((I can’t believe it’s like....practically over....like what am I suppose to do....one of my friends like hates my guts....my other 6 with 1 person are like slow....as FUDGE, I can’t find anyone else to rp with, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THIS IS MY ONLY CREATIVE OUTLET?! *cries in a corner*))
Once both of them had a bit of a cry out, everything slowly started to slip into place. Anna had to take a moment to calm down, her heavy breathing subsiding. She’d never felt this way before...so tired and after what crying? Their breathing slowed down and went back to a slow calm pace. Both lying beside each other on the small bed while Anna’s head gently resting just under Oliver’s collar bone. Her hands were neatly curled on his chest while his arm was around her.
They lay in silence for a while, listening to each other breathing, basking in each other’s presence, thanking whatever presence out there that they were alive. Whatever happened to them now would define them, would change both of them forever. They didn’t belong in either world, too afraid to admit to their past and present lives. But at this moment, what mattered most to Anna was right now...being in Oliver’s arms, being with the one person in the world who would truly understand and care for her.
After a while, Oliver broke their silence by wiping his eyes with the end of his sleeve and then spoke. At the moment Anna was too tired to really answer. Her body hadn’t really fully recovered yet. But she did understand what he was saying and did want the same thing that Oliver wanted, she just suddenly felt an overwhelming wave of embarrassment that she’d never felt before. Wiping her eyes with her index fingers, she sniffled a bit and nodded lightly.
“Mm.”
That was all she said. One small little gesture that she hoped would reflect Oliver’s remarks exactly. She curled up to him a bit more, hoping she wasn’t crushing him, and closed her eyes, almost immediately falling into another more comfortable sleep now knowing she’d wake up next to the one person she knew in her heart, she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, and the one person she’d want to wake up to every day.
((For some reason I found like an appropriate like epilogue kinda thing would be like them sending their kid to the Institute, with their kid having SOME SORTA POWER, and both of them giving the kid advice. And both of them like secretly having a bit of their powers left, but they didn’t tell each other but their kid knew. Like how Magneto, even though his power was stripped in the 3rd movie, in the end he was playing chess by myself in the park and was able to move the glass chess piece like a LITTLE BIT))

((Blah, sorry for taking so long again. Would have gotten this up yesterday, but I had to go to my cousin's high school graduation sweatdrop I'm taking the liberty of deciding the kid's name and gender, but I thought I'd leave it up to you to decide on her power ^_^))
"Oh, wow!"
"Elly, don't run off!"
Elinor Harding stopped short with her arms outstretched as if she could embrace the entire Academy and everyone in it. She stood frozen for a moment, beaming, then skipped happily up the path towards the magnificent mansion, periodically calling back to her parents to hurry up.
But Anna and Oliver, hands linked, took a more leisurely pace up the gravel path they both knew so well. As the gate clicked shut behind them, Oliver felt as though they were once more enclosed and embraced by the world they had left but never forgotten. They could hear laughter and voices and the bouncing of balls from the basketball court behind the Academy, and a few students hung out under the trees on the front lawn. To his surprise, Oliver could see the pale purple of a lilac bush peeking out from behind the corner of the building, and indulged in a secret smile. Those were his lilacs.
When they had left the Academy, they had left as normal humans, all of their power burned out of them. He had found a job writing for a newspaper, and had tried to put that life behind him, but he had always kept a garden in their backyard. As if hoping he could someday feel that connection to the earth again, that at a motion from his fingers he could draw vines and trees from the ground.
His garden always did well, but it was only in the last five years that he began to wonder. At first it seemed like wishful thinking, but he slowly realized that if he sat very still with his fingers in the earth, he could feel something. It was very faint, like a familiar whispering sound he couldn't quite place, but it was there. And if he exerted his will towards the plant that whispered to him like that, he could adjust its growth. It was nothing to his former power - he could no longer make a plant spring up from nothing or make a tall oak tree reach to the sky in the space of a minute - but he could make his plants grow abnormally large or small, or produce their crop more quickly than they naturally would, or grow in other ways that were unnatural. It was a slow, sluggish process, but he reveled in it, his own secret guilty pleasure.
