Most of the beautification work Tsarzi had done was outdoors based. It seemed that with the oncoming completion of the Settlement though, they were looking to spruce up interiors. Helping to carry a roll of carpet, it looked like she'd be helping lay out some new flooring tonight.

Tsarzi didn't have as much experience with the paving machines as she did the rollers. Same basic mechanical knowledge applied but the application was different. When one of the machines had a jam though and the other trained trolls were busy, Tsarzi came to assist with another troll with cursory knowledge to see if they could puzzle it out without breaking it.

Of course, following carpeting was painting over or removing wallpaper, which was not a job for the impatient. The slow going results were not Tsarzi's preference, but she saw what happened when another troll tore off a piece of the wall decor, leaving a huge amount of glue and shreds behind. Rushing this wouldn't do anyone any good.

Work was fairly well finished near the main Settlement and they were beginning clean up. While paving was continuing down the way, they were picking up markers around the settlement and starting to lay down more grass seen and clean up. Tsarzi herself stick to picking up the marker flags and clearing equipment out.

Pavement was down, construction markers were removed, all that was left was cleaning up equipment marks on the ground and making it look nice. Some had worked on that while construction was going on, that greenblood Sephos had been doing that if she recalled. Tsarzi preferred to stick to the required tasks to get the road functional, but now it was down the the aesthetic fixes and presentation. Not something that held her interest, but she was coming to acknowledge the importance it can play.

Just the last two roads to go and things were nearly there. Tsarzi was helping to operate the mark laying machine, putting down lines and road marks on the newly laid black top.

Mihail had found the place by chance, having seen some of the construction on the coastal road by chance on one of his free nights. The next free night he got, he wandered back to the settlement intending to find out more about it- and ended up lending a hand with the very coastal road that had lead him there in the first place.

He knew nothing about road construction though and wasn't much help... but it was enough to pique his interest. He'd mention this place to Knetic and maybe come back later to lend a hand.

Tsarzi shifted gears and steered the paving machine down the road, an older volunteer in charge of some of the construction coordination sitting next to her giving directions. After this well intentioned idiot nearly drove the paver out of the road bed, Tsarzi offered to steer while they directed.

After precisely and carefully, as much as you can be in machines like this, paving down the road, Tsarzi disengaged the asphalt dispenser. Near the end of the road, she rode it off the pavement and onto the grass to bring it back around to the settlement. At least they finished up before the coordinator next to her started dozing off.

Tsarzi helped transport some of the decorations other trolls were planning to put around the road, and took a moment to join with the rest of the clean up crew collecting leftover trash and smoothing over upturned earth. That would about do it, once this was done.

The Settlement Is Complete!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The settlement has been officially completed! These intrepid trolls have created a jewel on Alternia. Self-sustaining and aesthetically unique, it sits in the plains of New Hemisect like a miniature city. In fact, it has attracted many residents - primarily lowbloods - seeking a better home. Prejudice and violence is at a low in the settlement, but Panili refuses to call it a utopia. While the settlement's construction is complete, trolls are still a work in progress!

There are many locations of note within the Lightseekers Settlement. The crown-jewel of it all is the town hall and community center, along with the square.

Sparkling like a gem, it boasts glass planes set to convert Alternia’s harsh sunlight into energy. The light that filters into the town-hall reflects like a cool, slow-moving tide. It mirrors Panili's geometric, practical home but with an artistic style that is further enhanced by the aesthetics of Pre-Reginian technology. This bit of culture from the space crew is unusual and dated, but gives a bit of rustic flair to the space. It's a large space with huge tables and plenty of room for town meetings. The square itself is also large, and has a grassy area to host green shows and general mingling between community members. Many murals can be found around the community area, featuring scenes such as a wolf eating a multi-colored moon and one simply signed "Thank you CM". There are a few prominent statues in the community square area, one being of Tsarzi Ameroc's lusus erected near a plaque thanking her for her extraordinary contributions.

The research lab is a place where data is collected from any of the processes around the settlement. Whether it be agricultural or based upon Alternia's planetary and atmospheric information, this lab is of utmost importance. It is also well secured, given that chemicals and important data are stored here. Shenso and Loulah generally spend their time in here, poring over data and robotics. If you need them, you're likely to find them in the lab.

Storage and Equipment blocks are found throughout the city, ranging from large sheds to warehouse sized buildings for farming, robotics and other equipment needed for nightly life.

Hive Blocks are also available! Able to sustain scores of trolls each, these blocks have become very popular. They are primarily connected and support community living with dorm recreational areas and shared respiteblocks. However, there are a few smaller attached hives that give more privacy - and even a few single hives. Panili herself and the space crew live in single-occupant hives near the community center.

A separate Lusus Quarters has been built, accommodating lusii from huge to practically microscopic. It leads into an enormous meadow, sectioned off into an underground cave-like section and an open section for grazing. The lusus quarters is also attached to something like a smaller biome for creatures with a need for more specific living space.

The Greenhouse is a huge, beautiful glass enclosure with regulated temperature and lighting scenarios for any climate. It's sectioned off into two vast eco-buildings, with two niche buildings for unique plants in between. The design is a mix of architectural and organic, and the overall smell and atmosphere is dreamlike - very fresh. It's a well needed breath of fresh air after a hard night's work! Exotic plants from all parts of Alternia can be housed here, as well as important crop for sustainable living.

