Izanagi listens to the conversation between Umeda and Iemon carefully. He feel Iemon is truly a brat that does not fear of death. Not even the kodama's true power can scared him a little but his beauty... "Hmm, I would have scared too if a man wears female kimono trying to talk to me all of a sudden." Izanagi understands how Iemon feels about that. The little Iemon some sort reminds Izanagi himself when he meet the kodama at school for the firdt time. It's the same feeling and attitude. Iemon and Izanagi were never dislike Umeda's appearance. They just don't know why would the kodama be so kind to them. Why would Umeda offer to help Iemon in his training; or protect Izanagi from Oiwa if he prefer to simply watch the world pass by? Only the kodama himself knows. But there is something different between Izanagi and Iemon. Iemon is afraid of losing anyone he cares and treat him nice. Somehow, Izanagi know the source. The person Iemon loved and cared the most but unable to protect. His mother... No one has ever treat Iemon as nice as his own mother. Iemon is afraid of losing someone like that again. That was why he stay away from those who are kind and nice to him. Always lonely...Compare with Iemon, Izanagi has a better life. There, the kodama still go on with his sarcastic lecture. "Give him a break, Umeda-san. Enough with the dry humor already. He's just a kid... Damn you b*****d." How he wish his words will be able to reach the kodama. But no, it is impossible. The rain has finally stopped. It was a good massage for Iemon though it was very cold. He squeezes some water out from his sleeves and untie his long ponytail which happens to be wet. Little Iemon smiled as he look up to the starry sky. It is night time already...The kodama sure has a lot of energy to talk. "Thanks for the nice shower and humoring lecture, nashi seibetsu-san." Iemon smirked evily said. "Really appreciate it...Now, may I be ex...cuse..." Iemon collapsed after that. His knees are bleeding and he has a fever. Probably because of the rain... At the same time when Iemon passes out, a hole appears just right below of Izanagi. "Oh shi!t...What now?" He thought inwardly before falling into the hole. Everything went black out after that fall. Where am I? It better not be some strange place again. Izanagi can feel the wind stroking his hair and a familiar calming sweet scent filling in the air. Open his eyes, slowly. It is dark in here. If Izanagi could be a little bit more clever and perceptive, he would find out this is the reality. And someone is resting beside him, holding his hand. That someone will be...

"Damned brat..." Umeda whispered darkly, suddenly wanting to throttle the youth. At least until Iemon collapsed to the ground. Sighing, the kodama studied his nails for a long moment. It would have been the last image that Izanagi saw... the rather narcissistic spirit doing. Of course what Umeda REALLY did... was take very diligent care of the young Iemon.
In reality however, Umeda was still laying beside Izanagi. One of the kodama's hands held one of the young man's, and he was very carefully siphoning energy from his own body into that of the other. "If you don't wake up soon, Izanagi... then I'm going to have to force you awake..." Umeda smirked slightly. "I doubt you want me to do that. I know you've enough energy now to hear me... so how about opening your eyes, hmm?" He wasn't REALLY going to force Izanagi awake. Though, the idea of kissing the young man and shocking him in a sense had crossed the spirit's mind already. "It's just us here, Izanagi. You don't have to worry or be afraid of anyone judging you. But I really do need you to wake up now, alright?"

Izanagi did opened his eyes and heard Umeda. Although he wasn't sure if this is the reality or just some other weird dream... He feel the warmth and energy the other is transfering to him throught the hand. Izanagi take a good look of his surroundings before moving his eye sight to the kodama laying beside him. He wants to be sure that this isn't any dream but it is the reality. This room...and the sakura scent....Sou yo, I followed Umeda-san to visit his old home, Seimeijinja in Kyoto. And this is...this is his room......So, I wasn't dead I suppose. After confirming his place, he turned his head to the man beside him. The man he is in love with. "Damn you look kinda pale, man." He smiled slightly to the man. "Da me yo. You shouldn't use this much energy on me. Who's gonna protect me if you are not in good condition?" He grips Umeda's hand tightly. This time...this time I won't easily let go your hand.