There were many times that he looked up at Anna across the dinner table and was on the verge of telling her what he had discovered, because he longed to wonder aloud with her why his power hadn't been completely burned out of him, even though it was unnatural power to start with and he had just reverted to his natural state. But he always stopped himself before he could get the words out, because how would it make her feel? She had spent so much longer with her powers, and had taken their loss so much harder. The early years of their marriage had been a lot harder than either of them anticipated, as the usual problems of a young couple were compounded by them trying to cope with this loss. Some very ugly words had been passed back and forth in those days, words of bitterness and blame. Even though they had resolved those differences long ago, Oliver was afraid of opening that wound again. He didn't want her to grow bitter over this unexpected resurgence of his powers.
So he kept silent. And then, to their surprise, when Elly had hit puberty at the age of eleven, power began to manifest itself in her. Oliver had assumed, since he and Anna had been artificially mutated, that they wouldn't pass on the mutant gene to their daughter, but apparently he had been wrong. He was just glad that Elly didn't have to endure the lies or rejection that he and Anna had faced in their childhoods. Elly had been upset at first to find out that they had hidden from her that they were mutants, but eventually she accepted that they had to keep the Academy a secret in case she didn't turn out to be a mutant as well. Since then, it had only been excitement in the Harding house as they prepared to bring her here. Even though most of the students were at a high school level, Elly needed several solid months to get her powers under control, so they had decided to send her on ahead. There would be a few students her age, and at least she would be with people like herself. She was cheerful and gregarious, so he knew she would soon make new friends.
Elly was waiting impatiently for them at the front door. "Come on, guys, hurry up!" she whined. "I wanna meet the Professor!"

((That’s no problem ;3 no worries. I knew you were busy. Ahhh you gave me the hard job hahaha it’s okay I got something. I'm sorry it's soooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu long! There was a lot to go through...I wanted to emphasize how hard it was for Anna to get used to being normal, and how their daughter changed her outlook on everything. It'll get moving. I swear I was tearing up while writing this.)) “The Professor isn’t going anywhere sweetheart, he’s anxious to meet you too, but be patient.” Anna called after her daughter who had run ahead of them to the large double doors.
A couple of steps short of the front entrance Anna stopped walking and squeezed Oliver’s hand gently, motioning him to stop a second. Releasing a heavy sigh she took a good long look at the mansion she had once called home. Nothing had changed..nothing except the students perhaps, maybe the teachers, but everything was still the way they’d left it fifteen years ago. It was hard leaving. More so for Anna than for Oliver. She’d lived at the academy for almost six years, and had her powers for a little longer than that. It was hard coming to terms with being a normal human being. But the Professor had helped them find a place not too far out of the state and helped them get jobs. Oliver wrote for a newspaper, and Anna became a piano teacher. In some small way the two of them kept a small part of their old life with them. Anna played the piano almost routinely in the morning and just before bed, and Oliver kept a garden; which she often helped with. Anna knew how fond he was of his garden and sometimes let him stay in there for hours on end, it was his connetion to what he once had like how her piano was her connection to her life at the institute. The transition of living a normal life often took a toll on Anna in their early years of marriage. As if getting married at a very young age wasn’t hard enough, there were a lot of things she never really learned how to do. She never realized how often she relied on her powers when she was in school or how very little she knew of the world. It was very frustrating when she couldn't do something a simple human should have been able to do, and sometimes she’d lash out at Oliver. Harsh words were thrown around, arguments sometimes lasted days…but in the end Anna was usually the one to cave and apologize. She loved Oliver more than anything in the world, it was hard to stay mad at him. She was mostly angry at herself for never being…enough for him and often questioned whether he was really happy with her – although he always assured her she was everything he could ask for and more. After three years of marriage Anna surprised Oliver with the news that she was pregnant. It was a shock to both of them since they hadn’t really been trying to have children yet, but they decided to keep it anyway. It was then that the fighting was put aside to make way for something more important. Anna desperately wanted to be a good mother, to give her child the love and affection she never got growing up. She knew Oliver would be a good father, he was already a loving husband, so what more could she ask for? Sometimes it was hard for him to support her decisions, especially