Cait laughed softly. "Yes, I do realize that. I'm just a curious sort, y'know? When i found out about this organization i leapt at the chance... It's all so fantastic it's sometimes still kinda hard to accept that I'm not dreaming. God, listen to me, I sound like a kid..."

"Yeah, yeah you do, how old are you anyway?" Kali was betting there wasn't much, or too much of an age gap, she use to be like this, it was kind of sickening in a way, to realize how much s**t she went through.

"24," she replied. "I've been with the organization for a couple years now."

inside the bar...

"Last call! Bottoms up, fellas."

The bartender was a burly man with a burly beard fanning over his chest, salt and pepper in the unruly red. Johnny was a bit envious of it. One by one, the other patrons finished their drinks and left or ordered one more for the road; a few paired up, but most of them were as solitary as he was. Johnny motioned for another shot and reached for his wallet...

Kali about had a heart attack on that, a guesstimated year, that was sad as hell, for Kali, not for chicky, she fell silent though, not too sure what else to say.

As the desolate dregs began trickling out of the bar, Caitlin took a deep breath. as she let it out slowly, she relaxed her body until she was completely motionless, able to be passed by within a few feet and remain unnoticed. She softly spoke to her fellow watcher.

"Not to be rude, but now might be a good time to scram. This guy's sure to notice two people watching him, no matter how drunk he's gotten. See you round?"

Kali gave a snort, recovering quickly enough, "Now that I highly doubt." Her answered has to be to the last little part, but then it made sense in the long run, she didn't often go playing with other watchers. "Don't do anything I'd do." With a hint of a smile she stalked off, she was a night owl, between normally working at this hour and just not liking sleep she'd find something to do no doubt.

Damn, did the air have this kind of bite to it when I came in here, Johnny thought to himself as he stepped out, cigarette already in the process of being lit. He barely glanced around before stepping off, intuitively heading home even though his downcast eyes were preoccupied with ghosts.

Across the street, Caitlin waited for him to get about half a block ahead before fluidly standing. She crossed the street just as smoothly and carefully matched her pace to his. Ahead, Johnny rounded a corner. Cait quickened her pace just a little bit, but he shouldn't be turning any more corners very immediately, she knew...

She rounded the same corner, and blinked in amazement at just how empty the street was. He couldn't have just disappeared... could he? Caitlin proceeded cautiously a few steps forward, then thought better of it as something was tickling the back of her mind... no, something definitely didn't feel right. She about-faced and stopped dead in her tracks as Johnny stepped out from a darkened doorway she had passed just a moment before... How had she missed him?

The tall man approached her with his sword drawn and resting deceptively nonchalant across his shoulder. Caitlin started to run, but before she could take half a step, he had her pinned to the ground flat on her face, the sword's point digging a shallow crater in the concrete mere fractions of an inch away from her eyes...

Now see, she was glad she followed anyway, with a sigh she stepped into a patch of light, "Now, now sweet-cakes, if that a way to treat a lady? I didn't know people used swords now days though, but could ya let me friend up?" Oh she could do this whole lieing though her teeth thing, which was what she was planning on doing if Caitlin didn't ******** it up. Kali wasn't sure why she had stuck around, boredom, the thought something was going to happen, the fact she hated having nothing to do, a mix of a lot more things she didn't want to think about, didn't matter really.

"Oh, I think the lady and I have some business of our own. Or at least, she seems interested enough in my business," Johnny replied without removing his eyes from Caitlin's face. But then he paused, cocked his head and licked his lips... licked his lips again and his nostrils flared...

He leaned in closer and took a good long look into Cait's terrified, speechless face. He noticed the tattoo on her wrist and began laughing... His laugh escalated as he rose smoothly and disappeared down an alley, sauntering off and laughing still louder, his sword at the comfortable perch it was in before Caitlin tried to run.

As he disappeared into the night, his enthusiastic laughter was a cacophony in the otherwise quiescent night, echoing, resounding off the shuttered storefronts, looming warehouses, abandoned parking garages with rusty padlocks on the gate... He took the chance of returning home to grab the few things he had arrived with.

It was the last time he was seen in Seacouver. In fact, to the end of her mortal days Caitlin never laid eyes on him again. A Black '05 Jaguar was reported stolen later that night, but the two incidents were never connected to each other.

Caitlin Murphy looked up at her savior through vomit-laden hair and wondered what the hell had actually just happened.

Kali had to remain silent a good minute or more, simply because anything she said was going to be rude as hell to the girl, yes girl, age didn't matter really, not after what she just saw. She hid her emotions behind her normal mask of minor annoyance before saying anything at all, "Come on, get up now." She'd at lest escort Caitlin home or somewhere safer, in the neighborhood they were in she'd stand out as a victim this time of night, where as Kali was use to worse. She had the bad tendency to wander around the less then even remotely safe places, they amused her. "He's nicer then some, others would have put the sword through the back of your head and been done with it."

Caitlin nodded quickly and staggered to her feet, stammering the lord's prayer under her breath as she gathered her wits, taking slow deep breaths... calmer, she reached for her cigarettes... they were usually only for her morning cup of coffee, but this was a special case...

"Th-that nutter looked at me like... like he knew me. What was so ******** funny," Cait sneered in the direction he had disappeared... the memory of his laughter still hung in her memory so she'd never forget the sound.

"s**t, Joe's gonna be pissed."

"That would be because he knows, you nim-wit." Now she snapped slightly colder, things were starting to get more dangrous around the city given far to many immortals knew about watchers for her comfort, "At lest for once he won't be angry at me, trying working for him and him being annoyed, now come on, the drunk people are going to start looking entertainment now that the bars are closed, and that could be you."

"y-yeah, you're right..."

Caitlin finally managed to light her cigarette and took a deep drag as she stepped back the way she had come. Her car... s**t. Her car was still parked down the street from Johnny's ******** it," she muttered, far more foul-mouthed than usual. "Hey, you got a car, or should we call a taxi? I don't feel like walking anymore. That b*****d walks everywhere."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 22, 2007 4:24 am
She actually snorted trying to not laugh at the chick cursing, "My car's about fourteen blocks from here." Which was normal for her, okay so she was in five inch heels, still normal, she always parked somewhere safe and wandered, normally to barhop, besides with gas prices, yeah, walking suited her just fine. With a smirk she made a off-hand comment before turning to leave. "You really shouldn't smoke, it's not healthy ya know." This from the woman that went through about a pack a day, yeah, she was working on cutting back though at lest.

"Yeah, I know it," Cait replied, "but everything else I do is healthy enough so I don't really sweat the one or two a day habit i've got." She shrugged her jacket closer and stepped out. "Lead on."
