As much as it was mentioned, Olivia had no idea that some of the kernels had been lodged in her hair. She gave Molan a very thankful smile for his efforts. Only for them to be washed away some seconds later when a cascade of popcorn was dumped on Andrew's head and many pieces ended up caught in her trap of curls ... and a few behind her shawl... and against the nape of her neck. o_o

"I'm fine." She said regardless to Molan, Olivia still liked where she sat. And Andrew was holding her hand again; though, it made it difficult to continue opening the box of candy. The ghoul went to picking at the paper with her free hand, only sparing quick glances at the screen before she pretty much ripped it to shreds.

finally getting one of the tiny crystal coated scarling shaped candy out of the box, she popped it into her mouth... and chewed. And on went a very disturbed and disgusted face. The other candy had been so subtle in taste but this one, wow even managed to hit her. Oh how tempting it was just to open her mouth and roll it off her tongue and out. But.. she would.. endure it.

The human world was an interesting place, full of sights and sounds and smells that Taima wished they had time to explore. Even limited to the path Selene had led them on offered an intriguing peek into the petri dish that was humanity, and Taima stared openly at the people that hurried by them, wondering where they were going and what humans even did at this hour. Soon, it was just the class group walking down the street towards the brightly lit theater, and Taima had run out of things to distract her from Nukpana's question. It wasn't a bad one by any means, merely difficult to consider. She shrugged noncommittally, allowing the ambient noise of the city to settle between them as her thoughts turned inward.

Normally, Taima would have jumped at the chance to seek out the unknown--but this was a completely different situation. She had more of an emotional investment in this than just knowledge for knowledge's sake. The ones they had shared the dream with were close to her in ways Taima could only identify abstractly: they existed, they ran deep, but as long as the people on the other end of that bond were unknown to her, they were ultimately harmless. Did she want to know the others? Yes, in an academic sense; she wanted to at least know who they were. But none of them were those people. The potential for emotional injury--to say nothing of outright disappointment--was higher than Taima felt capable of dealing with. Although she couldn't explain why, the memory of the entire experience, disturbing as it had been, was something that she wanted to keep safe and unspoiled.

Still, it would be nice to know. "They'll be different," Taima replied eventually. There was neither censure nor encouragement in her tone; she could just as easily have been talking about the weather. "They won't be the people we remember." Despite her feelings towards the others, she had certainly wanted to distance herself from herself after that farce of a life. "It's just something to keep in mind--now and if we ever do come across any of the others."

When they finally reached the theater, Taima found herself more interested in the human in the box than in the ticket and strange paper currency Selene handed to her. She paused in front of it, her head tilted to the side as if she was watching an animal in the zoo. It only seemed to know the one trick--receive money, make change, produce ticket--so Taima mentally labeled it Homo sapiens inferior and followed the class inside.

It was almost disappointing to see that the inside of the theater looked similar to any of the ones in Halloween, with the obvious exceptions of movies and snacks being advertised. She wandered up to the concessions counter, shaking her head at Nuk's question. "I don't know how I feel about eating exploding food here. These look interesting, though," she said, looking down at the racks with the various candies. The brightly colored boxes were certainly appealing, but gave little hint to what was inside. Taima brightened as she found a likely choice, picking up the box and putting it on the counter.

"Hey, human worker drone," she called to a completely unenthusiastic employee in an ugly uniform that was made worse by the various food stains on it. The ghoul--at least, Taima was pretty sure it was a ghoul, it was hard to tell under that unfortunate shirt--rolled her eyes and took her time getting to the counter, merely raising her eyebrows in expectation. "Is this candy made with real people?" The ghoul gave her a blank stare in return, and Taima huffed a sigh. Clearly, these particular humans were dumber than normal. "It says Mike and Ike on the box. Is this candy made from them, with real Mike and Ike and," she checked the box again, "five fruit flavors?"

The overworked, underpaid, and utterly apathetic movie theater employee rolled her--his? its?--eyes and replied, "Yeah, sure, why not."

"Excellent," Taima said, putting the strange green currency Selene had given all of them on the counter. After taking her change, puzzling as to how a single bill of currency could yield a return of so many more bills and coins besides, she followed the class into the theater, taking a seat in the back row and saving the one next to her for Nukpana. After an awkward moment where she forgot she could actually lean back and not have to worry about pressing against her wings, she settled comfortably into her seat and watched the previews.

She laughed (at the idea that humans could fly, let alone in a suit that wasn't technologically possible), she cried (no, she didn't, but she laughed some more as humans got swallowed by the ground), she marveled at how limited the human mind must be to consider this quality entertainment.

Years? Try like two weeks, but Andrew didn’t mention it. “You just have no appreciation for true beauty. Watch the screen and maybe you’ll gain it.”

Andrew was going to grumble at Molan, he didn’t want Olivia to leave. He didn’t want to sit next to the other boil.

Popcorn suddenly cascaded down upon the demon. He turned and glared at Gabby, the perpetrator. He didn’t have his fire at the moment but he did have two rather large buckets of popcorn. Letting go of Olivia’s hand he grabbed one and flung it back at Gabby, possibly hitting Efflo in the process. “What was that for, I’ve been nothing but nice to you boils?” he turned in his seat glaring the boil down. Too bad his tail wasn’t there to burn menacingly, though that worked more on the horse than the dragon.

Distracted as he was, he missed some interesting faces on Olivia who was continuing herself torment.

Loud, obnoxious, filled with destruction and chaos.

And hardly any real storyline. Humans just liked to watch things blow up.

Popcorn being thrown into his face was legitimately unsurprising. Gabby laughed at the retaliation, flicking a few more kernels at the back of Andrew's head, before looking up at the screen. Just another action flick.. though..