when it was crunch time and the baby would be coming soon. She desperately wanted to have a natural childbirth but Oliver was strongly against it. They argued a little over the subject but he eventually caved when she promised he could name the baby. It was hard…for both of them. You’d think after all of her training in the danger room with Mr. Logan, and going on missions she’d be prepared for the pain of a natural childbirth. Boy was she wrong. Her back was sore, she felt like she constantly had to go to the bathroom even though they made her stay on the bed, it got to the point that standing and walking was just as painful. She was tired…more tired than she’d ever been coming out of training, and she was in a lot of pain. You couldn’t count how many times Oliver caught her crying and moaning over how much pain she was in, how much it hurt, or how many times she’d apologize for almost breaking his hand. Anna was in labour almost 28 hours before she was admitted into the delivery room. But she was as brave as she was stubborn even though Oliver begged and pleader her to get an epidural. She was in the delivery room for another two hours before the doctor placed their beautiful new baby girl in her arms. Elinor Harding was the most beautiful thing Anna had ever laid eyes on. She was almost too tired to stay awake but the minute she held her daughter Anna knew that nothing in her past mattered anymore. And they were good parents. Anna did everything. She fawned over Elly, perhaps even spoiled her and she was even considerate of Oliver since sometimes he had to work late to finish some news stories. But she didn’t mind, every minute of her life since Elinor was born was devoted to loving her unconditionally. Anna somehow had forgotten all about her powers. Never once did she talk about her past, or mention anything to do with that part of their lives. She'd put a lock on that closet containing her secrets the second she held Elinor in her arms. Anna seemed happier...much happier than she had been in a long time, granted she was always tired and sometimes too worn out to give Oliver any attention but she was happy being...normal for once and that's what mattered. The two figured their daughter wouldn’t have any powers. They didn’t have the mutant gene to begin with. And since they hadn’t anticipated it they kept their past life a secret. While she was growing up they filled it with wonderful lies about how they were childhood sweethearts (which was partially true), and how they moved away from each other (still partially true) and transferred to the same high school years later (also pretty much true, they just left out the mutant aspect of their lives). It was when Elinor hit puberty early that they had to come out of the closet and tell the truth. Of course there was a lot to go through but it was a relief to Anna. Not just that she could share such an intimate part of herself with her daughter but that Elinor didn't have to go through it alone; her parents would always be there for her the way their parents hadn't been. Of course the little girl was upset with them but she quickly got over it after they explained their story. They were only trying to protect her from disappointment in case she didn't develop the mutant gene. They both decided that it would be best for her to live at the Institute sooner rather than later in order for her to learn how to control her powers better, and so there were no accidents at Elly's current school. The Professor was more than happy to take her whenever it was convenient for them to them to drop in. And for several months the Institute, being a mutant, and their secret lives were the only conversations to be had in the Harding House. "It feels good to be back..." Anna said softly, turning towards him with her big dark brown eyes that she'd grown so fond of, giving him a slightly smile and squeezing his hand again very gently. She’d forgotten how much she missed the Institute but she’d learn to love her human life too. Hearing her daughter whine again at the main doors Anna turned back to look at her as they walked up the few steps, "I don't think you've ever been this excited to meet anyone. Try not to overwhelm him okay? He’s not as young as he used to be.” Anna said sweetly and pushed open the front doors to the main hall.
Everything was the same...just as she remembered it but the minute she took a step through the threshold of the Institute Anna felt a small breeze pass through her, and not like a regular breeze on a sunny day, it was different somehow...like she felt the air go right through her.
Turning her head toward the door they'd just walked through she looked out to the world curiously, "Did you feel that?" she asked her husband while her attention was focused outside, instead of the curious, energectic eleven year old running around the main hall of the Institute.

"Feel what?" Oliver asked in surprise, but Anna shrugged it off and they continued. Elly had to be reminded a few times to be quiet as they passed the classrooms, where some of the students were taking their lessons. She also had to be dissuaded from trying to peek through the little windows in the doors, to see if she could see anyone using their powers.
But finally they made it to the Professor's office. A thrill ran down Oliver's spine as he heard the familiar voice of years long gone say calmly, "Come in."
