Hey, I have a tofu question!
I love getting tofu at restaraunts because the consistancy is really firm and yummy.
I've tried it myself when I stir-fry tofu & veggies, but I haven't been able to get it right. I read somewhere that freezing cubes of firm tofu would work, but it only worked a little. Does anyone else have any ideas?

ALWAYS use non-silken tofu, unless you're making something like the aforementioned mousse or a cream sauce. And use extra-firm stuff, as well.

I love Chinese restaurant stuff with tofu, stuff like bean curd with garlic sauce... whee

I've actually come to like tofu, I used to hate the stuff D:
I just soak it in soy sauce before I cook it, to give it a flavour.

Almost forgot! My fav dessert: Tofu Mousse!

1 package soft tofu (for a pudding consistency; use firm/extra-firm for cheese cake-consistency)
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips or vegan substitute

Melt chocolate. Pour in a blender over tofu (break it into chunks so it mixes faster). Blend until you get a smooth consistency. Chill until firm.

Really yummy poured into a prepared gramn-cracker or oreo crust!

I know this kind of depletes the purpose of tofu-mousse, since chocolate chips make it not-vegan, but its waaay easier than regular mousse, its more satisfying (more to it, fills you up in a way airy cream can't), and its like a bazillion calories less! biggrin

sounds nummy! biggrin

I made vegan brownies with silken tofu in them. My little sister who normally hates tofu loves the brownies I made.
