Sheltigrrl I totally don't get the point of making a website/community based on hating something. There's a slew of more positive things to do, why must they focus on the negatives? O_o; Because if people have the right to express their liking for something other people should have the right to express their dislike for the same thing as well. It's the Internet and every single opinion stands represented at this grandest of all forums, live with it. Besides, it's not like some random person's opinion posted somewhere on the Internet effects either of us in any way. Sure, there are homophobes lurking about around the world but we knew that already, so there's nothing new or shocking there. And since we all seem to get a cheap laugh from it all, is there really that much of a threat towards the future of mankind? You really make yourself look better than them when going on like that, I guarantee it.

Like someone else said, I don't think the people who made the sites (or at least the first site, I didn't check the second one, yet) are against homosexuality.
From what I can gather from the first site, it's most about taking two cannon straight characters and pairing them up together, and the like. It's against out-of-cannon yaoi. Which, I can sort of understand the reasoning, but really, if you're going to stick to cannon then I don't think there's really any point TO fanfiction and fanart and the like... But meh, to each his own, so long as they don't try to hurt anyone.

You know who annoy me? The yaoi fangirls who are like: I like yaoi because I'm open minded!
Then, they see yuri and say how disgusting and wrong it is.
If you like yaoi because it's hot, just say so... *shakes head*

So it doesn't really effect me. I get all that. I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the depths your right to say it, etc, etc, etc. That doesn't mean I necessarily understand why you say it. All I meant--and said--was that it seems awfully pointless to me to focus so much on hating something. It seems like a horrible waste of time, money, energy, the lot. Okay. So we can take something and mock the s**t out of it. They can find some yaoi and complain about it. But to devote an entire website to disliking something strikes me as somewhat counterproductive. I just don't get it. And I have just as much right to state my opinion--on the Internet, no less--as they do.

Some people have web sites devoted to hating people of all races, and then there are some devoted to hating child abuse. While you can say one web site is good and the other is wrong your oppinion might be different from someone elses. I'm not syaing this to attack you personally, just trying to help you understand why the person might have created it.
Side note: The reason I keep saying 'might' is because none of us can say for certain why the person who created it, created it. These are all just theories if you're really curious ask. Though keep in mind that if you ask you're representing yaoi-fans and be polite. She has the right to have an oppinion as well.

Aw, geez. It's nothing new that some people are anti-yaoi. I mean, they have websites that are also anti-anime in general as well, I'm sure. But seeing people make an anti-website out of something I love makes me sad. sad

I see why they would spend their time making sites like that. It's for the same reason that we make sites that promote yaoi. People have their own opinions and we have ours. So what if they dislike it? It has nothing to do with us. They did not go up to us and slap us. If you hadn't noticed, we clicked the link to this thread and then clicked the URL's to those sites. Also i don't think that they are homophobic(well, some of them). They just don't like the pairing of characters. Bashing them and saying they should die and whatnot is doing the same as them. I have a friend who does not like yaoi/yuri when it comes to two Canon characters and he is a homosexual.

You catch more flies with honey then vinegar my dear! That is true. Sending her mail like that would just backfire on you. They would just put your e-mail adress on the site and have antiyaoi-fans e-mail you back. Then you would be the bad ones, neh?

it really isn't anything new or shocking. it's sad, yes, but i'm kind of jaded to that kind of stuff now. their opinions affect me in no way. i can go on believing what i believe and they can do that same. there are worse things.

I didn't read the second one, but I don't see what's wrong with the first one. It's basicly a place for those who don't like yaoi and BL to talk in a place about the characters they like without fangirls screaming at them, "RISA IZ A B!TCH!!!!11!1!111 DAISUKEXSATOSHI 4EVAR!!" Or something like that... If anything, it's the people who go there that make it seem anti-gay.
I honestly don't know what you guys are getting worked up about.

Truthfully, it's sad to see someone being Anti-anything these days. I can understand if people don't agree with it, but if you have such a distaste for it that you have to share it with the world of Gaia...
I don't even know.