"Aoi ja nai..." Umeda replied, sitting up fully, Izanagi's hand still in his own. "I'm not the one who got all his energy sucked out of his body." There was SOME teasing in the comment... but it was also a fact. Izanagi's energy had sustained Umeda long enough to keep them both alive... but now it was the young man paying the price for it, instead of the kodama. And Umeda didn't much care for that... Rolling his eyes, the spirit shrugged. "I suppose I could be bouncing off the walls and proclaiming 'Genki da ne!' but... I don't exactly feel THAT good." his dark eyes focused on Izanagi. "I am quite fine though, I assure you. As long as I don't have to spirit you out of a train again, we should be fine." It had taken an ENORMOUS amount of energy to get them to the temple in one piece. Umeda wasn't about to play that down. What he had no problem trying to avoid, was his own physical condition. He had energy, yes... but nowhere near as much as he was comfortable with... "You, on the other hand, Izanagi... are to get some bed rest. Sensei's orders."
Trans: Aoi ja nai = I'm not pale (yes it's really "I'm not blue" but blue is pale... that's one thing I totally remember from class.) Genki da ne = (no idea how to really translate that... it's like, saying you're full of energy. Usually I hear it just as "GENKI!" but it's a feminine expression every time I hear it so I tried slightly to make it a little more masculine... kinda.... sorta... maybe?) (((OOC: I think you wanted "Dame yo"... unless it wasn't supposed to be "stop it" (or "cut it out" or something of the same equivalent).)))

(spelled that wrongly...edited)
Umeda suuuuure love teasing the young man. Izanagi was not about to tease back. In fact, he is glad to be STILL alive. He had a good look at Umeda. Gazing at him. Compare to the other Umeda he saw back then, the one wearing a kimono that frightens Iemon, the current Umeda look much better. Eyes narrowed. He think about what happened back in the dream. No, it is not a dream...More like a flashback to the past. What he saw did happened back at 400 years ago. He remembered the last thing he saw was Iemon collapsed and Umeda studying his nails. He wants to know what happened after that. I wonder if I should tell Umeda-san what I saw... What the heck was that flashback for seriously? Does this mean...Iemon...has been awakened? Izanagi is afraid...He is afraid of losing everything he got right now. Family, friends, his pet...and of course, Umeda Noe. He grip even tightly of Umeda's hand. They both don't have much time...Izanagi learned the truth of Umeda searching for a place to die from Hakase. And the awakening of Iemon in him. What can he do to stop all this to happen? Think Izanagi, think! Think harder! "You, on the other hand, Izanagi... are to get some bed rest. Sensei's orders." The sentence break off Izanagi's concentration. He look at the spirit that has not fully regain his energy and chuckled. "You, on the other hand, Umeda-san...are going to rest too. With me..."

For a long moment, the kodama's dark eyes studied Izanagi. He looked over the young man's face, scrutinizing everything he saw. Before finally speaking. "What did you dream?" Umeda asked softly, somehow feeling that Izanagi wasn't completely awake yet. "If not dream, what was it you saw in the darkness, Izanagi?" A slight half-smile found his lips. "As much as I would love to lay here and get some rest... your preoccupation worries me a bit. As do both the feelings of pity and fear that I see in your gaze even now." He wanted the young man to tell him what was wrong, because something obviously was wrong... It was as if Izanagi held an unspoken question... one meant for Umeda, yet one that the boy couldn't voice. At least not without some prompting from the kodama.

