Actually, "noobs" was originally derived from the word "newbies" because it was easier/faster to say given that "noobs" is shorter by one syllable.
So technically "noobs" and "newbies" mean the same thing.
But it seems that overtime people have begun to associate the word "noob" with immature/annoying behavior that is most often exhibited by I guess newbies.
And now "noob" just means annoying, immaturely behaving people who think it's their job to post spam and tYpe LYk DiS cUz tHeY tHiNk iT LoOKs sOoO cOoL.
That said, I'm glad this rule's in place and you guys are banning people who do that because it extremely irritates me also.
