I wrote a bit about the incident on Monday in another thread. Rather than posting it again, I'll give you the link. Asian Americans and the Virginia Tech IncidentIt's sad that people are using such a horrible event as an excuse to attack Asian Americans.

_xxchrissiexx_ i read on aol that it was a chinese guy. that freaks me out cause im chinese. umm.. isn't he south korean? anyways... i think the guy had real serious issues and that he didn't want to make contact with anybody. Plus during my history class we were disscussing about how the district can make the school better in case stuff like that happends again. plus this kinda reminds me of the columbine shooting except this one only had one guy doing the shooting and only had about 32 ppl killed instead of hundreds of students killed. But still... it's a very tragic event.

Yes, he is South Korean.
The Chinese guy who was arrested was the reporter for the Virginia Tech newspaper. He was later released.

yea... i guess we spent the whole class period disscuss the incident then w/ 15 min left to spare... we ended up watching saving private ryan. lol but wat the class came up with were metal detectors, tazer gun for the security gard( <-- that's probablly spelled wrong...<.< o well) which the class thought was funny. and other stuff that i kinda forgot. but i have the class like really really early in the morning so some of the stuff were kinda blurry during the time.

So...according to some of the metaphorical clues in Cho's English play writings, he must've been abused by his father when he was young, and also abused by his teacher when he was in highschool or sometime in college.
Pretty much an outcast, I guess. confused I can't believe her never uttered a single word during his whole time there at the university. o_O;;

i heard that he an issue with a girl which was probably his gf or something like that caused him to go out of control along w/ his couselor. it was something like that. i think. still not so sure.

Ugh, it's truly awful! I can't believe it happened though. It's quite scary and all that. In my school, the flag is at half- mast, but that's understandable.

Wow, when I heard about what happened I was all "OMFG"...
No joke...
I was so into it, watching about it on the news and reading in the paper...
Yet another shooting incident in a school...
And one even more tragic...
But what hit me the hardest was not just the fact that the shooter was Asian...
But what it made other people think...
Me and my friends were eating at a restaurant...
And there were a group of people there that were my age and not Asian...
From what I heard, they were talking about what had happened...
But what hit me so hard was what they said in their conversation...
"Are all Asians really as disturbed like that shooter guy?"...
Me and my friends were just shocked when we heard that...
I'm just afraid that since the killer was Asian...
People will start being influenced into thinking that all Asians are like him...
That all Asians are disturbed, troubled, and will become killers...
Another thing that really offended me was what I heard on the news...
They said that Cho was...disturbed and troubled...
*Cough*Sorry for over-using those terms...
And that it was evident through his writings and the way he acted...
They said that his stories and other writings were disturbing and messed up...
What offended me about that is the fact that my stories are most likely "disturbing" for other people...
Just because I enjoy writing about certain things, do I need councelling?...
My friends write stories just like me...
Lots of times teachers had to talk to me about my writing and poetry...
Will I be surveillanced closer than others because of that?...
Will I be forced into councelling?...
Will I be accused of wanting to do what Cho did?...
Or worse yet, will many other people like me be penalized?...
It just angers me that people are or might be taking all of this wrong...
That people will think wrongly about Asians just because of one person...
Asians already have hundreds of stereotypes...
Being though of as disturbed, suicidal killers shouldn't be added to that list...
*Cough*Sorry, I just really needed to speak my mind here...
If I accidentally offended someone please inform me...
I have no intention of causing a civil war >.<...

i was pretty shocked when i heard about it. it was all over the news when i woke up!
the guy must of been pretty upset and mad to do such a thing.
i feel sorry for him at the same time too.
but why would he start something like that?! especially towards some of the Colleges.
after that happened, most of the schools over where i live are cautious and security is probably gonna be pretty tight around the schools. i heard UC Berkeley did something to their campus after they heard about the Virginia tech?
and since i`m on Spring break, there`s gonna be a lot to talk about when we get back.

He seemed somewhat unstable, mentally...His works are quite appalling, and it does seem like some past experience induced him to write as he had.
Interestingly enough, nothing about this event was mentioned by any administrator or teacher, and only three of my friends and I really discussed it. But, then again, by 'discussing', they were joking about how one of them, Korean, would be unable to attend college because of this.
I hardly think this is a joking matter...

This is so stupid. It is a disgrace. I bet we will be looked down upon now. It's totally not fair. crying my whole class was like how can we do this. we dont do these kinds of thinks becauz we noe it is stupid. i just dont noe what to say crying stare that guy is a disgrace.

i remember when they first said the shooter was asian, i was like "O______O OMG YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!?!"
i kept asking my mom why he had to be asian and then after a couple of minutes she started to ignore me cause i was going hysterical.