The office looked much the same as it always had, and though Xavier's head was wrinkled and spotted with age, his gaze was just as steady and piercing as ever. His whole face lit up with a smile as the three Hardings came in, and he rolled out from behind his desk to shake their hands. "Wonderful to see you again," he said warmly.
Once they were all seated comfortably, Anna and Oliver on either side of Elly, and had exchanged pleasantries about their work and how the Academy was doing, the Professor turned his attention to the reason they had come in the first place.
"Well, Elinor," he said, giving her an understanding smile as she fidgeted during the grown-ups' boring conversation, "how about you tell me more about this power of yours?"

((So I'm posting this not from home...without my laptop so I some of my information might be incorrect))
"I thought I felt...never mind..." Shaking her head she turned back to Oliver and clung to his arm before following their daughter into the oh so familiar corridors.
The three finally made it to the Professor's office which hadn't changed in 15 years. The man had aged a little but he was still the same person she remembered. When they sat down Anna and Oliver talked about what they had been doing for the past few years, and how the Academy had changed, where their old friends were etc. Valon was actually teaching; it suited him, he was one of the cooler teachers, and Luke had moved away with one of the students from their year and was now a scientist trying to make advances on solar panels.
Finally they got to the reason they were there. Elly.
The Professor addressed her, looking at the fidgeting 11 year old sitting in the middle of Anna and Oliver. It would have been best if she showed him his power instead of explaining...since all the big words made her stutter.
"Just...be careful Elly, remember try to control it." Anna reached into her bag, pulled out a small wooden block and placed it on the table in front of the Professor.
The balding man waited patiently for the young girl to do something with the wooden block on the table.
Suddenly the little girl lifted both her hands and extended them out in front of her to the wooden block. It looked like she was concentrating hard on something. Then a thin white light came from her hands, hit the block straight on and the most amazing thing started happening. The wooden block began to disintegrate into nothing.
It was a slow process but it was disintegrating into nothing slowly... But Elly then lost control, the beam coming out of her hands went out of control and got bigger almost eating the cube in one blow. That's when Anna stepped in and pulled her hands to the side and clasped them closed. Elly seemed embarrassed that she couldn't control her powers but she was pretty proud she disintegrated the entire cube.n
"Mom tells me it's some n-neutron dis-disinti-gra-tion process." she said trying to sound smart. Hopefully the Professor was impressed.
((I'm sorry if this sucks! OTL))

((Don't worry, it's not stupid! xd ))
Xavier straightened a little when Elly lost control, but for the most part remained calm throughout the demonstration. He nodded thoughtfully at the empty space where, moments before, there had been a block of wood. "This is a strong power you possess, Elinor." He leaned slightly towards her, capturing her gaze with the intent look Oliver was so familiar with. "But you must understand that the stronger a power is, the more responsibility you have to keep that power under control. Carelessness will only lead to many people getting hurt. Do you understand me?"
Elly's satisfied smile slowly vanished, to be replaced with a determined frown. She nodded seriously. "Yeah, I get it. I don't want to disinty-grate a person by accident."
Oliver shared a look with Anna. It had come pretty close when her power first began to manifest itself; he remembered one incident in particular where Elly had been angry with her mother, and he had barely managed to pull her away from that disintegration beam in time. The faucet on the kitchen sink they could replace, but if Elly ever turned her power on other human beings, there would be no turning back.
"Exactly." Xavier smiled again. "And that is where the Academy, and myself, come in. Don't worry, Elinor. Many students have come through here with powers completely out of their control - and left this school with discipline, focus, mastery over themselves. There are many exciting things to learn here. I think you'll like it."
The excited smile curled her mouth up again, and Elly was practically bouncing on her seat while Xavier concluded the interview and handed over the key to her room. Oliver hesitated a moment when he stood up, wanting desperately to consult with the Professor about the slight return of his powers, but Anna was turning away and Elly was already at the door, so he merely smiled, shook the Professor's hand, and followed his family out of the office.
After they closed the door behind him, Xavier steepled his fingers and said to himself, "Hmm. Interesting."

