The point of Gaia is to market and advertise and act a an area to test new products to online consumers. In this respect anime is being effectively permeated thoughout Gaia consitering how much cosplay items cost. Originality and cosplay are forced on you no matter how "original" you strive to be. So don't fight the system go with the flow.

I believe people should be able to cosplay if it's what they really want to do with their time. Of course, it can be overdone, but each one of us deserves to express ourselves. That is, even if it's creating a cosplay avatar.
