hassel demon I was born in 1970 exactly...I did more than what was on that list ...I miss that life to...I keep wondering what would happen in all the kids from the present were warped to the past what would they do? actualy my oldest said she would want to live in the sixties.I find that rather unique myself. I don't think they would survive.

Here's a "you know you're old when....": I was in the grocery store check-out and the girl must have put the wrong thing in because my change came up as something like $735. She had a brain freeze and asked me two things:
do you remember what your total was? oh, yeah: $61.09
since I gave her $80 she then asked me what my change was! and I could tell her right off the top of my head, with just a slight pause to do the math in my head: $18.91
pocket calculators didn't come out until ..... early 70's? Got a simple one for a high school graduation gift in 1974. It cost my folks $75.

just a thought but could it be because you lived in a small community during your formative years with people close by that you did those sort of things, i can tell you from experience that moving shoots all those experiences to hell. i was born in '86 and my family moved every 4 or 5 years, the people i would see changed every other year or so , after a while i just gave up and played nintendo... sad

I was born in the sixties and my family moved ever year or two. Once we moved four times in a six month period. Whew! Tough as heck. Things haven't changed much since I've gotten older as money's tight and we have to go where the work is. My old man and I will probably drop on the road somewhere but, what a life I've lived! All that and I survived the 70s! mrgreen

That was the greatest thing I have ever read. XD I was unfortunate to live the good old days (though I did get to do some of that stuff when I visit my grandparents on the country side). However, I have heard stories of walking fifteen miles in the snow to get to school, and gas was only 10 cents a gallon. I also heard of a nifty game called yard darts where the darts were very big, sharp, and pointy (and no warning label). O w O

I can't believe how much the world has changed since I was young. I'm glad I lived long enough to have a laptop and a cell phone and video games (not as much exercise as mock battles with sticks but a lot of fun). I hope I live long enough to see walls and clothes that clean themselves, lol.

born in the 70's but when I was a kid maybe preteen, I remember a game called stretch that we would play with our cousins. We would use a big knife or a screwdriver and toss it into the ground to the side of each other, & then move our feet to where the knife stuck, while keeping the other foot planted. If you fell or couldn't stretch far enough you lost the game. Never did we lose a toe or cut someone.

You know what makes me feel old? Last night on History Channel, I saw an episode of Modern Marvels on "80s tech", and I could remember every item they mentioned, from the Apple II to the DeLorean...
I even got to sit in a DeLorean once--cool car, actually. Wouldn't mind being able to have one here on Gaia, in fact!
Something else that makes me feel positively ancient is that I can remember Pong--anyone else remember that? >^_^<
