*Jumps into the copilot seat and scans the incoming vessel* I've never seen that configuration before and it is heavily armed! Scans show that it is indeed created out of a mix of technologies and not only that but that most of the ship is scavenged parts from other derelict vessels it is unlikely to be from any of the known alpha quadrant powers. I recommend that we raise shields and prepare for combat but hail them first we do not know what their intentions are.

R'Ukannak raises the sheilds, which, luckily, have been modified by herself to adapt to different weapons and absorb energy from them. Unfortunately, they have not been tested.

''I can re-route power to the main sheilds if my modified ones do not withstand the possible attack.''

She wipes a bead of sweat off her brow.

''Channel Open, all known frequencies. I have also readied a distress call to Starfleet, which can be sent in the event of an attack.''

She waited impatiently for the unknown ship to reply.

''They are scanning us.''

The ship rocked as a warning shot landed just off the port bow.

''Unidentified Vessel, we do not want a confrontation. We are from the United Federation of Planets on a mission of great personal and scientific importance. I repeat, WE ARE ON A PEACEFUL MISSION''

The alien, which she had never come across before, was not responding. Just watching.