"What did you dream?" That question stunned Izanagi. Did Umeda just read his mind? "If not dream, what was it you saw in the darkness, Izanagi?" Maybe he expressed a little too much of his feeling by just gazing at the kodama... Izanagi forced a smile upon his face, release Umeda's hand and turn his body to the other side. He does not want Umeda to see anymore of it. Those memories or flashbacks could have hurt Umeda... Besides, how the heck can you tell someone who is searching the death "I'm worry now because I know you're gonna die..." or "I am scared of losing you", hmm? And who do you think the kodama is dying for? Also, if Umeda knows Iemon is coming back...If Iemon is coming back...Izanagi knew there is no way Umeda is going to look at him anymore. Umeda will live happily ever after with Iemon...forgetting the existance of Izanagi. His smile fades away while thinking of it. "...I'll tell you. But only if you promise to be my man servant." Heh, Izanagi...you are brave enough to bring up such offer. Using the pride of a kodama...what an evil strategy, Izanagi. All this time, the kodama was not vowed to protect Izanagi. He is protecting on his own will, which also he called it as 'the last act'. To assure the kodama won't do anything ridiculous, like dying for Izanagi...or Iemon. The young man came up with this offer. It is also a way to get himself closer to Umeda. Because of jealousy and selfishness, Izanagi do not mind to make good use of each other in order to protect each other as well. But will Umeda forget about pride and accept the offer, or he will give up to keep his pride?

Shimobe... Manservant... That was a concept that Umeda hadn't thought about for a long time. It also wasn't a concept that he planned to put into motion any time soon either. Dark eyes narrowed slightly and the kodama stood up. Sure, he wasn't supposed to be moving around so much... but with Izanagi's back to him, and with THAT request, he couldn't exactly sit still now. "If you don't tell me, you could be in danger, Izanagi. Do you realize that?" Umeda asked, his voice taking a tiny bit of a cold tone with the boy. 'I pledged my life to Iemon and look how that turned out. Why would I do it again?' he thought to himself, before fulling turning and looking at the young man. A swift wind blew outside, scattering sakura from the tree just beyond the porch into the room. It also succeeded in whipping the kodama's hair around his face. Having changed clothes after Izanagi fainted, so as to make sure bloody clothes weren't the first thing the kid saw when he woke up, the dark blue yukata that Umeda now sported, shifted with the breeze, ruffling the sleeves and the hem. For a long moment, he watched Izanagi, then, turned his face to the wind. Arms crossed over his chest, he sighed softly and spoke the very words which he had just thought. "I pledged my life to Iemon, and look how that turned out. Why would you expect me to do that again?" after a pause, he continued. "I'm trying to protect you, but I can't do that if you don't tell me what's wrong. I... I don't want to be bound to another mortal by some petty oath! It's different for spirits! If a spirit breaks the oath there are consequences, if a mortal betrays that oath, there is but the wrath of the one betrayed. My oath was betrayed, and I couldn't bring myself to do anything about it. I just watched..." as he spoke, his lithe fingers gripped the sleeves of his yukata, clenching the material in his fists as if talking about it hurt. But his expression never changed. "This isn't the first time you've been in danger in your dreams... Have I not proven that I will protect you? Must I bind my soul to another mortal for you to be satisfied?" Umeda asked softly.
(((OOC: I'm using Shimobe (しもべ) for Manservant via the Boku (僕) kanji. There are various variations on Manservant, but most involve the Boku Kanji and so I just took my pick.)))

"If you don't tell me, you could be in danger, Izanagi. Do you realize that?" I do realize this... "I pledged my life to Iemon, and look how that turned out. Why would you expect me to do that again?" That's a surprise... "I'm trying to protect you, but I can't do that if you don't tell me what's wrong." I'm trying as well...so that you won't be able to hurt my feelings too. "My oath was betrayed, and I couldn't bring myself to do anything about it." ... ... Izanagi push away the blanket that keeps him warm and sits up. A greyish green yukata he is wearing. That is right...His shirt was stained with blood. His own blood and Umeda's. "Must I bind my soul to another mortal for you to be satisfied?" "...That's enough!" He shouted. Gripping the blanket on his knees. "You have no idea how much I care about you!" He glare at Umeda. It is his first time being so angry. He was never ever angry at anyone like this before. "Why do you always pick up Iemon in the conversation? Do you miss him so much?! I was avoiding to pick up on that name. Afraid that you might not like it or upset about it. The more you talk about him, the more i feel like wanting to compare myself with him. He hurt your feelings...And here you are hurting mine because of him. How do you think I will feel if I know you were dying for me? ...Or it wasn't for me but Iemon?" It aches in the chest. He couldn't breath properly either. Izanagi is using most of his energy to tell Umeda that. If he don't calm down immediately, he will collapse again. There is no need to be angry anyway. You, Izanagi, is not that important. It was never about you. So if Umeda wants to know it, there is no neccessary to care about who and whose feelings. But Izanagi don't feel like talk much. His energy is almost used up... He said it ever so softly. "...Mini kui bakemono." The words Iemon used to piss the kodama off. If Umeda still remember...he would know that it wasn't a dream Izanagi saw. But a memory of Iemon his own. Iemon...The person inside Izanagi is awakening.

