This whole "emo" thing is so annoying. It's like My Chemical Romance are the number one "emo" band. What the hell? "Emo" isn't even a genre of music! It means emotional! I mean....come on. This whole "emo" thing is bullshit.

This whole "emo" thing is bullshit. actually, emo - the genre of music was emotive rock. and if you're going by that, yes, mcr is emo. but the way everyone talks about it now, i honestly dont know what it means, and i really dont think that mcr is what emo is defined now

Bottom line mcr is NOT emo oh really? i haven't heard that before i was just going by this definition Emotive Rock (ee mo-tiv): emotionally motivated rock, with elements of sudden time changes and sporatic emotions, from sings to screams, from mellow to sudden heavier melodies.

Emo died in the mid 90's.
Therefore MCR are not emo.
Emo is a little more messy than MCR.
Like, screaming (not throat, but like, yelling) not really that many piches.
Lots of rhythmic guitars.
Bands such as Rites of Spring, Gray Matter. And emo influenced bands such as the Get Up Kids.

"Emo" stands for emotional hardcore....If u think MCR is emo then you are saying that they're a hardcore emotional band...This goes out to everyone who thinks they're emo...I think that is a personal opinion. Some say they're emo and some say they're not. So really its up to you to say if they're emo or not.

Does it matter whether they're emo or not? The point is, that if My Chemical Romance is a fantastically talented band, they have achieved a great amount of fame because they are so talented, so I don't see why it matters what genre of music they're classified under.
