xxDoll Facexx So I started liking MCR February 18th of last year. I instantly fell in love with their first two albums. Soon I began to notice their growing popularity, and also the growing lack of respect for MCR fans.
When I mention MCR is my favorite band, I get put down quite a bit. Either because MCR 'sucks' or because they're mainstream. Sometimes I even get called a wannabe 12 year old goth. Nobody looks past me, except for that fact, that lingering fact over my head; I love My Chemical Romance.
I have a load of respect for everyone in this universe. There are bands out there who could use improvement on their sound, but I never confront their number one fan and tell them they suck hardcore.
No band, who is willing to put their music out there and get criticized, sucks. Not one.
And what's even worse about the whole 'MCR sucks' social deal, is that people who say that, really have no idea what they're talking about.
Let me say, I believe Gerard is the smartest man alive, no joke. Even if MCR wasn't my favorite band. I remember when they weren't, and I saw him being interviewed, I said to myself, 'I wish that guy was my big brother.' And I still say that, to this day.
The music is beautiful. The lyrics are heart wrenching and everyone can relate to at least one of their songs. And they give it their all, just because there are people who need them.
I'll bet you, if MCR wasn't on the cover of every rock magazine every month, nobody would give a s**t. People are getting sick of MCR, they're getting overplayed on the radio, on MTV, on music video channels, and I'm even getting sick to the point where I stopped watching TV and listening to the radio because of it. They're getting TOO much publicity.
There are very few TRUE-TO-HEART My Chemical Romance fans. I know some of them. I love every one of you in this guild who understands what I go through just because I'm dedicated to their music, and even those of you who just started listening, I know you feel something about them that we all feel.
Discuss: MCR bashings, express yourselves. Please be respectful! You pretty much summed it all up. I could not have said it better myself.

ferris_wheel_ablaze I'm really not with you anymore
The thing of it is, there's ALWAYS going to be that one person who hates your band. That's just life. The problem with MCR is that there are millions of fans out there and for every fan, there are about 2 haters. It's the true fans that stick with the music no matter what.
@ Simmi-chan- Thanks! When I saw the picture, I burst out laughing. Gerard certainly has skeleton skills.
I'm just a G H O S T. Your sig pretty much pwns. On to topic. Any band/singer/musician/whatever no matter how big or small they are are always gonna have the haters and the true fans. Thats just the way the world works. Not every single person is going to like the same thing. In saying that there's always gonna be assholes who mock you for liking something. Whenever some says something like that (to quote Gerard. On something completely different than it's origial context) "Just tell them to ******** off and spit in their face."(Not an exact quote but I'm going off memory). That might be a little overboard but could be fun. xd I've just learnt to live with it. Everyone has their own opinion, some are just assy enough to use their's to put you down.

No one's ever called me names for liking MCR. But there are a lack of real fans at my school to talk with. Sure, some of my punk friends are all "yeah, My Chem is pretty cool, I like so-and-so's song" But none of them want to talk a lot about them (well, maybe one).
Then there are the teenie kids who all they want to talk about is how hot Gerard's new hair is.
And that girl who thought PETE WENTZ was in MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. gonk
But as thry get popular it's just like "Hey, more fans!" I'm gonna support my band, even if they're all mainstream. smile

[-Maegan-] ferris_wheel_ablaze I'm really not with you anymore
I think the main thing is that you have to be true to your love of the band. You can't let people get you down. There will always be people ready to tell you how awful they think they are and it may get you down but you have to move past it. MCR themselves rise above it everyday and they expect their fans to do the same.
I'm just a G H O S T. I could not have said it better myself. 3nodding

I'm in the whole industrial "scene" if you would call it, and when they hear that MCR is one of my favorite bands they just say "OMG MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE IS SUCH A CRAPPY BAND" my messenger bag is from MCR I know their albums by heart. I just say so what????? I like them, they make me smile. People don't appreciate them, they are posers because they are selling, because gerard isn't a fat guy with tattoos, I love MCR I would LOVEEEEE to marry Gerard (don't tell my boyfriend lol) but every fan knows this. When you listen to Gerard sing and listen to the lyrics you go to another place, if you feel down they pick you up. I'm not emo, i'm not punk, i'm just plain weird. And happy.

