Well, as soon as money isn't as tight for me (people own me $220 and I may need to loan out another $300 soon), I'm going to try to get a squad of Death Korps. Also, I'm going to try to stay to the colour scheme presented in their depiction, but I was wondering before I screwed it up myself, how would I go about painting them like that? ONe major part of that being, what colours are being used in the painting of these models?

Scorched Brown, Desert Yellow, Bleached Bone, Fortress Grey, Shadow Grey, Rotting Flesh, Boltgun Metal.

What of technique though? I'm very much used to only using one layer of paint on my figures, barring the base coat, and only once trying to use drybrushing. Should I put on a medium colour, such as the Shadow Grey or the Rotting Flesh and then where needed add layers of darker or lighter paint?

Drybrushing bad. The FW stuff ooks like it's been built up with layers of glazes. Way to go.

Dunno. Just play about with what you know and what you can do until you get something you like, irrespective of the time it took to get said result. You're paying good money for this, don't balls it up.

No pressure at all. It's painting. You ******** up, you strip. The only pressure in modelling is in physical conversion.

I wouldnt say pressure, but danger. I remember converting my vyper to have the shuriken cannon on the bottom as an upgrade so i could use the turret for something else. In shaving away a chunk of plastic I managed to place my knife through my palm at least an inch deep. Oddly enough it didnt bleed while i just sat their gawking. It didnt hurt either until a day later, then it was a b***h. Fun times, and scars make great conversation starters.

Quoted for Emphasis. Lol at Mykal.

On the subject of Conversions. I haven't done much conversions myself, only with changing bolters to plasmas or flamers.

on the subject of scars. I have a fractured skull, does that count?

Oh I know, chicks love that one. They like a dangerous type willing to shed some blood in the name of miniatures and fun. Then its out to a wild night at the local hobby shop.

Something appears to have gone quite wrong in this thread. Um, anyways, this is how may Leman Russ is coming along, because I'm rather a new at larger models, and I spent half an hour putting on rust. The front Lascannon needs work, as does the rear stripe, but I'm curious about ideas for improvement, and just an overall idea about how I'm making my poor little tank look.

Just so you folks know, I am aiming for a weathered approach, as if my unit had been at the front without a refit for quite sometime; hence, rust. Mud will be added, and I've grayed in some portions of the bolters to represent my tank driving through evil trees. Can't see that too well in the shadow, however. Might keep the stripe as-is, as well.
