theres a lot of fobs at my school. but we call them "HTT" because it's the hmong term for fob. I'm not fob though

It's such a stupid term around here in Australia.
All of the people here (Anglo, Wog, Polynesian, white-washed/white-society Asians) consider Fobs as Islanders and Polynesians ONLY.
In all fact, Fob is a term used to describe Asian immigrants.
I just hate to see everyone being so ignorant, pushing around a wonderful term on "black" people.
Yes, it means "Fresh Off the Boat", denoting some form of illegal immigration - but the majority of Polynesians didn't even come here by boat, ever.
And don't tell me "ablanhlasnblah ur in astralier its difrant der!!11!".
There are still a large amount of true (or stereotypical) "azns" who would agree with me.

(Fresh off the Boat)
Fobs are generally people ( of asian decent ) who don't know alot of English, Don't find the need to learn it and think they can be "gangsta" over night by dressing the part.
Thats my fiance` definition since he has encounter
alot of people like that.

I think its just another racial term that people from North America made up. Its generally used when refering to filipinos. I've never seen it as a super duper horrible n-word type bad thing ( even though it is ) i'm filipino and 70% of my school is. But i was told it is.
for those wondering it mean fresh of the boat meaning they immagrated ( they really dont have to of immagrated by boat ) and they may or may not speak english well, but you can tell because of the heavy accent. VERY VERY heavy accent.

Well...I think white people might've...First people to America (besides Native Americans) were white people from Europe. They were immigrants...So yeah...they were the first FOB's...

knows about POP CULTURE around the world,
and loves JPOP
