Am I the only one who didn't know Jack couldn't die?

And it WAS John Simms playing the regenerated Master right?

Yes and yes.

xd

Dang.
But I don't watch Dr Who every week.

I've only seen the last 4 episodes, and before that the last one I saw was the one that had Rose's exit.

By the way, I love how Doctor Who is I think the only work of fiction that can be sieve-tastic with the plot holes, and have gods (sometimes literally) busting out of machines left right and centre, and not only will I not decry it forever, but I will actually proclaim it to be "made of win" in the immediate aftermath.

I really, really liked this one.

With regards to the whole Gallifrey thing, I think they actually handled it reasonably well. It did remind me a lot of how it looked back in The Invasion of Time, all orangey and a bit quarry-like. They also did quite well with the whole explanation of why The Master wasn't dead and had regenerations again. Because let's face it, it wouldn't be the first time they've contracted him to do their dirty work.

As regards The Master himself, I think that John Simm really was a fantastic choice. In addition to making a very good maniac, he also managed to carry over some of the casual, menacing charm of the old Masters.

And for the record, I reckon his misses is a Toclafane.

Is there anything to tell about the old Masters or Toclafane?
One day I'm going to try and watch all the old ones, as yet I haven't had the time or the money.

Toclafane are new.

There're probably reams of e-paper detailing everything about the Master floating around on the internet. There might be something on this, kind of frightening, amalgamation of all known canon. (Yeah okay, I just wanted to link it).

I feel like the Master could have been a bit less, you know, pantomime-y. But John Simm was a good choice.

But that's just scarey.

I have nightmares about it.

I can't believe it's even colour-coded.

No you don't.
You can only be inspired, run away or go mad. Your choice.

That reminds me.

Time Lords look into the Time Vortex as part of their training, but it's all "Rose, nobody's meant to see that!" when she did it. Plot hole?

All I can think is there's a difference between looking into it, and looking into and absorbing it. To do with the fact that the Tardis "gets inside your head"? Well whatever.

I ran anyway.