Izanagi's shout startled Umeda, and the kodama froze. His dark eyes blinked in surprise at the young man's words. "You have no idea how much I care about you!" He was so shocked by that sentence, in fact, that everything else that Izanagi said simply went in one ear and out the other. Why would he care about me? the spirit thought to himself, completely floored by the concept. "I've been a complete b*****d to you since I met you..." Umeda whispered, turning to look at the younger man. "I haven't been nice... I've just been... well... myself..." he shook his head, long straight black hair falling around his shoulders. "Doushite?...." He simply couldn't comprehend this notion. Up until that point, the kodama had been pretty much drifting from person to person who suited his fancy. This kid was, well a kid first off but he didn't even look like Umeda's type. And yet... As Noe fixed his dark gaze on Izanagi, as he realized how much he had hurt the young man...
Sighing, Umeda sat down on the porch, his back against the door frame and his gaze torn between the beautiful sakura just outside, and the young man sitting on the futon. "I'm... I'm going to try and explain this to you." the kodama began softly. "You ARE Iemon... but you are also Izanagi. You're the same soul reborn. Protecting you... following you around... it's FOR you, Izanagi. But you're right, it's also for Iemon because you're one in the same. I..." "...Mini kui bakemono." Once again, Umeda couldn't help but freeze. His eyes moved slowly, locking on the young man once again. Either Izanagi just called him an 'ugly monster' or...
A tightening in Noe's chest was the only warning he got, before a violent cough ripped through his body. The kodama raised one hand to his mouth, blood exploding into his palm and trickling down between his fingers as the cough tore through him. He felt physically fine... mentally though... that was another story.
"You would dare to bring down the wrath of a kodama on your head, boy? I inhabited this land long before your family... and I will inhabit it long after your bones have turned to mere dust."
"And here I had taken you for a fool. I feel your father to be an even greater one than you."
"So tell me, Iemon-san. If you hate judging your enemies by your katana... why have you judged me in just the same fashion?"
"What?! Are you stupid? You are a dangerous thing to mortals!"
"Dangerous? Immortal? My my... you humans sure do need to learn a few things regarding my kind, don't you?"
"To be honest, I don't sense danger from your presence. But your appearance...I mean by look. It frightens me."
"What's wrong with my appearance? I happen to be quite beautiful, and graceful, and I like it that way. Would you rather I appear as an ugly fat pig of a man? Honestly... children these days have no tact or good taste... Besides, you're no blossom in spring yourself... at least not the way you are right now. Maybe in a few years you'll look a bit more handsome, but you're still too boyish for my tastes."
Blinking to try and clear his head, Umeda brought his blood-stained hand away from his mouth and used the sleeve of the yukata to wipe away any lingering traces. His throat felt raw, his lungs tight and strained... but how he felt in that moment... was irrelevant. "You saw it, didn't you?" the kodama asked, looking to Izanagi. "There is no coincidence that you have asked me to be your manservant... and called me an ugly monster. You've seen the memory!" Noe shook his head, "It's too soon... you shouldn't be remembering these things yet." this notion baffled him, unless it had something to do with that damned sword. Or the various dream scape attacks lately.
"I'll get Hakase to loan me a sutra that should keep the memories from resurfacing any time soon..." Umeda spoke, standing. Though he seemed to be gripping the door frame rather hard in the process... in truth, he was trying not to fall down. "The longer your memories are repressed, Izanagi... the longer you can stay you... and the safer you'll be."
In truth, Umeda didn't want Iemon to return. He didn't think he could take that kind of pain... again...

