"Hmmm...." Kane blushed and smiled in his sleep. He could feel the vibrations and warmth of Lan's body and it made him feel wonderful. It was as if he had gone to heaven. It was probably the one place in the entire, broken city that Kane could relax and feel loved.

Lan moved up the bed a little so his forhead was resting against Kane's. Then he slowly turned around so his back was against Kane's chest. Lan gently lifted up Kane's hand and put it around himself. He felt so loved and complete in Kane's arms. Although he knew Kane was asleep, he felt so loved with Kane's arm around him. Lan brought is paw down to rest on Kane's leg. "You're too good for me" he whispered as he lay in Kane's arms.

As they slept together through the night, Kane did not move and inch. He slept more soundly than he every had. In his dreams he could feel Lan's love and happiness and it soothed his soul. Lan's heart was the balm that could heal Kane's scarred heart and repair his dreams. As the morning crept in, Kane slowly open his eyes and blinked awake. He noticed Lan laying in his arms and smiled. He decided to let Lan sleep as long as he liked. After all, Lan had allowed kane to come and live in his home and his bed, so Kane owed him more than he could ever hope to repay. He kissed Lan softly on his neck and sunk back into the sheets and pillows.

Lan awoke to a gentle kiss on his neck fur. He slowly shifted around and saw that Kane had woken up. He blushed a little as he laid a paw and Kane's face. "How did you sleep?" he asked gently petting Kane's face and leg.

"Very well." Kane answered. "Did you sleep well?" Rising, kane stretched and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Looking at Lan he said, "So what do you think today holds? Would you like to go for a walk or explore the city?" Kane had never before had free time. Every day had been a challenge to survive, scrounging for food and begging for shelter. Now that he was with Lan he actually had time to live.

"It would be fun to explore" Lan said as he rubbed his tail along Kane's leg. "But I know about some folks who wouldn't react too well to me when i look like this" he blushed a little as he leaned in and gave Kane a brief kiss. "Im happy as long as I'm with you" he then wrapped his arms around Kane along with his legs and started purring again "Im just so happy with you"

Kane pet Lan's neck and back. "Then let's always be together so that neither of us have to be sad." Kane thought for a minute. "There's an old abandoned warehouse in the east side of the factories. It has a lot of boxes in it, back I can't get through the fence. You wanna come and see what's in there?" Exploring the unknown had always seemed like a necessary risk for Kane, but now that he had Lan he thought that it could actually be fun. They would share whatever they found and have adventures together. "You'll stay with me forever, right Lan?" Despite all the kindness and love Lan had showed Kane, he still needed reassurance. It was his first time in these waters, and he wanted to be sure of where he was stepping.

Lan kissed Kane again and looked into his eyes. "I couldn't leave you if I tried" he sad as he rubbed his body against Kane. "I love you too much" Lan pressed his furry cheek against Kane's. "It could be fun to go to that warehouse. I can get you over the fence"

Kane smiled widely. "I'm glad. Then I'll always be with you as well." Getting up, Kane stretched. "Shall we go? If we start out early we can skip the morning minimum-wage rushers. They can make the worst traffic on the sidewalks." Kane grabbed the sword Lan had given him and tied it to his back. The he took the cloak that Lan had covered him with before and tied it across his shoulders over the sword's sheath. Turning back to Lan, he asked, "Are you ready?"

"I think so" Lan said, happy that Kane was happy. "But I am gonna need to get a new shirt" He said blushing as he looked down at his furred chest. And at some point I'm gonna want that cloak back" he grinned and blushed as he tried to cover his chest with his hands. "I don't look very good"

Kane said with a teasnig smile, "I think you look great." Then he took off the cloak and tossed it back to Lan. "Thank you for letting me use it for this time. I really appriciate it." Kane waited for Lan to get ready. As he stood against the wall, he examined his finger nails. He needed to file them or he might end up scratching Lan.

Lan blushed and put on the cloak and another leather tank top. "Allright then. Lets go" he took Kane by the hand and led him out of the Opera house. "So..uhm.....where is this warehouse?"

Kane followed Lan step for step. "It's in the eastern-most part of the city behind a very tall fence. The fence has barbed wire on the top, but the place has been abandoned forever. I can't get myself over because the spikes make me worry and that makes my powers weak. I might skewer myself if I tried. and I can't blast the fence down because of all the holes. The force just goes right through them." Kane was glad to have someone to talk about all of this with. Even though it was just some minor intrest that had never been satisfied, he still felt good when he could talk to someone who would listen.

After walking for a while they reached a tall barbed fence. "Is this is it?" Lan asked innocently. He gently put a furred hand on Kane's shoulder.

"Yep," Kane said confidently looking up at the height of the fence. "Do you think you can knock it down?" Kane's sense of adventure was itching, and the fact that Lan was right beside him made it even more exciting. "So Lan," he said with a thought, "have you lived in this city all of your life?" In a city where the underground was so connected, Kane wondered why he had never seen or heard of Lan before.
