No way in hell would I let my kids go to a concert when they're thirteen. Sixteen maybe but before then it's just to dangerous. Even if they were good the entire time, stayed away from the moshing there are always other things, or people that could hurt them.
Not to mention that it is quite easy to get seperated from your group during a concert and I wouldn't trust a 13 yr old to react well in that senario.

Yes. I'm 13 now and going [hopefully] to the concert in Feb. with my Mom. As long as there is an adult with him/her it's okay. But I wouldn't go by myself, can't trust the people around you ninja .

I think that they'd be fine with supervision.

inuyashas_lilgirl It depends on their maturity. The first Rock Concert I went to was when I was 12. smile
If the 13 year old was with a supervisor then of course. Girls seem to mature faster than guys... So I would more of prefer the supervisor to be female. xD
I mean, I definately wouldnt let my 13 year old go alone...but supervised sure. When I first went i was with my 17 year old sister, and everything went fine. =]
So yeah, it depends on how trustful and mature the person is . ^ I agree with pretty much everything you just said
I went to my first concert a few months ago for my friend's 14th birthday and it was awesome. However, there were probably only about 6-7 other kids our age actually there. The rest were a few high school but mainly college. Things got a little rough and yeah, there was moshing, but the moshing doesn't get you hurt unless you actually get into the pit, which goes along with my "it's impossible to avoid mosh pits, but it's incredibly easy to stay out of them" theory. The only thing I think you'd have to worry about is height. I'm not that much over like, 5'2, and stuff like crushing and crowd surfing was an issue at first, but you'd be surprised how quickly we kids can adapt.
Really, the whole thing is a question of maturity. I personally think my maturity is a lot more advanced than my age, though by believing that, it may just drop me down a few years. Some kids might be sixteen and completely unprepared for a concert, while an 11-year old might already have the mentality and maturity to pull it off greatly. That's really what it comes down to.
And an adult is a must. Not meant to scare you, but... it's just common sense.
BTW, what type of venue is it? Like, arena or more club-type?

I'm 13 and I wish I could go to concerts. But my parents blab on about safety and 'stranger danger rolleyes '
But I guess if I was in their shoes I won't lallow myself without supervision.
But then again, when you think about it...your age is just a number =/
But I really wish I could go, I mean my friends are 12 and yet they're allowed...I really don't see why I can't...besides the fact that my parents are a little protective.

I'm 15 and I had a hard enough time getting my parents to let me go and see MCR, even harder once they realised that MCR were 'those' guys from 'that' video. I've been to concerts before but not good ones (Sounds terrible I know but seriously, they were at a camp I was at and they were terrible... like... Guy Sebastian and Sophie Monk or something *runs off to puke*) So this one coming up is my first serious concert I'm going with my friend and we fully intend to scream our freakin heads off but... in saying this I think 13 may be a little young... unless they're going in a big group or with an older chaperone.

Say their father was taking them and their best friend of the same age, as well as a few other girls one year older, and obviously, no mosh-pit.
Though I have taken in all of the advice you lot have given. Thanks much.

I would let em go. I went to my first concert when I was seven. Then when I was a freshmen in high school I went to my first Warped tour.

I would let a 13-year old go (with supervision, of course). But whoever's supervising should keep an eye on them at all times. There can be some pretty perverted people at concerts.

As long as he/she is supervised, yes. Keeping in mind that MCR is generally for a mature audience, theres some profanities... if the 13 year old happen to be very mature then by all mean, go and rock out.

I went to my first ACTUAL concert at 12 years old -- Avril Lavigne. Before that I went to a Jewel concert on the lawn of a near by Recreation center -- I believe I was about 8.
The band members of MCR are now mature, they used to feel themselves at concerts but they stopped. I voted yes. But they should DEFINATELY be supervised! You want the kid to be safe...
I just turned 14 on November 10th.
