Karaoke

popular in my family. every family party the adults sing oldies while the kids (meaning me, my brother, and my cousins) watch until they tell us to sing, and in that case we sing more current songs.

it's quite a common thing with young people nowadays (we're Chinese)

It always happens with my culture as well.
Whenever, wherever there's a party, a karaoke is busted out of the widescreen tv; and tons of my relatives and friends are singing...including me.
Haha.

So basically, it is an ASIAN THING.

Hmm.. well my parents are like that I suppose. But not with relatives-- maybe their friends.

My dad is a stiff and sort of anti-social guy.. so I can't imagine him even attempting to sing, although he does prod his friends into singing instead. My mom, on the other hand is an attention whore.. (not that I mean she's a.. ahh, I mean.. she likes being in the limelight..) So she likes taking the mic and singing.

Speaking of which, my friends and I are going karaoke tonight after their graduation. (I still have two more subjects to go before I can..) And so, drink Soju we will and sing the night away..! Kakakaka.. (Note: I'm not Korean-- imma Chinese, but one of my friends are and she's bringing the Soju.)

Well karaoke is really popular in the phillipines, in fact there are nights where you can hear bad karaoke singing at your neigbors and there are lots of karaoke bars in the streets too!

That always happens in my family. All the adults will be down stairs doing vietnamese karaoke and like drinking while I'm up stairs with every non-adult trying to drown out the sound of bad karaoke. When I try to go down stairs for like a drink My mom(who is probably drunk by now) always trys to get me to sing karaoke with her.

My parents love K too. But they don't sing though. They just watch. Especially like old songs. My mom would hum and sing quietly to the Vietnamese one. And my dad would just listen to the old chinese songs.
