I never played The Sims 2, just Medieval and the original The Sims. For the latter, I had all the expansions except for the Harry Potter ripoff expansion. My favorite expansion was the one that added pets as you could just build and design houses without having sims living in it.

I'm not really sure I'd like just designing houses without designing the family that lives in it. My favorite part of The Sims are the Sims themselves, and seeing all the silly things that they do. That's just me though. In any case, how would you pay the bills? xd Were there no bills in the first game?

In that mode, you're just building and designing a house with nobody living in it. I think they added it because in the original The Sims, it seemed like you were spending most of your time either building up their stats, sending them off to work or thwarting their attempts to burn down the house.

Well, I suppose if they lacked all sense in that game to the point that it was more frustrating than entertaining then I suppose a mode without them would be nice. Plus, it's nice for the people who just want to build houses without all of the extra stuff. ^^

The Sims 2 was a bit better in that regard. I mean, you're still building up their stats and making sure they don't miss work, but at least they usually don't start fires. There's a chance of it if they have a low cooking stat, but I've yet to see that. Oo Same with being electrocuted from repairing things.

I gave them no cooking appliances until everyone's cooking skill was at least high enough that they could prepare food without setting the house on fire. This meant that they were eating salads for all meals.

Yeah, I liked to make my Sims study cooking from a book for a level or two beforehand because I knew of the possibility of a fire at the lower levels. xd Eating salad all the time doesn't sound that bad, even if it's just the lettuce and cucumber kind. Did you have the ability to make sandwiches?

I don't remember seeing them make anything other than salads when they had no cooking appliances, which is a good thing as it meant that dumb sims were not using sharp knives [hopefully] -- just tossing salad dressing on salad mix. It didn't stop them from leaving dirty salad plates all over the house, on the floors and even in the bathroom.

Ah, in the PS2 version of The Sims 2 (where you are given direct control) you had a whole menu of food items to choose from. You could even pick the specific ingredients, which could give your sims a temporary boost in something. The one I recall the best was one that temporarily made your Sim's skill levels about 2 levels higher than it actually was, or something along those lines.

As for dirty plates thing...yeah, Sims who aren't neat will often leave those dirty plates around for neat Sims to groan at before cleaning up. >_> Usually on the table, but if the table is covered in plates they'll eat elsewhere.

When they start washing dirty plates in the bathroom sink and leave dirty plates all over the house while leaving water puddles about is when I start drowning them in the swimming pool.

This is why I like having a couple Sims with a maxed out Neat trait in every household. They love to clean. They will have fun while cleaning up messes. You just have to direct them towards the messes to begin with. 3nodding They won't be leaving dirty plates around either from what I recall.

Better yet, just make all the sims in the household neat.

Then the only messes you'll have to direct them to clean up are the ones that result from a broken shower, sink, or toilet! ^^ Which happen way too often for my liking. Sim appliances are way less reliable than their real life counterparts.

To be honest, I don't remember stuff breaking in the original The Sims.
Maybe it was a The Sims 2 thing or I just don't remember it because I was too busy drowning them in the swimming pool like bugs.

Was there a stat dedicated to repairing items? If not then it was probably just something introduced in The Sims 2. I don't let my Sims repair the TV until they're, like, level 7 of 10. Otherwise they might die of electrocution. xd

I don't remember as it's been a while, but I also had a habit of depriving my sims of anything that that they could use to kill themselves, with the swimming pool being the only exception.

Was the AI in that game really that poor? D= I think I've only had one death, and I'm still not quite sure how it happened. My sim was talking to that sim outside, and I went to go design the house for a bit. When I came back that sim had passed away somehow. Maybe NPC sims are allowed to walk into the the streets and he was hit by a car, but I've never seen them go into the streets before.

After having one of them set the house on fire, I came to the conclusion that sims are dumb and just wouldn't give them such things.
