I loved Jem and the Holograms , The Pirates Of Dark Water, THundercats, Voltron, The Gummi Bears, He Man and She Ra, and does anyone remember a show with all female warriors with gems on their armour called Golden Girls? No im not referring to the old lady show Golden girls yes it was a cartoon. They really just dont make them like they used to. I was born in 79 so i got to live to see many greats. lol

Old-school TMNT. Captain Planet. Smurfs. Tom & Jerry. Looney Tunes. Woody Woodpecker. Muppet Babies. Inspector Gadget. Tiny Toons. Gargoyles. Bonkers. Scooby-Doo. Rocky & Bullwinkle. Yogi Bear. Animaniacs. School House Rock. Garfield and Friends. Beetlejuice. Underdog. Flintstones. Jetsons. Chip n' Dale. Darkwing Duck. Roger Rabbit. Batman. Talespin. Alvin and the Chipmunks. David the Gnome. Carmen Sandiego. X-Men. The Justice League. Winnie the Pooh.
I'm sorry, but anyone who says they were crap, I have to ask: When were you born? That's the only reason I can think of for why someone wouldn't like them. Whoever says Samurai Jack was good, obviously must have low standards. And I won't say they were bad, but I never got into shows like: He-Man G.I. Joe Transformers ... simply because, hey! I'm a girl! At the age I was, most girls just didn't get into those shows.

I don't think Samurai Jack was too bad though I liked Powerpuff Girls a lot better. Anyways, I grew up w/ Jem and the Holograms, He-man and She-ra, Muppet Babies, Care Bares, Mighty Mouse, Police Academy (mom watched it), Ghost Busters, Beverly Hills Teens (why did I like that show?), Punky Brewster (yea I remember the cartoon), Alvin and the Chipmunks, Thunder Cats, Transformers, GI Joe, and some other shows I may be forgetting.

Nei1 I was talk to my friend about the subject and he said that there was cartoon show about the WWF wrestlers. I went on youtube and I found this: Yeah the show was great, it's where hulk hogan, randy macho man savage, captain lou albano, rowdy rony piper and all those others got real popular before wrestling was big on tv. I hear Hulk Hogan cam back. Anyway, anyone remeber Silver Hawks? Haven't seen that one mentioned yet. Oh and yes it was Rainbow Bright. There was also My little Pony and that one Strawberry Muffin one. Go-Bots as well (the cheap knock off of transformers) then there was Mask (with the transforming vehicles), UnderDog, King Arthur and the knights of the round table, the one with all the animals in the tree, I think I'll stop there.

Am I the only person who thinks the thin plots and lack of violence in 1980's children's "action shows" is a little boring? ^^;
EDIT: I used the wrong word.

Takarada Kaoru Am I the only person who doesn't think the thin plots and lack of violence in 1980's children's "action shows" is a little boring? ^^; I don't think much of 80's tv at all (cartoons or otherwise), but I grew up in the 70's. I liked a few things in the 90's (Batman TAS, Ren and Stimpy) but the 80's was pretty much a waste as far as I was concerned.

I liked a few things in the 90's (Batman TAS, Ren and Stimpy) but the 80's was pretty much a waste as far as I was concerned. I meant to ask if I was the only person who thought those shows WERE boring... ^^; I tried watching things like the 1980's TMNT show and the later Popeye cartoons and found them lacking both violence and story structure. The newer TMNT had a long-running story, more violence, and a better plot IMO. Tho I will in no way try to defend "Fast Forward". That is where I feel the show died. And I grew up in the late 1980's/1990's. I graduated in 2003. I do have fond feelings for the old TMNT, but I have a hard time watching it for reasons stated above.

A lot of 80s cartoons were pretty preachy, too, and I didn't always like the messages they were preaching. Even when I agreed, they always seemed to do something in the show which undermined their point.
That's why I liked Eek! The Cat so much.

I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKED THE GHOSTBUSTERS CARTOON. biggrin
There was one, this would be mid-to-late 80's, about a kid and his best/imaginary friend who was some kind of monster? Can't remember the name of it, damn. Maybe it's been mentioned already. The monster's name may have been Max? or I'm confabulating that memory with stuff that's been mentioned already.
I used to be OBSESSED with Inspector Gadget. My first pet was named Penny.
In the after-school/high school category, I totally used to watch Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and OMG did I love Gargoyles.
Of course, other than Animaniacs, which worked on a kid level AND a more adult level, I don't know that I'd enjoy any of those shows now.
I still enjoy Dexter's Laboratory, but then the first time I saw it was about 6 years ago... we used to watch it on the store's directTV when I worked at Blockbuster.

OMG, i loved the Ghostbusters! Care Bears, My Little Pony, Smurfs, Gummy Bears, Muppet Babies, Inspector Gadget, Powerpuff Girls, Alvin and the Chipmunks (I refuse to see the live movie they made just because it destroys a classic), Captain Planet, Scooby Doo (without Scrappy because he's just annoying), Loony Tunes, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck, Flintstones, Jetsons, Garfield and Friends, School House Rock (*sings* I'm just a bill. Yes, I'm only a bill. And I'm sittin' here on Capitol Hill), Beetlejuice (better than the movie), David the Gnome... wow, I watched a lot of TV as a kid!
