You, my friend, have just stumbled upon the reason that I wade knee-deep through terrible fanfiction everynight--corporate greed has no effect on the material of fanfiction. So about once a night, after suffering through the worst crap imaginable, I'll find a really great author with something new to say. And it makes my day every time. heart

When you get pass the yaoi and their very unoriginal relationships, you begin to realize that even relationships in real life are the same. People hate each other and get thrown together, or so we hope to believe. sweatdrop Someone attempts to ask the other out and fails ever so miserably or they blurt out a loud "I love you" in anger. Sadly, I have seen all this happen not only in yaoi's but also real life. When it gets down to it originality is hard to come by, though they are a couple yaoi's that skim the line of nearly being original. XD Myself was pretty original in my eyes, much angst though. -sigh- much much angst. We just love our angst! XD

Originality is hard to come by really....espially now a days....>.>;;; But that formula fits with pretty much every relationship manga/anime/movie/whatever neutral And there are some good ones that have that kind of "formula" and are so well written we forget about the over-used-relationship-plot. Besides everytime a new idea sprouts there are a million weeds that sap it up and use it over and over till that becomes over used as well...>.>;

One word: Notpia. I'd preach it from the rooftops. It's a little different in a gore, blood, death, head trip, WHAT THE HELL kind of way. And if you're in to angst which subtly rapes your mind, then there's Bannin. Well, chapter one. I didn't bother with the rest.
But yeah, that's why I mostly don't associate myself with the yaoi fanbase. I always get caught up in a horde of screaming Japanese-abusing fangirls who wouldn't know originality if it walked right up to them and kissed them on the mouth.

Some of those that burn crosses . . . Hahahaha. Virtually all love stories are predictable like that. I just don't mind it as much in yaoi/yuri. Nothing is original anymore. I try not to let it bother me. . . .
a re the same that hold office.

Even if something isn't very original, it could still be great. The way the characters are, the way it progresses, and the very ending makes a wonderful story. e.e;
I've read a few good ones that don't follow that formula exactly... <<; But it's still basically meet a guy, fall in love, live happily ever after. Conflict all around before the ending.
This one called Innocent Blue was full of angst and made me cry a ton, but I also thought it was wonderful. And another one Yume wo Miru Hima mo Nai... >>;; was good too. Under Grand Hotel was a little twisted, though I never read the ending. And Renai Houteishiki was another one I found different. There was a lot of like and uncertainty. And not sure if Chintsubu is hilarious. Not sure if that one's out of that formula, but I've never seen anything like it. xD

There are cliches in every genre, mind. At some point, I care no longer about the cliches as long as I get my yaoi dose. And yet when I'm writing yaoi I steer very clear from cliches, but I don't mind reading it when other people do it. O_O

Kitsune-chi One thing I've always disliked about BL/Yaoi is the lack of subtlety. It just seems to be: -Boy meets boy. -One boy inexplicably falls in love with said boy. -Angst, (AKA the OMG-how-can-I-be-gay-period or the ever popular he-could-never-like-me-trial, or the Grr-I-hate-him-but-inside-I-don't tangent.) -Misunderstanding, or intrusion from former friend/girlfriend/boyfriend. Ohnoez, conflict. >_> -ANGST. -ANGST. -ANGST. -Teary love confession post misunderstanding -Sex and/or loving/hot make-out scene. -The End. Er. Yeah, that's great and all, but only after the first FIFTY TIMES YOU SEE IT. I'm sorry, but I'd like to see something... different. Maybe they don't end up together in the end. Maybe the guy actually ends up falling for somebody else. Not once in all of Yaoi manga have I seen a main protaganist man fall in love with a man, but then meet a different man who ends up being better for him later on. You see it all the time in het manga, anyway. And hell, maybe their feelings DON'T have to be completely hidden until the end, either. Ever think of that? In real life, one usually has an inkling of the feelings one has for another, and while they're reciprocated, neither does anything about it for a bit. Or, one character is aware of the other's feelings, quite obviously so, but isn't sure what to do. That's one of the reasons I loved Fake. There was never a straight answer given out right till the end. So tell me. What is a series you found broke from the norm and wasn't afraid to be unique? Discuss~ HAha XD That's so true! But even if I have read those kinds of fanfics at least a hundred times, I end up drowning in my own tears anyway. ^^'

Mhm. I think this is the problem with most of the books in the yaoi genre, since basically, it seems to be that they use the same pattern over and over again. It's hot, yeah, but sometimes, I say... "Wait... Isn't this the same as that other one?"
Repetitive? Yeah. Redundant? Yeah. The rest is pretty much up to the reader's tolerance of such cliches.

I believe one was Ezai(that might be it) its a hard yaoi and same with sensitive pornograph. But then again they were pretty hard yaois. But Ezai was basically about a kid that was accused of a murder and was sent to prison and was raped there was no general couple at least i never really saw one. Sensitive Pornograph well the name speaks for itself theres only a OVA from what i've looked for so there isn't much of a plot but i don't think that it was the general. But that's my opinion

I get a bit tired of the typical fall in love right away yadayada same old thing. I enjoy when theres a bit of angsty goodness and the relationships build up gradually with a few major events happening throughout :3

That's why I read fanfiction. Most of it's unorginaly crap, but there are a few gems hidden away if you look hard enough.