Hmmm.
I've never been ragged on for my taste in music (except being told I ******** suck for liking Fort Minor), but I have been around a lot of people who openly complain about how 's**t' MCR is. I used to complain and try to stick up for them, but now I just kind of say, "so what?" Y'know, just stick a finger up to it all and say, "it doesn't matter if you think it's good or bad because I like it."
But then, I'd be a bit of a hyppocrite, I complain about how s**t Fall Out Boy is (Read: IN MY OPINION) all the time. But I generally only do that with friends or people I who I know don't like them. I think other people should have that same respect for me. Don't just come up to me out of the blue and tell me I suck. WTF? Who are you?

I don't really get ragged on, but there are a few people in my school who are just plain ignorant.
eg. "Ignorant person: Are you an emo? Me: Would you please jump off a cliff. Ignorant person: Are you a goff? Me: burning_eyes Ignorant person: What are you then!? Me: I'm not going to label myself. Ignorant person: Emo's are depressing. Me: Please stop talking. Ignorant person: Do you like that black Parade band? Me: Excuse me? Ignorant person: Y'know, Welcome to the parade? They sing it. Me: My Chemical Romance, you mean. Ignorant person: Yer, them. Do you like them? Me: They're my favourite band. Ignorant person: OMG EMO! -turns away-"
I don't mind if people don't like them, people have different music tastes, but you don't need to say it to a fan, because it's really disrespectful. +As for the people who rag on the MEMBERS that's really a different story, because they've all worked very hard to get where they are today, especially Gerard, overcoming his addictions and such.
And I don't care if they're mainstream either, they're still amazing.

Whenever I wear my MCR shirt my one friend says she hates their songs. I've let it slide a couple times, but next time she says it, I seriously will have to shut her up.

Beloved Aurora Don't let it bother you. MCR will get more and more popular... but always remember that it is the music that counts. It is the music that is what you always can hold onto. inuyashas_lilgirl No matter how many people are against you, you'll always have others with you, to support you and cheer you on.
Just don't let people tear you down. You have your opinions, and people have theirs, opinions never make you a bad person.
Words to remember.

I hate MCR bashings, especially the ones that say they're just like other mainstream, they've never had rough times, or their music's all show, OR even worse, that they think they're better than everyone else. Well let's see, Gerard and Mikey both suffer from depression, Gerard overcame a serious addiction to drink and drugs, the boys love comic books and horror movies, Gerard's an amazingly talented artist, Frank and Ray have both been injured in concerts, they're close to their families(that part in LOTMS was so cute when Mrs. Way wouldn't look at the camera and Gerard's just like "Mom" and smiles) they appreciate every moment(like Gerard said, they're living their dreams), and there is so much more going on there. Nothing like your stereotypical pop-rock band-of-the-month. They started out broke in basements and worked hard to get where they are today. And they're not full of themselves, or cruel, or thinking that they're better than everybody else. People who mindlessly bash them don't know any of this stuff. In my opinion the guys are still the hard-working, humble, lovably geeky(interest-wise, not looks-wise) guys they've always been, only stronger and closer than before. Their music connects to people because of its raw energy. Sure, the lyrics may not be perfect poetry, but they appeal to people because of their simple messages and the way the words just fit together ("So long and goodnight...*sigh...happiness*") I've never had the pleasure of meeting them, but from what I've seen, they look like just a bunch of guys who are fun to be with, and they're so darn CUTE(Bob:Oh Gerard, Gerard you make my heart burn!)! Sorry if I'm rambling, and I know I mentioned Gerard alot but I'm just writing this on the spot with no references, but I guess I'm just saying, I wish people would get to know and understand the band, because they're a great bunch of guys who create amazing music together. Why shouldn't they be recognized for it?

I admit that I don't let it be as known that I like them because of that. It would mean even some of my friends insulting me. :/