That violent cough Umeda made let the young man worried. Especially he saw blood trickling down from Umeda's fingers... Izanagi quickly get up and head toward to the spirit. He laid his right hand on Umeda's left shoulder, wanted to ask the spirit if he is alright. Yet he isn't speaking. Izanagi just...looking at the red bloodstain on Umeda's palm. Didn't know what to say...
"You saw it, didn't you? ...You've seen the memory!"
Umeda remembers. Those words Iemon said to him so many centuries ago...Umeda still remember them. Izanagi pull back his hand that is on Umeda's shoulder and look at somewhere else. Try not making eye contact with the spirit. He look at the potrait that is hanging on the wall. There was nothing special about that potrait though. Just a blossomed Sakura tree. The young man don't feel like saying "Yeah, I've seen it." or "Yes..." either. Actually, he don't feel like talking to Umeda right now.
"It's too soon... you shouldn't be remembering these things yet."
Too soon? What does that mean? Why shouldn't I be remembering these yet? Something crossed his mind at that moment. Izanagi suspect Umeda is hiding a secret from him. A secret like, when will Izanagi die... Nah...Umeda wouldn't hide a secret from him, would he? It was probably because Izanagi never asks. That was why it remains as a secret. He look upon the spirit who is going to get Hakase for a sutra to repress Iemon's memories. The same hand he used to laid on the spirit's shoulder just now grabbed Umeda's free hand. He needs to know... "How much time I still got? Please tell me, Umeda-san..." The answer could surprise him...However, Izanagi is ready for this. He can accept the truth because this is what it is. And he will try to figure out a way to prevent this to happen.

There was a time... when Umeda would have shrugged Izanagi's hand off his shoulder. A time when he thought mortals shouldn't worry about a spirit... because he wasn't about to worry about them. But now... Well...
He couldn't help but stop walking, couldn't do anything but freeze when the young man's hand grabbed his own. "How much time I still got? Please tell me, Umeda-san..." Black eyes focused on the tatami floor, his bare feet somehow more interesting. Dark hair fell over his shoulders, the spirit completely still for a long time. He didn't even appear to breathe...
"Wakaranai..." Umeda whispered softly. Turning swiftly, the kodama reached out his other hand and grabbed Izanagi's shoulder, pulling the young man against his chest. He held him there for a long moment, resting his cheek against the top of the boy's head. "Wakaranai..." It was the only thing he COULD say. He had no idea how long Izanagi would be able to stay himself, and for some damn reason... Umeda didn't want Iemon to surface. He didn't want this boy to become someone else... "Gomen nasai, Izanagi..." Umeda whispered, eyes closed as he held Izanagi close. "I didn't want it to turn out this way... I... I had hoped that by being close, I could help push away the things that threatened you but... but now... I see that it's me." He couldn't stop now... the spirit had to get these words out. "You're remembering me as Iemon... and I never wanted that. I haven't changed in all those years, not really... and I guess I forgot that." sighing softly, Umeda pushed Izanagi back to look into the young man's eyes. "That's why I need to get a sutra from Hakase. That's why I brought you here, Izanagi. To protect you. To keep you YOU for as long as I can. Until... until you either accept it and can find some common ground with the soul within or..." how could he tell this boy that he might become completely consumed?! "Or until Iemon takes you over completely."