((I was typing it with like 5 people in the hotel room all talking over me with music playing really loudly XD it was really hard to concentrate))
It was nostalgia all over again. Anna imagined herself sitting exactly where Elinor was more than 15 years ago, hearing a similar speech from the Professor the day he brought her to the institute. Of course her daughter’s powers were much more extravagant than being able to control the wind currents but still...with every great power came great responsibility. It wasn’t just some cliché line they threw into novels and films.
Even before he was her teacher the Professor began drilling the importance of control and carefulness into her mind. When they spoke of Elinor accidentally disintegrating a person by removing the nucleus in the structure of their DNA Anna and Oliver shot each other a glance at the exact same moment. Both were reminded of the time the two girls had a disagreement, Elinor throwing a tantrum and almost hitting Anna with the white beam that came out of her hands. If Oliver hadn’t pulled her away in time...well she didn’t want to think about that. Elinor was sorry enough for disintegrating the faucet, but when she realized she could have killed her mother she burst into tears; the argument just wasn’t worth the loss of a life.
When the interview concluded he handed Anna the room key, shook her hand, and let them go off to help Elinor settle. Just before they walked out Anna noticed Oliver wasn’t by her side. Turning back she waited for him by the threshold of the door with a light smile, “Coming?” she asked as he shook the Professor’s hand and followed his family out the door.
As they walked down the familiar halls Anna kept looking back and around her, acting all fidgety as if she was being watched. Well it was a school so she was probably being looked at from somewhere but this was different...It was like back in the old days when you had to be on your toes every time you took a step. I guess old habits die hard. But regardless, Anna couldn’t shake the feeling something was...following her.
Slipping the key into the door, Elinor pushed it open to find a wide open room with two bunk beds, one on each side of the room. It was like a pretty big dorm, just for four girls who were in class at the moment. Judging by the decor it seemed their ages ranged from Elly’s age to probably a freshman in their high school program. Anna was thankful her daughter would have roommates, she was far too young to be living alone and she needed company – especially if she was a budding hyperactive eleven year old. If she was anything like her father she’d need company, fast.
“So what do you think?” Anna asked as she walked towards one of the large windows and decided to prop it open. Elinor’s room overlooked one of the new green houses that were built, probably after she and Oliver left.
The older woman stood by the window and gazed out at the familiar scenery overlooking the horizon. She could feel the cool breeze flow over and around her, filling the room with fresh air. God how she secretly wished she could control the currents like she used to.

((Where should we end this? It feels like we're close to a conclusion to me.))
Elly twirled around in the middle of the room. "I love it!" she cried - as Oliver had known she would. She was prepared to enthusiastically embrace everything about the place.
Smiling, Oliver set down the suitcase he'd been carrying all this way next to the empty bottom bunk of one of the beds, next to the only small desk that wasn't filled with the inevitable clutter of a young girl. "Now, you work hard," he told his daughter. "And don't worry, we'll call you on Saturday, and before you know it, it'll be time to come home for break."
He wanted to say more, but with an explosion of excited giggles, the other occupants of the room crowded in and happily exclaimed, "It's the new girl!" They immediately started chattering, and Elly grinned around at them just as excitedly. The tallest girl suggested giving her a tour of the school, and the rest eagerly followed her. Elly was about to rush off with them, but remembered herself at the last minute and turned to give her parents a quick hug. "Bye Mom, bye Dad!"
And then she was gone. The happy sound of rushing feet faded away down the hallway, and they were alone and out of place. Oliver smiled wistfully at his wife and took her hand. Casting one last glance at the room that was now his daughter's new home, he turned and led the way slowly back downstairs. Oliver hadn't realized how quickly Elly had grown up. It seemed like just yesterday he was holding her for the first time. He remembered thinking at the time that after he had lost the power to cause plants to sprout up from the ground, he had been given the power to create human life. Elinor Harding was more amazing and wonderful than everything he had ever done with his powers.
As they stepped through the front door and started down the gravel walk, beginning to leave this old familiar world behind again, Oliver decided that it didn't matter if his powers were returning or not. Because he had lost them, he had been able to live a normal life with Anna and raise his beautiful daughter, a life he might never have known if he had been a mutant all along, fighting against Magneto and the ghosts of his past. And there was no greater joy, no greater contentment, no greater fulfillment than that.

