You know, I never really thought about it. I always assumed it was a gun. However, I think I agree with the alchohol theory.

inuyashas_lilgirl .Swiim. give me a shot to remember, and you can take all the pain away form me... well seeing as gerard was an alcoholic, and alcohol temporarily makes emotional pain go away, i think he's talking about a shot of alcohol. The more important thing is its that its a song, and each person should decipher there own meaning from the lyrics. 3nodding ..You just copied my exact statement. stare xp
sorry i didn't mean too....

I'm gonna rule out the bullet theory, because bullets don't make you remember anything.
And also the alcohol theory; if anything, alcohol makes you FORGETFUL. You'll wake up the next morning and be like 'wtf?'
I'm going to go with the needle, because there's a type of medicine that can be injected into the bloodstream that travels to the brain, triggering memory.

Ha. I take it back. Alcohol would make sense.
The Sharpest Lives is about Gerard and Bert's habitual drinking and partying. (past tense)

inuyashas_lilgirl Well, the next sentence is "And you can take all the pain away from me" which would have to do with alchohol, since it temporarily "numbs" emotional pain...
Well, on the bullet/gun theory I figured that he was saying "you can shoot me and fix the hurt"-type-thing.

For some reason, I've always associated it with heroine (that is in a needle, isn't it?) I don't really think it has any connection with the band or the song, but that's just what I always think of. confused Probably because I thought of an entire music video for the song (along with the rest of the album) in my head.

I figured it was alcohol, not some kind of injectable drug. What with Gerard being deathly afraid of needles and whatnot.

I think "to remember" doesn't mean "in order to remember". I think that it means a large amount of medications/drugs (in the needle case) or a large amount of or extremely hard liquor (in the alcohol case) or a shot that would end his life (in the case of a gun). I think it means a really substantial amount that would make it stand out from other shots.

I wouldn't think it would be a needle because the song is titled, "The Sharpest Lives", which refers to Gerard's and Bert's partying back in the day. I think it's alcohol because I think of the song as a warning to not party so ecxessively because it says, "the sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead."
