spaceBas lost out to Alec by a fraction of an inch. In his mind, the entire thing happened in dramatic slow motion. With zoom effects and music that sounded like a heart pounding. Teeth gritted, he shot off after the younger boy. If he couldn't win the toss up, surely to God he could manage to steal.

Hitting targets wasn't exactly thrilling, but Mad wasn't about to mouth off to the ginger they'd put in charge of this thing. She seemed like the type to get really ugly really fast, and while Mad could appreciate that, being someone whose default was 'get ugly', he did actually want to try out and not get kicked off the pitch for arguing with the captain. So targets it was, with a bunch of girls. Great. He took aim and swung, hard.