It was hard to see her only daughter go, and at such a young age too. But Elly wasn’t really leaving; she was bettering herself and living amongst people who could really help her. Anna was sure after a week or two she’d be home sick for a while but that was natural, going home without her was probably going to be hard on the couple too. “Be good, and try not to give the Professors a hard time.” Elinor was definitely her father’s daughter, which meant she had a tendency to attract attention to herself like the little whirlwind she often was. Anna was sure in a control environment she’d be fine and learn to control her powers in no time.
Suddenly, the door to the room burst open as several girls of varying ages entered in a happy uproar. It seemed they were just as excited to meet Elly as she was to meet them. Getting off the window sill, Anna returned to Oliver’s side and put a hand around his waist, watching her run off to explore the school with the other girls. But just before she forgot herself, the eleven year old turned back to her parents and gave them a quick hug and ran off.
Both parents listened to the sound of shuffling feet across the hall before standing in silence. Anna felt Oliver slip his hand into hers, smiling and taking one last look around before ushering her out of the place they once called home.
It was hard leaving a place that was so familiar to her and yet no longer her home. In a way she was happy though, she’d be able to live through that time again when her daughter came home for vacation and told them stories of her adventures at the Institute. That happiness was enough, she was sure of it. Sure she missed her old life, but when she looked back and thought about the life she lived now, she wasn’t sure if she had the chance to go back she’d have it any other way. She loved Elinor, she grew to love her life as a simple human, and most of all she loved waking up with Oliver at her side. All these little things she now grew to love she probably wouldn’t have if the two had retained their powers.
As the two walked down the gravel path leading towards the gate, Anna felt that familiar soft breeze pass through her, and then suddenly stopped walking. That was the second time today she’d felt that presence...it couldn’t be an accident. “What is that...?” she muttered to herself as if looking at nothing. Her eyes went out of focus for a moment as if concentrating hard on something in the distance.
It was Oliver’s voice that brought her back from her daze. Shaking her head a second she had to clear her mind, “Sorry, I don’t know wha-“ as she turned back to him she saw something different, something she hadn’t seen in a long time. As faint as it was she knew it was there.
Lifting her free hand up to the level of her chest she held her palm open in front of him so they both could see. Anna’s eyes concentrated once again on something that wasn’t there...until at last they could see it. It was very faint, small and barely even there, but dancing in her palm was a small wisp of wind that swirled in the shape of a mini funnel. She was only able to hold it for a second or two before it disappeared, the air in her hand dissipating back into the winds as she closed her palm between them.
Looking up into her husband’s eyes Anna had a very faint smile on her face. Just like the wind that had swirled in her hand it was faint but it was still there. She was quiet for a moment, unsure what to do with this new information, wishing Oliver would say something to appease the silence the between them. Instead of words, Anna wrapped her arms around his neck and embraced him tightly, resting her head just against his neck and shoulder, whispering in his ear, “What now?”

Oliver turned in surprise when Anna stopped short. "What's up?" But even as she started to reply, her vision seemed to focus on something else, and she cupped her hands as if holding something in them. A slow suspicion began to creep into Oliver's mind as he watched, afraid to speak and break her concentration. It had been years since he'd seen her do anything like it, but the old memories stirred, and he began to wonder.... Then he noticed her eyes. They seemed to flicker for a moment, going between the deep color he had grown so used to, and a flat colorless gaze like someone long blind.
He held his breath until Anna dropped her hands with a sigh and looked up again. She was smiling ever so slightly, sad and hopeful at the same time. "You too?" he breathed. She looked surprised for a moment, then embraced him.
"What now?"
He hugged her back and rested his chin on top of her head. "We live on as we have," he said slowly. "This is a gift - our powers are returning, just slightly. I don't know if they'll ever be as strong as they used to be. But I don't think that matters anymore. We don't have to fight anymore. We can just live."
Oliver pulled away and looked down at Anna with a contented smile. This was all he had ever wanted. "Let's go home."
((...And that's the end, I guess o.o Wow. Thank you so much for this great roleplaying experience; this is the first rp I've ever finished, because you were the first person who actually was dedicated enough to stick with it for this long and not forget about it or lose interest after the first few months.
