He laughed slightly falling in step beside her. "It's true. After all a single second can be the difference between life and death. Or friend and foe. Even love and hate.

Harukoo nodded. "Nicely said. I admit I've never heard it said that way before." She stopped and smelled another flower. "So tell me Prince Kyo how do you know where the end of the maze is?"

"The maze is about two miles or so big and we're not that far in. My guess would be at least another 15 minutes depending on our pace."

Their pace was not very fast but Harukoo liked it that way. It was nice to get away from everything. "You know my father's birthday party is in a few weeks." She paused a little nervous about asking. "And I'm sure my father has already asked your father to attend. But I was wondering if you would like to accompany me. That way I have some one to talk to so the other princes won't. You don't have to come. It will be pretty boring. Just a bunch of royals from the other kingdoms and their sons all looking for marriage. That and a bunch of giggling girls." Harukoo tried to avoid his gaze.

He smiled slightly, but not like how he was in the picture. "It would be an honor to accompany you, Princess. Thank you for the invitation."

Harukoo smiled. "You're welcome." A few moments passed with silence. "Can I ask you something? You don't have to answer if you don't want to." She bit her lip do to nerves. "Why don't you smile anymore? I mean I saw the picture with your smile and it's different. Almost brighter."

He was silent a moment. "Things happen." He said at last, no longer able to meet her gaze. "To be honest, I'm not quite sure when I stopped. I just did and haven't really since."

They kept walking in silence. Well this is awkward. She thought. "Maybe one day that will change." She smiled. Maybe their was something she could do.

"Maybe. That's what my family hopes for anyway. I'm sorry if this is ruining your tour." He apologized.

"No it's nice. Trust me I'm loving this. You have no idea how hard it is to talk to someone your own age who doesn't want to talk about marriage. But let's change the subject. What do you like to do?"

He smiled slightly. "I like to garden, ride horses, and spare mainly. Though traveling is nice too." He answered. "And you?"

"Besides staring at the stars, riding horses as well, reading, and playing the piano. Actually, that's where I spend most of my time."

"You play beautifully." He said remembering when he had heard her play before. "Did someone teach you?"

"I had a teacher for a year. And then after he left I just kept playing. More frequently then I was asked. It become more of an obsession." She shrugged and then laughed. "It drove my mother crazy how many times I would play the piano."

"It's great that you kept up with it." He said with a slight smile. "My mother gets fed up when my sisters and I have don't stop with our music too."