Izanagi wait for Umeda's reply patiently. With the silence in the room, he heard the spirit's reply even though Umeda whispered so softly. Waka ja nai desu...ka? Izanagi thought inwardly. He don't know if Umeda didn't want to tell him the truth, or it is real that Umeda don't know of it. He look away again. This time, he look at the floor...and then the futon he was sleeping. He thought, maybe he should go back to sleep, since he don't know what else to say anymore. Just as he was thinking to go back inside his futon, Umeda grabbed Izanagi's shoulder and pull him against his chest. From this unexpected action, Izanagi is shocked and surprised. His eyes opened widely and couldn't speak a word. Blinked, he wanted to look up Umeda's face but the spirit has his cheeks resting against the top of his head.
"Wakaranai..."
...Izanagi can feel Umeda's sadness through his voice. The spirit must have been suffer from those terrible memories all this time. How can he be so jealous? How can he be blind folded by his own feelings? How can he forget to care for the spirit's feelings? Izanagi is sorry. One of his hand lifting up automatically, wanting to lay on the spirit's back...
"I didn't want it to turn out this way... I... I had hoped that by being close, I could help push away the things that threatened you but... but now... I see that it's me."
His hand stopped in the middle air immediately when he heard Umeda said this. True. It was Umeda's love for Iemon hurting this young man... All those wicked flashbacks and memories attack were because Izanagi hope Umeda will love him back if he can be a little more like Iemon to make the spirit look at him. The truth is...Izanagi is learning how to be Iemon without knowing this himself! Izanagi put down his hand as the spirit continue speaking, explaining...
"You're remembering me as Iemon... "
Damn! So it was my fault. I was the one who made Umeda upset! He started to hate and blame himself for being the descendant. If he wasn't the descendant of Iemon, all this will never happen. He probably won't be able to see spirits. Oiwa and the other ghosts will not hunt for him. Also, he probably will never meet Umeda...and will not fallen for him too. Izanagi look into the dark eyes and Umeda is looking into his. "That's why I need to get a sutra from Hakase. That's why I brought you here, Izanagi. To protect you. To keep you YOU for as long as I can." "Umeda-san..." The young man is glad to know that Umeda did not want Iemon to return. Izanagi didn't want to turn into some other guy either. He wants to stay as himself. He finally realize everything Umeda did was for him. For Izanagi. Not Iemon. Being the descendant isn't something he can avoid. But being Iemon, with Umeda's help, he can prevent this from happening...maybe. It was silly for Izanagi to think to become Iemon so that Umeda would love him back. Now, since Iemon's return wasn't what Umeda wanted... "I'm so selfish that I only think of my own feelings and have neglected yours...I always thought it was because I am Iemon, that was why you are being close to me." He lowered his head when saying this. Suddenly, 'the last act' Umeda told him before pop up in his mind. For real, he didn't want Umeda to die or disappear from him. That was because he was selfish... "And if...you insist to role 'the last act' you talked about for me...I will respect your decision. Even though it is hard to believe you are doing this for a brat..." Pointing at himself with his finger and giggles as he call himself a brat. Then he become serious. "I didn't know what does the last act means before coming here...But now I know. " He look up to the spirit. "I really really really don't want you to leave you know...?" Izanagi added.

Umeda smiled slightly, "How were you supposed to know what I felt, baka?" he asked, trying to be gentle but firm with the young man. "All you knew was that I loved Iemon... you knew he betrayed me and I stood by, watching as he spiraled to ruin." that slight smile turned to a bit of a half smile. "And you're not as big a brat as you think you are." Releasing Izanagi, the kodama folded his hands into the blood stained yukata. He would need to rest... but not until he chanted a sutra for the young man before him. "I won't keep it a secret from you anymore then." the spirit whispered, dark eyes focusing on Izanagi for a moment. "I'm dying. I have been for a while. The blood just now... isn't because I was injured, Izanagi. It's because I've lived a very long time. I... I guess I wanted to be useful before I died. Protecting you from the shadows of my past... seemed like a noble ambition. I... well, I didn't take your feelings into account."
After that, Umeda left the room for a time. He retrieved a sutra from Hakase... and a lecture regarding his health. Of course the priest insisted that the kodama drink some of the sakura sap but... he declined such an idea, insisting that he needed to return to Izanagi as soon as possible. Hakase insisted that the spirit drink it, so he agreed to allow some brought to the room. Right now though, Izanagi's safety was more important.
After a quick change of clothes, strangely enough into a woman's yukata, Noe returned to his room. "I've brought the sutra." he explained, sliding the wooden door open as he entered. "Oh and, I changed clothes. Whoever put me in that damned Yukata, which I'm guessing was Hakase, forgot my disgust with men's clothing of that era. It was all too damn loose, if you ask my opinion. No doubt he thought it a fun joke... the pudgy b*****d." Umeda spoke with a slight teasing smile. Yes, he was being nice... a rarity for him, but the kid did deserve a little warmth. After everything that had already happened...