There were a few interesting features of this particular one, that had caught Gabby's attention. He turned his head to one side, and murmured appreciatively. "Humans aren't all that bad."

Score one for DETH. And abs.

The latest trailer had a lot of fire, and snow, bleh, but a lot of fire. Humans either really liked fire, or were really afraid of it, possibly both. But Andrew really liked that fire was a big thing for humans.

Lots of guns and things too.

Somehow, she managed to swallow the horrible tasting food. But now it was hard to tell if her expression was from it or what she was seeing on the screen. More. Fire. With her other hand now free, it gave her a chance to cover her face completely - knocking the box of treats to her lap and scattering a few on her skirt and the floor and skewing her glasses a little to the side. Why couldn't they show more of that ice and snow?

Oh, and there was more popcorn in her hair.

Suddenly Olivia seemed a bit... scared? Andrew frowned and touched her shoulder. "Hey it's ok." it suddenly occurred to him that the fire was the problem. "It's just a movie and even if there is a fire. I'll take care of it, alright? I won't let it burn you." he meant his own too. Really. Andrew brushed some of the popcorn off her and settled into his seat leaving a hand on her shoulder. It was ok. Maybe he shouldn't be touching her, but he wasn't on fire now.

Somehow, during the battle of popcorn, Efflo found himself covered in the puffy, awful-tasting kernels. "Andreeeeew," he whined, "I didn't throw any at you!"

He looked at the popcorn sitting in his lap with disgust, then glanced at Gabby. Way to go, knight in shining army, stellar job of protecting your boilfriend. He picked up a piece of popcorn, and tossed it at him, watching as it sailed past his head. Efflo sighed, he had terrible aim. But Gabby was too enthralled with something on screen, studying it with a tilt of his head. Efflo's gaze followed, watching in awe as rippling muscles filled the screen. Humans watched this sort of thing? And combined it with action? Well, he thought, tilting his head in almost a mirror image of Gabby, he could kind of see the appeal. But wait a minute! They weren't supposed to be looking at things like that! They were supposed to only have eyes for each other! That's how relationships worked right?

He reclined back in his seat, angling himself so he was almost facing Gabby. Much better view. He didn't really mind the boil enjoying what he saw onscreen but he scooped some more popcorn up anyway, taking his time chucking it piece by piece at Gabby with a grin.

Flick. Flick. Flick. Popcorn kept hitting his head. Gabby finally tore his eyes away from The Rocks abs to look at Efflo, but his expression said it all.

He nuzzled his head against Efflo's shoulder and then kissed it, before paying attention to the - awww, the trailer was fading.. and now he was sad.

One last hush from Selene that went ignored, and then the theatre went dark. She squeaked, standing up and tapping her hand against the seats. "Put your glasses on now, students! And remember what I said about paying attention! Sssssstop throwing popcorn, hey!"

And her voice was once more drowned out, this time by the demand for silence in the theatre. She slunk back into her seat, hiding as far down as she could.

Pitch black, and so quiet.. someone coughed, and someone else giggled. Every sound was audible for those few moments of anticipation.

And then the soft sounds of the jungle filled the speakers, and words started to show on the screen.

3-D glasses were jarring, and made everything a little off center unless you focused hard enough for the effect to take.. well.. effect. But when you did.. the movie reached out of the screen.

He chuckled softly, bending his head to kiss Gabby's head. "Don't get too used to it," he said, smiling at the look of disappointment on the boil's face as the trailer ended. Even if Efflo worked out for days, he didn't think he could ever achieve that sort of look. He was stuck with whatever little muscle the glowworms could allow him to grow.

Pulling the glasses from where he tucked them in his pocket, he actually listened to Selene for once and put them on. He looked around, feeling a bit like a bug. Why did they need glasses to watch a movie?

Gabby put on his glasses, and gave Efflo a rakish grin. "Don't worry." He whispered into the boils ear. "You're a thousand times more good looking, to me."

Settling in to watch the movie, Gabby spotted something other than the screen that caught his attention. He'd been bugging Andrew before, but he hadn't noticed Olivia with him until that very moment. Was that.. were they.. was this..?

The movie was once again forgotten as more interesting prospects cropped up. He leaned in to whisper something else in Efflo's ear, words for him and him alone.

Efflo blushed, hastily focusing his attention on the screen, worried that if he didn't that they wouldn't end up watching any of the movie. He couldn't help himself when Gabby said things like that.

In attempt to be good, he watched the opening of a movie for a few minutes, but before long Gabby was whispering in his ear again. Efflo glanced curiously at Andrew and Olivia, then back at the dragon. He mouthed silently, "How?"

The hand on her shoulder was oh so very comforting, as were Andrew's words. She knew it was only just a movie, but seeing the flame and how much they burst into the air was not a sight the young wight really wanted to have to see. "Tell me when it's over," she mumbled into her hands. That was the least he could do for now (because there better not be a fire on this trip).

But Miss Selene seemed to beat him to the punch and the enclosing darkness of the theater, clearly indicating that the movie was going to start. Not to mention a very loud sound check to make sure everyone knew that THX was totally working.

The power of the glasses came into effect finally as Olivia pulled her hands away as a spinning blue orb appeared on the screen (and AT HER). She had to wonder what it was as it faded to the start of the movie. Oh good. Rain (coming right at her!). Calming from it, she pushed herself back into her seat, careful not to disturb Andrew's hand too much so it didn't send him the wrong impression that he should move it or anything.

Huh, these glasses...

Oh, that poor creature in the box. What were they doing to it?