The Lightseekers' produce intake has improved dramatically, with more consistency and reliability in growing crops sweep-round! In addition, sun-shades will allow for greater growth during the harsh daylight hours, and may encourage production of exciting and unique new buds and species. Crops for food as well as medicinal purposes can now be harvested! If your troll has an ailment, a question about any kind of flora or needs a specific plant to spice up their life, they're likely to find it here.

Barns, fields, compost and a pond allow for livestock to be raised and roam as well. Animal husbandry is a wide-sweeping job!

Finally, the Lightseekers have created a disaster shelter with the help of their intrepid volunteers. The shelter can hold all of the residents of the settlement for a few perigees, and is natural-disaster-proof. It was created in response to the alarming weather incidents, and has storage attached to it as well for other emergencies.

Roads connect the settlement to a nearby lake, and also head towards New Hemisect City proper and the coast. Finally, the settlement is easy to get to!

Tsarzi

Your egg has hatched! You have a new little friend. This fluffy specimen is a standard, high-quantity egg-laying chimeric cluck beast. Its feathers give off a mild numbing sensation when touched.

Your plant has grown! This small bush is a new species, looking to be spliced from typical Alternian flora. Its berries can cure specific types of poisons, but they are very bitter and not very easy to eat.

Thanks to your hard work in building repair, you have been offered a permanent hive on the map. It can be whatever you want it to be, set up wherever in the Settlement, and have as many amenities as you want (within reason, of course). You’ve earned it!

Word traveled fast on Alternia. Post-rescue from Awassi’s ill-fated mansion, Tigwyn was taken in by the government for basic medical care and observation. His stint was short. Still hazy, he was returned to a waiting Piccal and Panili in a cramped scuttlebuggy. To be returned home.

Panili sent out a message to the Lightseekers:

“Everyone! I have incredible news. Tigwyn Ioyana has been found alive, thanks to efforts by the military trolls investigating Erilyn Awassi’s hive. He will be returning to us soon, so please prepare. He is still experiencing health issues, including a wound to his skull that has caused the loss of his eye, as well as memory troubles. Please be gentle with him. This is an all-hands-on-deck call, for us to make him as comfortable as possible and welcome him home!”

Mere days after the incident, the scuttlebuggy rolled down the New Hemisect road and into the settlement.

A handful of inhabitants crowded around, with trolls less affiliated with the space crew milling about. Some decided to mind their own business, not wanting to cause a fuss, while other more curious trolls peeked out of their hives and up from their tasks. Malory, Loulah, and Shenso were front and center, awaiting the buggy.

Lightseekers!
He's back! This is now an open roleplay for all Lightseekers affiliated trolls.

Additionally, Panili has put out a plea to help around the settlement during this time. This can include helping Tigwyn (clothing, grooming, socializing, etc), conversing with or helping the space crew (with tasks, settling nerves, etc), or any other task around the settlement with either Panili or the Space Crew. This is a great opportunity to do your part, bond with Panili and the crew, and make a difference. And make Tigwyn less smelly!

To take part in this event, please message me on discord with your idea (if you don't have one, let me know and we'll brainstorm). We will set up a roleplay to complete with your troll and the troll/s you are interacting with. These will be quick RPs with the intent of being vignettes surrounding the event. This mini event will end October 26th.

Sephos Arbola

Sephos arrived with an armful of flowers, as he always did when things felt complicated. They were mild-smelling but pleasant, pale colored, something that wouldn't overwhelm the senses but might ease the pain. He'd grown them in the greenhouse here, and, fresh picked, he hoped that they would do...

Something.

To help.

He didn't know Tigwyn very well, nor really most of the space crew, but he knew one thing: he wanted to help. Somehow. And flowers... they always helped. Nervously, he looked around, trying to find some confirmation of whether he was doing this right. This... helping thing.

The dust settled, and the scuttlebuggy lowered on its stilted legs. A small pair of sandals plopped onto the ground, followed by dusty boots and finally - a pair of bare feet.

Tigwyn squinted as though the sun was in the sky, raising his hand to clear away the dust. He stood for a moment, in a daze, looking as haggard as he had in the mansion.

Shenso clutched his hands over his chest. He made a scratchy sound from in his throat, only unclasping his vicegrip when he needed to wipe his eyes. For a fateful moment, the confused gaze of Tigwyn passed over the crowd and locked eyes with the redblood.

"Pixie...?"

Slow, investigative footsteps turned into a hurried, nearly panicked pace. Tigwyn kicked up dirt and dust in his wake as Shenso let out a sob, the tension in the air collapsing all at once. They folded together in a tight embrace.

The rest of the crew seemed to relax - at least a bit - looking between each other and reacting in their own ways. Loulah shifted uncomfortably at their affection, while Malory rested a fond hand against her cheek.

Piccal, meanwhile, put a hand on Panili's shoulder. "We'll be fine for a bit, Syn." She looked to the greenblood burdened with flowers and gave her a nod.

--

"Hey...! Sephos!" Panili managed. Her melodic voice was quiet, a bit tired but not solemn. "Those flowers are beautiful. Thank you for coming."
