I'm Catholic...an extremely liberal one though. I go to Church maybe once a year...

Hehe, reminds me of what my mother calls "CEO Catholics" (Christmas Easter Only)
In any case, I would recommend going a bit more often - mass helps me to ease up for the coming week.

I just...don't like Church. I don't even go for Christmas or Easter. Only if someone is getting married or there's a funeral. Otherwise the priest starts making me angry. The thing is though, when I was little I used to LOVE Church...I was in the Church plays, read for mass and was an alter server...It seems weird now.

Well, why does the priest make you angry? Is he one of the "if you're not like this yer a-gunna go-ta hey-ell" types?

Yes he is! The last time I went to Church (for my brother's Confirmation) he just stared at me. Then he went onto the spiel about how we're all damned and going to hell...while looking at me. I know that not all priests are like that, but the ones around here are the 'Hell and Damnation no matter what' type.

Sorry to hear that... the priest at my church has a pretty good sense of humor.
But it's mostly the "Hell and Damnation no matter what" types that get all of the attention. If only they could get some "hey, relax, God loves us all" lessons from my priest...

I'm not a catholic, but I've been going to catholic mass every saturday for about nine monthes now. There is little hope of me attending forever or becoming confirmed as a catholic, but I enjoy it for now. I go mainly because my boyfriend's family is catholic and he doesn't have a choice but to go, and so I go with him. Other than that, I go to a vineyard church with my family.

I wasn't raised Catholic, but my mother was. I think I picked some of it up from her. So while I don't agree with everything the Catholic Church teaches, I'm attracted to the ritual and I love a lot of the music.

i'm sorry but cathoism is just a really freaked up religion with a horrible history its those kinda things that make me feel great to be protestant then i think to my self what the hect Protastants learned everything they know from catholics but spun it a bit OH CRAP
so i end in most modern religions are built on crap but its always good to have a belief system it allow one to maintain sanity in an unstable world

I used to be a Catholic... untill I went to Catholic School. xp

Religious celibacy needs to be against the law. Aside from it turning people into total hypocrite's, and short tempered assholes who hit children with rulers while trying to instill the fear of God in them, there'd be alot less ***** priests in the world.

I went to a catholic school and it never did me any harm, as far as i'm concerned it turned me into the conscientious and respectful student that I am today, so for that I will always be grateful. I wouldn't be doing half as well at school as I am now if i hadn't gone to St. Martins RC Primary School.

Im a catholic but I haven't gone to church in awhile.

Same here. I also don't agree with most of their teachings, which a lot of people seem to do.

I went to Catholic scool for a while and they didn't really do that. I didn't like the school because of the people but it wasn't abusive.

As for the celibacy thing, I agree with others who have said that priests should be allowed to get married so they can have better experinence with people. hey should also allow women to become priests or at least let the nuns say mass.

Baptised into Catholicism, descended on mom's side from a line of Jews who hid their identity to avoid persecution in Portugal, and I claim Islam. Complicated enough? xd
