watch, which cost 50 gold- more than the furniture, but a very good deal for an enchanted jewelry item.
Hugo spoke to the merchant after his sister paid. "By the way, what is your name, sir? I could've sworn I saw you before."
"My name is Folami. I don't particularly remember seeing you... but you also look familiar. Were you a merman who transformed? I remember a red-headed merman asking me about my enchanted trinkets."
"It could have been me, my name is Hugo. Anselm, Tauriel, I think I was right- I HAVE seen him before, but he managed to turn his skin brown and he has legs now too."
"Right, I remember- you and your sister Paige talked to me once before, wasn't she the one who wanted to interrogate me because she thought I was going to mug you?"
"Hey, I've had strangers try to mug me before! Not that they ever got past my spear. But don't worry, I know you're a trustworthy guy now. Anyway, Hugo is right- well, nice talking to you again, but we're quite busy, we have a wedding to attend. I hope you have a nice day, Folami. All right Anselm, Tauriel. This shopping trip has been quite productive!" She waved and left; the young merchant waved back.

"Oh, hello Kaiden. I'm Paige and today I received a wedding invitation for Grant and Elsa, it would be wonderful to watch the crowning ceremony." Paige half-curtseyed, half-bowed to the young man in greeting.
Hugo also made a half-bow. "Greetings, I am Hugo, Paige's twin brother."
OOC: if someone else is bowing, they would typically do the same, although bowing underwater would be different and perhaps they would have a different salute; in their case, they're just going with default human curtseys/bows
